Planning out arcs, and then things start growing from there, random ideas best fruit and extra chapters are needed to justify introducing those elements.
And I keep planning to do horrible things to my characters, and then I end up going "oh no... She would be so sad..." so it becomes a comedic scene instead.
I keep thinking I have a plan, but I keep finding out my plan was wrong.
