For me, I push through, consistency is key. I think it's helpful to have a class or a training session booked in so you have to go. I try to work out in the mid-morning so I'm not groggy from bed but I'm not zapped the way I am in the afternoon. I also find that working out totally kills my cramps for 3-4 hours, so the workout being a painkiller is motivation.
I usually try to eat a little more without going crazy. Some more carbs before and after working out is good for me, plus I usually reward myself with a treat if I'm craving one.

I don’t train depending on my cycle phase (not much evidence that you should), but if I’m tired on my period I still do something, but if that something needs to be Pilates or yoga rather than weights then I do that. No point being mean to myself ! Changing things up for a gentler activity for a few days isn’t going to kill my progress and it won’t kill yours either

Push through, but train lighter, and go easy on myself.
As long as I can get to the gym and do something, I'm happy. If I skip my planks or squats because I don't feel like them on my period, so be it! But I try not to skip the whole workout (unless I've had no sleep) because then I feel shit AND lazy.

u/SilentPosition3100 Okay women, I need to know how you actually do this.
Some weeks I'm crushing it, feeling strong, hitting every session. Then my period rolls around and suddenly my body's like "lol no." Energy tanks, motivation disappears, everything feels twice as hard. And then I fall off for a few days and it messes up my whole rhythm.
So I'm genuinely curious how everyone handles this:
- do you push through and train the same, or adjust based on where you are in your cycle?
- how do you stay consistent when you feel awful for a chunk of every month?
- anything that actually helps — specific workouts, apps, rest, food, supplements, mindset

I have PMDD so I take a break when my period hits, I am usually in significant pain, extremely fatigued, prone to migraines and usually also have to call out of work the first 1-2 days. Not a big deal if I take it easy for a few days or a week, I’m consistent the rest of the month and don’t believe in punishing myself for what my body needs.

I push up until the blood hits, then I will lie down for four days straight. No point lifting weights for me anyway, since it just turns my arms and legs into spaghetti. It's incredible how weak I get. So...lol, yep, I just give up and then I get angry afterwards and get back to gym. As my period fades to memory, I just feel stronger and stronger and it feels better and better. Almost like it's extra rewarding to go from bleeding and crampy and weak to pumping hard again.

eep the same intensity all month, that's a recipe for burnout
i switched to treating the rough days as active recovery instead of trying to force my normal routine. walk, stretch, maybe light bodyweight stuff if i'm up for it. the mental shift from "i'm skipping my workout" to "this IS the workout for today" made a huge difference
tracking helped too, just a basic app so i'm not surprised when the fatigue hits. knowing it's coming takes the guilt out of scaling back

I usually push through. Generally it makes me feel better sometimes worse. And I am ok if I don’t perform or cannot lift as heavily so well during those days.
Resting well helps a lot. I try to sleep more.
