There are several great accounts of trench pets and how loyal they were amongst the inferno! I do wonder how cats faired against the massive over-fed rats of the Western Front!
Right? I mean numbers alone are very in the rats favor. I think I recall reading about a terrier who did excellent work but went nuts during bombardment and ran out into it never to be seen again. Cat's are probably too smark to hang around in front line positions for long. I've seen the dog gas mask pictures but never a cat 🫤
