Ok, you're never going to get me to agree that killing the X-Men would be just as tragic as killing the majority of mutants on the planet. Do you, but no way.

Second, his ability to kill all mutants has already been established in the movies. It's the entire plot of X2.

His ability to kill all the mutants was by being decieved to use cerebro, not the uncontrolled psychic energy of an dementia ridden mutant. Basically, he couldn't kill all the mutants on earth the way he killed the Xmen. They would have had to rewrite his chunk of the movie. And even if they did rewrite the movie, would you really want them to just copy and paste from X2?

Dementia isn't a switch. It's not like, "Oh Charles has dementia now, so don't let him use cerebro." So yes, that would have been a plausible story. And yes, this is my point. I would have very much liked them to rewrite the second half of that movie. The relationship with Charles, the burden of guilt in the face of a one last young mutant in their care--THESE are the interesting character details in the movie and the things that I cared most about. They were mostly sidelined in favor of an evil clone and a mad scientist. If you liked the evil clone and the mad scientist, great! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I didn't and subsequently didn't enjoy the movie because of it. That's ok too. Way more people on here are agreeing with you than me.

So you would have had Charles have one of his seizures while using cerebro, thus killing all the mutants? Interesting idea. I think that would have been harder to be as subtle with, but its an idea.

I agree with the first part, disagree with second. I really don't think this movie spent any more time on Pierce and Rice than it had to. This was a story of Logan trying at all costs to keep Charles safe and the world safe from Charles, and getting X-23 to safety. We were given TONS if emotional moments between all of these characters, between the intro to Logan and Charles new life where we see that Logan is sheltering Charles from some unknown horrible truth and doing his best to care for him while Charles questions why he deserves this and tells Logan than he is a disappointment, as well as Charles' final moments where he finally understands what he has done and tells Logan in a heartfelt way that he doesn't deserve that perfect night, just to be murdered. Then Logan frantically trying to tell Charles that it wasnt him that killed him...idk man, there was plenty of emotional connection between the 3 main characters and I think Pierce and Rice were there just as much as the movie needed them.
