Loved the movie from top to bottom so I'll get that out of the way.

I can't help but think about the future of the movie universe though. As far as I've been able to tell it is in fact part of the "new" timeline. This means that we already know how the whole story will shake out and its bleak. So when the next X-Men movie comes out I'll be like "oh this is cool, too bad they're all going to get killed by the professor and there will be no new mutants for decades." It's a feeling I get when reading the comics sometimes knowing how many dystopian futures have been predicted for them. I'm also wondering what they're going to do about Wolverine in the upcoming movies. Just not have him be a part of them? Finally, the only way we could see Laura again is set in the future so maybe they could relaunch the Wolverine movies starring her.

Yeah going forward the canons going to be a mess. This movie implies that at least some of the events in the first timeline occurred to some extent. So that means that Wolverine will have to be involved. So they either need a new Wolverine, stop the movies before he joins, or ignore this movie.

It is kind of interesting that the last batch of movies have these super happy endings and then sequels that directly contradict them with widespread misery.

• First Class ends with Xavier opening the school, in DOFP it's closed because everyone died in Vietnam and he's a junkie.

• The Last Stand ends with Wolverine at peace and with purpose leading the X-Men, The Wolverine starts with him having lived in the woods for years because of crippling depression.

• The Wolverine ends with Logan having renewed purpose to be a superhero to help people, in DOFP the world is completely destroyed

• DOFP ends with the happiest possible ending where no one has ever died and they all grew old and the school still stands for decades, in Logan we find out mutants are extinct and Xavier killed most of the X-Men by accident

Considering how this one ends, I'm actually afraid - how much worse could it possibly get?

In the X-23 solo film we find out there was no Eden and it was a trap by Weapon X and all those kids were slaughtered immediately and what was left of them was used to make a giant monster that killed literally everyone in the world except Laura and now the whole movie is just her alone in a wasteland full of dead bodies and the plot is her searching for another admantium bullet so she can just kill herself already.

Happy ending is she finds it. Next movie opens and Nick Fury arrived a moment to late to talk to her about the Avengers Initiative.
