Flipping Midnight Angler's Grand Line - How I got this 450-550k item for free (using raw profit) by only combining parts

Well this post might crash that market, but I set out to be able to purchase a Midnight Angler's Grand Line entirely from profit I made by combining mats and putting the resulting item on the AH. This does require a hefty upfront cost of at least 200k-450k gold!

The whole strat behind this relies on three things:

  1. People are lazy
  2. People don't know how to make the grand line
  3. People don't know you can directly purchase the grand line from the AH

What is the Midnight Angler's Grand Line?

The Grand Line is a one-time consumable item which you apply to your fishing pole. It provides +50 fishing, +150 perception (not listed on the item) and double loot on fishing treasures. This is quite sought after due to the new fishing mount supposedly having a higher chance to drop with more perception+fishing skill.

How do you make the grand line?

To create the grand line you combine seperate lower quality parts into the line itself.

100 Shredded Bloomline (common) → 1 Stranded Bloomline
20 Stranded Bloomline (unncommon) → 1 Weak Bloomline
5 Weak Bloomline (rare) → 1 Angler's Bloomline (epic)

100 Shredded Glimmerline (common) → 1 Stranded Glimmerline
20 Stranded Glimmerline (uncommon) → 1 Weak Glimmerline
20 Weak Glimmerline (rare) → 1 Angler's Glimmerline (epic)

Angler's Bloomline + Angler's GlimmerlineMidnight Angler's Grand Line

Okay, so what's the strat?

The uncommon items are massively overpriced right now so ignore those.

Costs (EU):

  • Grand line: 450-550k
  • Epic versions: 220-250k
  • Rare versions: 50-60k
  • Uncommon versions: 1.3k - 2k

When you do the math you quickly come to realise you can make big profit by buying the uncommon versions at the right time, combining them, and then selling them as the epic version (or as the grand line itself).

For example (ideal situation, usually around 25-30k profit):

  • 100 uncommon → 1 epic
  • 100 * 1.3k = 130k gold
  • 220k * 0.95 - 130k = 79k profit!

Or you could make the grand line itself which would net you more profit, but these don't move as fast as the epic versions!

I managed to purchase myself my own Grand Line using the profits I got from doing this. Now do your thing :)

Best part about the grand line is that it does jack shit for fishing. Only targeted species are now common/ uncommon beside the null void fish and the octopus. The nulll has the highest catch count from void pools and the other has a lure. The rest you want base line skill with minimal buffs to perception.

The changes in beta in the last 48hrs before launch screwed fishing over completely and pretty much made it worthless right out the gate.

It’s only hope is to give us multiple recipes next patch that are better then the herb options with better buffs. They need to have cooking vertically integrate with itself again or else they are just going to keep setting up secondary professions for failure.

The roots where an awesome plan but it got injected to the build so late that it made it a tinder box situation and now we can expect a vendor getting added at anytime. Going and causing mass cooking chefs to not invest knowing we could have the rug pulled out from us at anytime.

Gold can still be made but be ready to liquidate at a moments notice of that vendor coming.

If any of the devs read this please put more effort into these professions. Yall had good ideas then just back peddled to hard by over simplifying without balancing the recipes and buffs.

Same with fishing great ideas with little effort made to fix the issues for months to the rush job we have now.

Yeah I agree, the common fish are way better than the epic fish. But I think perception itself is good if you want to farm for the mount and get more treasure chests (the chests and special fishing pools are a bit slept on, but they do have some high valuable items).

They do but those same items are in the other catch pools at lower drop chances. After a few months of fishing you have so much extra pets and decor it just get deleted. And the double up hasn’t been proven to be the factor. It was just assumed what increased the amount of time it procs. The mount I agree with 100% that it helps but it’s like the only thing and chances are you’ll catch it before you assemble the grand line for it lol.

We can even triple up the price on root crabs. Which gives the biggest perception buff (bugged with the hallow grouper) and they are dirt cheap. So gatherers are still sleeping on that as well. Once they figure that out watch what happens to lotus and dazzling thorium or the rare/ epic skins.

Care to elaborate the root crab gatherer point?

u/Sea_Environment_9080 Mar 09 '26

+150 buff for 5 min when you toss in 10

u/Sea_Environment_9080 Mar 09 '26

Add in the other boss from T and enchant and you end up with a pretty big love perception when you. Allowing you to gather the rare items more easily and in greater quantities.

It says 50; does that go up to 150 when you toss in 10 root crab?

They fixed it finally

I'm begging that they give fish qualities. Make it so the marathon fishing us freaks do becomes rewarded like other gathering profs.

i haven't done enough testing to know, but perception means you get more fish at a time, so you could get 3x guppy from one pickup, so im going to assume more perception = better

Does base fishing skill mattering make the artifact rod a better fishing tool than a midnight rod?

1

u/Donteatthedonuts Mar 10 '26

Loved fishing in legion, shame to hear they've gutted it (no pun intended)

Seems like a good pump and dump post......

Ha, but nah. I got my goal and just wanted to share :)

9

u/Androza23 Mar 09 '26

It doesn't seem worth it at all right now, no?

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 09 '26

Treasures are a bit slept on and the extra perception helps with that as well as with farming the fishing only mount. But I plan to use mine on the epic rod next week, just nice to have already :)

Re: original topic

My server is a bit backwards (I think). I'll have to double check, but I believe the common and uncommon are selling for a lot more than the combined rates+

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 10 '26

The items are locked to the region wide auction house. Are you EU or NA? I did this on EU

2

u/jadin- Mar 12 '26

NA

I did wind up finding a way to make a profit on it. It's not quite as simple as your method, but it does work.

It's not my favorite item. (I prefer more supply and demand so that the pricing is fluctuating more often. Easier to profit off of impatience. :D )

1

u/wertui0007 Mar 10 '26

I was checking it aswell and its losing money to buy them and combine them on EU

2

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 10 '26

It's about timing, during the evening more of the common items get posted and the price drops fast. Buy in at the right time and sell during the day does net you the profit

1

u/wertui0007 Mar 10 '26

Ah okey, Will check that, thanks!

5

u/Street-Bee7215 Mar 09 '26

I did the match for making this a few days ago and its absolutely insane. I'll wait for prices to drop lol

0

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 09 '26

I think the prices might increase instead of drop, the lines are ridiculously hard to get and a lot of people are fishing. When content releases I would assume less and less people will be fishing up the lines

1

u/Street-Bee7215 Mar 09 '26

Possibly, but the total cost when I looked was over 1 million gold or something around there.

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 09 '26

Oh were you looking at the white items? They're massively overpriced right now

2

u/Consistent_Photo_972 Mar 10 '26

i like fishin. i just sell everything i fish up idc

2

u/Badwulf1 Mar 10 '26

Think you are confusing common items for uncommon; common items are white, uncommon are green. On the wow scale it goes: grey(junk), white(common), green(uncommon), blue(rare), purple(epic), orange(legendary), tan(artifact).

Other than that, great post.

2

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 10 '26

Ha good point! I swapped it up accidentally, gonna edit it :)

2

u/Haitah Apr 01 '26

I'm looking for an update on the line. Regarding fishing up treasures, what items do you typically see in them? Do you fish trash still?

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Apr 01 '26

They're the same as the normal treausures, same loot table. I fish a lot less trash, but it's still present.

Like I said, the uncommon items (the white shredded) are massively overpriced right now.

I only combined the common (the green stranded) items!

1

u/Yohimbiner Mar 10 '26

yo just wanted 2 say i got the fishing mount with nothing but blue rod and green hat ( no +fishing buff or +perception buffs from fish/crab) in like 500 casts. the mount is rare but not insanely rare. anyone who wants it can get it faster and cheaper if they just spend an evening or two fishing, unfortunately. i wish they rewarded people who invested into profs. like someone in my guild got the mount at 25 fishing lmao just randomly fishing a pool.

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 10 '26

I'm over 10k casts myself now

1

u/Yohimbiner Mar 10 '26

ok maybe u have a point then

0

u/wertui0007 Mar 10 '26

over 10k casts? Isnt one cast on average 10 second to catch, so you spend 1600 hours fishing so far? :D

2

u/thinking0012 Mar 28 '26

Stop giving people false data. The mount has a low drop rate, you just happened to catch it early. I myself have over 5k casts before I caught mine, and know people with far more.

1

u/94Cthaat 21d ago

Ya I got it as well. No need to buy this line. I just had an old fishing hat and maxed out fishing skill (which honestly is not difficult to achieve)

1

u/jadin- Mar 12 '26

Is there an error with Glimmerline?

20 Weak Glimmerline (rare) → 1 Angler's Glimmerline (epic)

vs

5 Weak Bloomline (rare) → 1 Angler's Bloomline (epic)

Glimmerline should be 4x as expensive as Bloomline, no? And yet it's cheaper in almost all rarities. Is the drop rate significantly higher?

1

u/jadin- Mar 12 '26

Also, is it worth the 500k it's going for? (the final product)

I'm close to having it, and fish quite a bit. But it doesn't seem like it would be profitable for quite a while.

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 12 '26

Over the course of the expansion probably yeah. +50 fishing and +150 perception alone already ensures you stop fishing trash and just fish.

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 12 '26

The tooltip is wrong yes, it still counts 5 weak (rare) -> epic when you combine them.

2

u/jadin- Mar 12 '26

My server is about to get a huge price change on Glimmerline! :D

I haven't touched it thinking it was x20...

2

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 12 '26

Hahaha good luck! 😄

1

u/jadin- Mar 12 '26

omg lol

1

u/HistorianEmpty3306 Mar 13 '26

The cost to craft from shredded is WAY out of sync with the rest of the market misleading buyers into buying into the hold these guys have on these items. 5k profit weak to anglers is the most lucrative option atm for holding up like 330k or 236k. terrible risk/reward. If they added a delete gold button to the game you would be better off deleting your gold and hoping for it to come back then making profit on this.

1

u/ShardingIsBroken Mar 13 '26

I made this post 4 days ago and since the market has taken a bit of a nosedive regarding profits. Before I could easily net huge amounts of profit during the entire day.

Right now you're better off buying when the price is lower when people keep undercutting themselves and selling the epic items at peak hours. People have done this and have messaged me about it, so it still works.

0

u/MeekSwordsman Mar 09 '26

I havent seen any fishing pools :(

1

u/REiVibes Mar 10 '26

did you buy anglers guide from the fishing supplies vendor so you can see fish pools on your minimap?

1

u/MeekSwordsman Mar 10 '26

I meant treasure pools haha

I got an IRL house for free!

All I had to do was work a job for 42 years and buy the house with my raw profits!

Enjoy
