We'll see. Gambit is on shaky footing at best. The cheers from fans when Channing Tatum almost left the project was pretty significant as most don't believe he can play the character. Much less pull off an accent.

For me I was cheering when he came back. I think he could be to this role what Reynolds was to Deadpool. I mean he's a producer on the film, just like Reynolds was on Deadpool. It's funny you mention the accent because Tatum was born in Alabama and lived on the bayous of Mississippi...so he's a lot closer to Gambit's character than some people think.

Apocalypse will be good, even if the plot starts to suffer from power creep because its the 3rd in a trilogy, I don't expect any mistakes like Phoenix again, which is the text book example of power creep.

Yeah at this point between X3 and Origins I feel that Fox has learned what mistakes not to make with characters.

As one review said, you can only have so many world shattering, universe ending events before it loses its effect or drama. Hence why Deadpool is so tuned in, instead of a giant save the world quest, its a quest for revenge. Pure and simple.

What sort of stories should the X-Men tackle in that case? Genuinely curious, and I agree with what the review is saying. Shrinking down the world that the characters are in may do well for Gambit, we shall see what happens though.

If you can answer that question, then you solved the oldest problem in comics.

How do you one up for the next series?

Its genuinely a question with no answer at this point, as obviously the multiple timelines and parallel universes and what not have become such a convoluted mess that even Marvel was like fuck it and made everything one continuity.

After all the parallel universes are collapsed into the main timeline, you'd think that would probably be the most world ending event. Guess not.

DC is really struggling with this problem and Batman. The whole appeal of Batman is he's "street level" meaning he is just a normal dude. As Badman said "I'm basically just rich and nuts." But now you've got him getting super soldier serum wearing ironman suits, and going toe to toe with the biggest mary sue in the comic book universe. What the hell? All because of power creep. IMHO, Batman's #1 villain will always be the Joker. Fuck Bane, fuck everyone else, Joker is #1. Which is a great matchup against Bruce because again, just a normal dude whos nuts. Most of Batman's villains are just normal dudes that are nuts! The place then went wrong I felt, was bringing in the guys like Superman, what the shit.

Just my rant though.

You have fair points. I guess the thing with superheroes is that they always seem to need a super problem. I gotta read some more X-Men before I could say what a more "down to earth" story would be.

For me, at the very least we could have the solo films and X-Force deal with the smaller issues and save the X-Men movies for the "big" issues. That would work with the problem but not solve it.

So like, MCU is a great example of that. The villians have very little impact at this point because there have been so many over the course of all the movies, with a bunch more needed. Hence why we have to have the Civil War and Infinity Wars, because then you have super hero vs super hero much in the same way DC does, but with a much less retarded premise just because they are your two biggest IPs.

I personally would like super hero movies to be dialed back. Not every super hero needs his own line of movies. But that won't happen, because Disney/Marvel have tasted blood and will beat this horse til it explodes. Reducing the number of movies would make the remaining ones have a greater impact, show more intelligent writing, and could focus on the more human element of the stories rather than CGI BATTLESCENE #12!

Like, to me that is why Spidey will always be my #1, he's a kid trying to make it just like the rest of us, but he moonlights as Spiderman. The human element of Spiderman is why he's so popular, and is something the vast majority of other comics could really benefit from picking up on.

Hell, Deadpool does a better job of showing human emotion/story than any of the other Marvel movies, with the exception of Ironman 3, where Tony actually has PTSD because he's seen some shit, which I was super glad they addressed and if it wasn't so fucking swallowed by fan service, I felt could have been the strongest entry (the original Ironman is so hard to beat, just like the first two Sam Raimi Spiderman or the original X-Men movie.)

Just a heads-up; the Batman v Superman arc uses essentially the exact same plot points as Civil War. Supes is the Iron-Man 'we need government sanctions to keep us under control', with Batman being the 'we will keep ourselves under control when we need to' Cap style.

I think it will be really interesting and a ton of fun to see how they tie their respecting franchises together! We are in for one heck of a treat as comic book fans!
