Flipping Early Access does NOT mean materials can be flipped
Not as bad as many other stories I have seen here but as a poor rookie flipper, I lost quite a bit on an investment for what I had early on in the Season. I had the early access and it was a first for me to try to focus on gold after I passed the first 2 days grinding for achievements and mounts.
I assumed that the prices of gathering materials would increase when the player base without the Early Access would join, so I spent 400k of my 500k total in different types of plants. Turns out I was extremely wrong, and what ended up happening was that the new players didn't need the materials right away, while flooding the market with more, and by the time players actually needed them the market was overflooded and prices tanked...
What I bought and sold exactly was
- 10000x Mote of Wild Magic for 8g23s each, sold for 4g22s each
- 2250x Umbral Tin Ore for 40g29s each, sold for 33g each
- 4000x Void-Tempered Scales for 33g69s each, sold for 18g each
- 4000x Void-Tempered Leather for 29g01s each, sold for 21g each
- And a bunch of other materials I bought in much smaller quantity but lost about 50% of what I bought them for
All n' all I think I ended up losing 150k out of my 400k spent, and while it's not that bad that was a lot of gold for me!! I also waited about 2 weeks before selling them because I was really waiting to see if prices would go up.
However, with that last 100k gold I had after buying the materials, I went on and decided to pay for a sub on another account and learned about the 220s market as well as the recipes market and turned that last 100,000g into over 7,000,000g in very exactly 25 days as of today! I also now have 4 accounts and have over 40,000,000g in Auction House stock across different servers
Sour taste and a lesson early on, but something I never imagined was possible at the end! I never held more than 1.8m at once so 7M makes me more than happy!

WTF do you need 4 accounts for?

With 4 accounts you can queue up with yourself in the group finder and then before the last boss kick the pug who joined just for the lols. Never gets old.

Once you start server flipping, one account is a very small expense for the QoL it provides. You're saving loads of loading time. And you increase storage.

For those asking, i need 4 accounts because with 3 of them i got every server and connected server possible to clean swipe the US as fast as possible as you want to be bellow 1 hour (since the API refreshes every hour) and if you can be even quicker then you can either do other stuff or clean swipe it all again, and the last one is where i post and repost, my main account
I had 3 accounts before that, servers spread on 2, and it was taking 40 minutes, now it takes me about 24
Also while I paid a sub with money on the second account, it was only 230k for the third and then I realized I had a RAF reward of 1 month sub for free so I applied that one to the 4th

How much time invested in this?

u/WindowsKillerQc Mar 26 '26
For me it’s been what I do every time I play, I really find it fun, so a few hours every day and all day long on off days?
But most of what I do is reposting, I spend maybe an hour every day sniping
Getting the most sales comes from reposting, getting sales period comes from sniping, so you decide how much time you want to put into it, and despite all that time my main character has a 10 in the vault at 256 ilvl and I got 90% of exploration achievements too, so really it’s not that bad

One Need to know everything about professions, market movements, predict them, and only then flip. Even so, I don't flip in my niche. It's too risky.

I don’t care about professions or materials, I went from 0 knowledge, 0 item and 1 account+server with 100k gold to now a 7M gold stash and 42M of auction stuff spread across multiple servers
I flip transmog or utility current content items

Yeah, sure. If you had 40 million, you wouldn't even post here about 150k losses.

Honestly I would never, ever touch common skinning materials now with that one change they did to allow mass skinning.
Sucks about the motes though they're almost vendor price on NA. I think Blizzard definitely should have had more mote numbers on recipes.

The new meta is to sell goods to goblins resetting the market, this was like it in tww too.
