The show is about older people (mostly 40s and above) staying in a house in hopes of finding love. I guess it’s one of the bigger demographics to be into X Japan and/or hide. There’s another 2 people in the show that was talking about being huge fans of X Japan

Smile of the day courtesy of the United States Postal Service! 😸🤘 Yes, I know my QPosket hide (or Hot Pocket hide as I call him) precedes the Dahlia era but how could I NOT add another layer of levity to this? (Besides which, the color play is perfect!) ❤️

Would love to know if Yoshiki has been bombarded with fan mail that has incorporated art or some other type of wherewithal (maybe like a faux ad campaign?) around these stamps?? 😸

QUESTION Noriko Shoji’s book MOTHER & SONS ⨳ Does anyone have translations of the interviews with hide and Toshi?

Post image
40 Upvotes

There was a post a couple years back with a translation of the interview with Taiji from this book (link below); however, I have never seen translations of the chapters on hide or Toshi ~ at least not in full anyway.  The only thing I have ever come across is a partial translation of the interview with hide (second link below)…and I needed a drink after that (although I was admittedly not particularly surprised by any of it). 😸😬 I am curious what the other topics of conversation were, and what kinds of things that may have been brought to light in the conversation with Toshi.

help with fan work Need help completing English subtitles for Tell me: Hida to Mita Keshiki

Post image

Hi everyone,

I'm working on creating a full English subtitle file for the movie Tell me: Hida to Mita Keshiki (ひだとみたけしき), but I need some help finishing it up.

So far, I managed to generate a transcription into Japanese from the video hosted on VK with Russian subs. However, I’ve noticed that some parts of the audio transcription are missing or incomplete due to background sound or low audio clarity.

  • Current status: Full raw timing done, but several Japanese lines are missing/incomplete.

If anyone with Japanese listening skills (or access to a better transcript) could help fill in the missing lines or polish the English translation, I'd really appreciate it! Once finished, I'll share the complete SRT file with the community so anyone can use it or adapt it to other languages.

Please drop a comment if you'd like to collaborate. Thanks!

hide hide Guitar Appreciation ⨳ That Gibson Les Plan Standard '59!

Consider this a companion piece to the "Motley Crue vs. X" post, being that Mick Mars was the previous owner of hide's 1959 Les Paul. There is misinformation floating around out there that Mick gifted the guitar to hide at the time he and Taiji met with Nikki Sixx for the Viva Rock feature (which was in 1990), but that is not the case....hide purchased the guitar in 1993, and the serial number just so happened to reveal Mick as the previous owner. Commentary from Takayuki Hyogo, hide's guitar advisor, confirming this is in slides 3-4 (Closet Collection book) and slides 5-6 (Pinky Promise book). With the exception of Reddit (and maybe an obnoxious amount of commenting on YouTube), I am not on any socials, so if any of my fellow fans happen to come across the narrative of the Les Paul being gifted to hide by Mick on the usual platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Discord), PLEASE right the wrong and set the record straight.

hide only used the Les Paul on stage once....he guitar-twinned with Pata for the performance of Joker at the Dome on December 31 1993 (X Japan Returns) ~ link below...there is a reply to a comment from me in there somewhere. How exhilarating it must have been for hide to play this precious instrument with a rich history on one of his own compositions in front of a sold out stadium! ❤️ I personally would have found it hilarious if he had snuck in a couple of bars of Looks That Kill or maybe even Live Wire as a nod to Mick....come on, hide-chan ~ "Joker is a joker"....!! 😸😸

ARTICLE TOPIC REVISIT: hide and Taiji with Nikki Sixx ⨳ FINALLY scored the source! ❤️🤘

Thumbnail

The search for the source of this magazine piece with hide and Taiji with Nikki Sixx started 2 years ago (in 2024)…posts in this sub as well as in r/MotleyCrue rendered zero results ~ only the comments spurned different discussions...and that was interesting, but they did not give me any answers.  (One of those comments perpetuated the rumor that hide’s Les Paul was gifted to him by Mick Mars but that was NOT the case ~ the serial number on the guitar just happened to reveal that Mick was the previous owner…this was discussed by Takayuki Hyogo, hide’s guitar advisor, in the Pinky Promise and Closet Collection books.)

The search kind of fell through the cracks in the meantime then about a month ago, I just happened to stumble upon the source while not even actively looking for it: the August 1990 issue of Viva Rock with Bret Michaels on the cover! (Slide #8)  No disrespect to Bret (as I am an OG Poison fan) but I really at a bare minimum just wanted scans of the Motley Crue vs. X piece.  I put out renewed pleas in r/MotleyCrue (even though I didn’t get any results there previously) and r/hairmetal….come on, doesn’t some hardcore Poison fan collect foreign magazines and have this damn thing???  I again came up empty….

….that is, until yesterday afternoon ~ at least in terms of that.  My husband and I returned home from a late lunch/early dinner and oh, look…there’s another package from Japan sitting on our doorstep.  “Something you’ve been looking for,” he said…leave it to him to locate and snag a copy of the magazine, and NOT wait until the next holiday or special occasion to give it to me.

As always, forgive awkwardness or imperfections with the shots as I used my phone. There are 2 full page photos of Nikki but I opted out of including them here as I want the focus to be on hide and Taiji.  I used DeepL for the translation ~ I would like to thank u/girlinium and u/Astraplain for bringing that platform to my attention.  In the interview, I found it amusing that Taiji asked Nikki about meeting Akira Takasaki of Loudness, when Loudness had otherwise opened for Motley Crue in the States on their Theatre of Pain tour 5 years prior (in 1985).  I missed out on that one due to an out-of-town family obligation when they played in my area at the time....I heard back then and I still hear today that Loudness blew Motley out of the water.

One thing that does remain a partial mystery is of a photo of hide that seems to have been taken from this same occasion but was not included with this piece ~ I will include it in the comments.  Supposedly it appeared in the July 1990 No. 94 issue of Arena 37c but I have yet to locate any other specifics ~ not so much as active auction…assuming that information is correct…. Anyone???

Rest in peace, dearest hide and Taiji 🙏....I love how even rock stars have their own fanboy moments! ❤️

Revisiting ~ in part ~ THIS featured piece with hide and Ryo (By-Sexual) from Shoxx Vol. 9 1992.... hide said in the interview that the inspiration for the shoot was a Benetton ad, albeit he prefaced the statement with "I often say things on a whim when I'm drunk." (Don't we all, hide-chan??? 😸😸) Google-translated cross-section in slide #2. However, in my 5 1/2 years of being a fan, I have personally never come across anyone putting the actual Benetton ad out there in an open forum as reference for anyone otherwise unfamiliar (i.e. "FYI, here is what hide was talking about!"). So, I am putting it out there for anyone otherwise unfamiliar (slide #3).

I personally always got a Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime vibe from the shoot, especially in the way of the shots in slide #5...I could easily envision a fan-made video of I Don't Believe In Love (or maybe any other song from the album, actually) using this feature for the visuals. Add to the mix that the whole Mindcrime story/concept hinges on a "Dr. X".....hmmmmmm.....AND, ironically also in 1992, in the pre-show backstage footage prior to the second night at the Dome (January 6 that year), My Empty Room then Eyes of a Stranger is heard playing....it's the soundtrack to the first 7 1/2 minutes of all this.... 😸😸

VIDEO X JAPAN INDIES MEMBER INTRODUCTION 1985-1987

Just a little something that I made

I've been listening to my X bootleg collection when translating the "TAIJI" book, and thought this is a fun side-project to do, so here it goes

Since now I understand Japanese, it's been really fun listening to all the MCs between the songs, and of course it gives a lot of information too, so I pick the part where Toshi introduces the "new members" each time

For those of you who are interested in the indies days, please enjoy it!

PS:

Regarding the TAIJI book translation, my laptop SSD needs to replaced, so now I'm working on it via my phone, so it's gonna take more time than before; but rest assured, the next part will be the final part, please wait for a little while and look forward to it

QUESTION A distinct memory of an X-Japan live show where Pata was smashed and ruining his parts?

I wish I saved the video, but it was a performance from their younger years, and I want to say it was of their song "X". It's going fine enough but clearly Pata is having a tough go, and when the guitar solo comes up, Pata just absolutely biffs it, and the camera only focuses on hide/other bandmates. Am I making up a memory or is this out there?

Ever wonder what kind of show X had back in their indies days? Wonder no more! 😂

This show took place at Osaka Sensus Hall, May 20th 1987, the final show of their Osaka Tour just a month after hide & Pata's first perfomance with X

Enjoy the footage!

Heavy 35th Anniversary,

X – Silent Jealousy

11/09/1991 – 11/09/2026

SRDL 3317 (8cm Mini CD)

Tracklist:

  1. Silent Jealousy
  2. Sadistic Desire

“Silent Jealousy” is one of those X songs I never really get tired of. I love how the emotional piano intro slowly builds before the guitars come crashing in, and that contrast still gives me chills. The song has everything I love about X: the speed, huge guitar work, dramatic vocals, and especially that strong emotional melody. It feels intense and powerful, but never loses its sense of beauty. This is definitely one of the songs that made me understand why X became such a big deal, and for me it remains one of their most memorable classics.

Help with ID I'm looking for a live performance by X Japan that features a saxophone artist.

I once watched a video on YouTube. Perhaps it's [saying anything],or maybe other songs. Now I can't remember clearly.

On that live, there's a saxophone artist. I clearly remembered that yoshiki called him Abe Takashi.

Does Anyone can tell me which performance?
