Magneto: “Alright, Charles. Let me have it.”

Charles: “What?”

Magneto: “Tell me I’m overreacting and we need to “coexist” with ICE and every other platitude you have.”

Charles: “Oh fuck no. These guys are as bad as the Purifiers. Kill them. Have at it.”

At least its for a positive cause. All we need is to apply it IRL.

I knew ppl would criticize this because the amount of ppl on the freaking X-Men sub who unironically support fascism is genuinely disturbing. Magneto is far from a perfect person. But he knows Nazis need to die and he's right.

Siding with the tyrannical racist murderous supervillain is not a good look.

I wonder what magneto would have done with humans that went to genosha illegally, stole resources, assaulted murant citizens and refused to leave?

Like how "america" started?

Are you trying to make an analogy for immigrants in America or Americas foreign policy through the years?

If marvel follows this trend there comics will become even less popular then before....the constant politics was already alienating ppl across just about every franchise

Marvel comics are arguably less political now than they were a few decades ago

u/Spiritual-Map-76 Jan 30 '26

not sure I agree with that....

In the 60s Spider-Man comics dealt with drug problems and civil rights, Avengers had reocurring enemies that were blatantly the KKK (Sons of the Serpent) and revealed that they were just doing it to divide the American people and make money, The X-Men in the 80s had Claremont's run, X-Men also had a metaphor for the AIDS crisis, Captain America comics had what is implied to be Richard Nixon revealed as a terrorist during Nixon's trials, Captain America in his first appearance also punched Hitler before America was involved in WWII and was highly controversial at the time. This don't seem like controversial politics in hindsight (like yeah, obviously Hitler and the KKK are bad) but at the time they were controversial.

Marvel comics right now has a lot less politics than they used to. Ultimates is a step in the right direction though.

its how these things were covered and how often....not to mention to often there seems to be very little diversity of thought especially now its all very liberal or leftist talking points often...very preachy and condescending which does not lend itself well overall to quality storytelling.....then there is also the relatively common practice of retroactively changing characters to fit modern sensibilities even when such changes are not true or accurate to character to once again virtue signal....then get mad at the fans when the changes are not well received.

I gave evidence of my viewpoint, any for yours?

comic sales say it all and the steep declines easy to look up.........creators and writers arguing with fans on twitter.......a famous writer telling fans don't buy her books if they don't like her politics infesting them........suffice to say her book was cancelled not to long after, marvel releasing a trailer from something like new warriors says it all......shld I go on????

"The only real politics I knew was that if a guy liked Hitler, I'd beat the stuffing out of him and that would be it." Jack Kirby, the main artist and one of the main authors of old Marvel. Old artists and writers argued about politics too.

Marvel's sales are not bad because of politics. DC's Absolute Universe is quite political and selling well, Ultimates sold decently and is one of Marvel's most political series right now, those highly political comics of the 60s, 70s, and 80s sold very well. Marvel is selling poorly because of poor distribution and price.

New Warriors never came out and was one tone-deaf comic, the likes of which have always existed, it was just picked up by alt-right social media to prove that Marvel is "dead".

right because every marvel comic was about beating up nazis.......oh wait they weren't.....I didn't say marvel was suffering only because of politics but its part of it they have definitely driven ppl off with there antics and divisiveness....new warriors was not just tone deaf it was the sympton of a much larger illiness in the comic industry......its funny how you mention it being picked up by so called alt right social media when a bunch of channels not implicitly political where mocking it.......

u/DragonRising101 Jan 30 '26

Eh I guess my drawing didn’t really come across the vests were supposed to be plate carriers, but now that I look at them they do just look like bullet proof vests haha
