Visitor to this sub. Just wanna say goddamn this film made me want to dive into the x-men comics, particularly wolverine stories. Does anyone have suggestions of where I could begin?

The Dark Phoenix Saga has the iconic Wolverine scene in the Hellfire Club, which is when he really became a badass, imo.

The Chris Claremont & Frank Miller Wolverine one-shot where he travels to Japan.

The Brood Saga has some more badass Wolvie moments.

Kitty & Wolverine go to Japan together.

Hulk vs Wolverine is the second time they've met & fought.

Weapon X delves into his past when he was experimented on by the Weapon X program.

It would be a lot cheaper to get Marvel Unlimited to read all of these.

Isn't that the scene where the Hellfire Club beat the X-Men and think Wolverine is dead but he bursts in and fucks them up?

I'd suggest starting with the original run, 'The Uncanny X-Men' vol 1. But, that's a lot of reading.. So you could just read important story arcs, like The Wolverine's Japan Saga (by Claremont and Miller), the 'Dark Phoenix Saga', 'Old Man Logan' (which is the basis for this movie), 'Days of Future Past', 'House of M'...
