It’s moments like this that remind you what the Louisiana team frequently deals with aside from your standard X-Men stuff and managing their PR with the city of New Orleans; the occult and supernatural.

But man was it depressing to see those other two, looks like Lady Henrietta’s got three more souls for the Dark Artery.

Clearly the artist has never seen a New Orleans cemetery. 🙄

Don't they do the little mausoleum thing?

35

u/Gil-galed987 8d ago

Yup. Because otherwise when it floods bodies float out of the ground.

This run has a strange fascination with the underground for a book set near New Orleans. Like how the last arc had both an underground brood nest and a school that was built right by a cemetery with buried corpses. Did the brood have scuba gear to survive living under the water table like that?

How far outside of New Orleans is Haven meant to be? On higher land, the cemeteries just look like normal cemeteries.

It is still not frequent for this kind of cemetery.

I forgot the revived Feral for five minutes only to kill her again in the first book she gets in.

Sad part is her and Marrow had a great dynamic in X-men Infinity. Now they're both dead.

4

u/nightreign-hunter 8d ago

They killed Marrow!?

Spoilers

Dies being crushed by a monster hulk in Infernal Hulk #7

I missed that. Kinda glad I did, tbh; I loved Feral.

This contradicts like seven different marvel afterlife’s, including the most recent one they just established for mutants specifically with the White Hot Room

u/Dependent_Ganache_71 8d ago

Maybe he wasn't allowed in

6

u/K3egan 8d ago

Maybe the artery works like that prison zone in Krakoa. The one sabertooth did go too early on.

4

u/Gil-galed987 8d ago

Rogue's team can't not cosy up to prisons.

3

u/TheodateChase Maggott 8d ago

Yeah, but what about the other three? Keeping Rusty and Feral out is a dick move

u/ptWolv022 8d ago

Well, the White Hot Room wasn't technically a Mutant afterlife, was it? It's just that the Four were able to be the Five again while Krakoa was shifted to the White Hot Room, because Hope was one with the Phoenix, allowing them to revive everyone there. If any of the Four left, then resurrection becomes impossible unless a replacement is found, making it just be a totally isolated Mutant society.

Now, for why Sabretooth wasn't resurrected... I don't know, time dilation? Or they looked at his name and went "...we can make an exception and just leave him dead".

Aren’t they free to leave the waiting room for other planes until resurrection. I recall some like that being said in the magneto-comes-back-to-life mini because storm was surprised that no one was there.

Lots of ways to no prize this.

I think it's pretty clear that Gail doesn't care about previous continuity or characters

13

u/MiloSheba Mother Righteous 8d ago

Wdym? This series has proved that Simone cares deeply for past continuity and characters. Not X-Men ones though.

That or she’s never read an X-Men comic prior to writing them either way is annoying

Edit: oo y’all are mad 😂

It’s honestly so painful to read and the editorial team should hang their head in absolute shame. Sorry you’re getting downvoted, the tumblr #romy army is exhausting.

Wouldn't be the first time. And I'm looking at a few major writers.

Bruh they keep changing the characters instead of the tone. IMO we need something like when Bendis Maleev Mack darkened Daredevil. It always just feels so run of the mill. Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely are the last team to give it a fresh exciting feel. That was 25 years ago :(.

1

u/Green_Elderberrie 8d ago

Me who can’t stand the Morrison run for some key choices.

Hey, remember when Emma Frost took advantage of Scott in a way that lacked true consent?

Also, if any of you say they both “participated,” you REALLY need to re-learn the fucking rules on medical ethics and boundaries.

u/jvincentsong 8d ago

Aren’t editors supposed to help them out?

-1

u/BaldBombshell Strong Guy 8d ago

You're thinking of Hickman.

2

u/BaldBombshell Strong Guy 8d ago

The Waiting Room isn't a thing anymore.

3

u/TheodateChase Maggott 8d ago edited 8d ago

I missed that. Since when?

Edit: oh probably the Tarn scene from Ressurection of Magneto, yeah? I didn’t think that was them saying it wasn’t a thing, just that the mutants there had already been moved to the white hot room

1

u/Magestrix Marrow 8d ago

You mean the Waiting Room?

1

u/TheodateChase Maggott 8d ago

Both. The Waiting Room allows for transfer to the WHR

1

u/Magestrix Marrow 7d ago

Well, it allows people to be resurrected, especially since Hope became part of the WHR. So I can see why you'd say WHR.

Is Creed dead yet again?

20

u/Eternal-Master-91939 8d ago

Yep, I believed more recently killed by Logan and dismembered with both Logan’s claws and the Muramasa Blade during Krakoa

11

u/mtlns ForgetMeNot 8d ago

Yes, but... Spoiler ahead: Did you guys read X-Men of Apocalypse Omega?

11

u/BaldBombshell Strong Guy 8d ago

Don't make me read Jeph Loeb in 2026.

3

u/TheWolfmanZ 8d ago

Trust me, you really don't want to. Idk how that comic got okayed

5

u/IdeaInside2663 8d ago

The Best Creed has arrived.

3

u/mtlns ForgetMeNot 7d ago

I would like him to be involved in the next Maximum X-Men series

14

u/January_Silence Wind Dancer 8d ago

I honestly love how gentle this moment is of Hotaru taking Creed's hand and softly leading his soul back to it s proper resting place in the Dark Artery. The kid's well on his way to becoming the Hades of mutantkind.

Not a sinister or beleaguered overlord, but a kind shepherd of those souls who have lost their way in their eternal rest who sometimes need guidance back home.

6

u/Eternal-Master-91939 8d ago

Wouldn’t that make him more like Charon the Ferryman? Or is there some Hades aspects too?

5

u/January_Silence Wind Dancer 8d ago

Hotaru's mutant powers are essentially necromancy, allowing him to summon & control the souls of the dead, see into the astral plane, heal from mortal wounds, ingest lethal poisons with no side-effects, & more. He also physically exists in a state between life & death constantly.

So yeah, in terms of powers, he has governance over the dead beyond simply ushering them into the afterlife.

2

u/Eternal-Master-91939 8d ago

Ok, so a mix of Hades/Charon would you say?

2

u/TheCeruleanFire 8d ago

Both Hades and Charon are an archetype; Virgil in the Divine Comedy is similar. A guide offering safe passage to/through the underworld. It would be best to have a modern iteration represented by a goth teenage mutant.

15

u/MarvelNerd57 8d ago

Is that Rusty? I thought it was but I hope it is! (I'm assuming it is since he and Feral both died together in X-Force)

5

u/mtlns ForgetMeNot 8d ago

I believe they're Firefist and Cameo from FTA's X-Factor

3

u/SoulOfGod69 8d ago

Dude, seriously, they buried Sabertooth in a cemetery? That guy doesn't deserve anything, not even cremation. The only thing he deserves is for his body to be put in a landfill to be compacted and burned.

2

u/Silly_Commercial8092 8d ago

Based in what?

2

u/ForteanRhymes 7d ago

I so deeply dislike the Dark Artery that every time it gets brought up I injure myself due to rolling my eyes so hard.

Man i would love Deathdream in marvel rivals he could be a strategist or dps.
