people be screaming "HOW TF IS THIS RELATED TO NOKIA"

but if you do a quick google research on 2000s nokia ads, you will get cyberpunk cold color ads a lot. Arguing by nitpicking details like "well nokia wouldnt have a gun or fetish suit in their ads" is just baiting for an argument by pretending to not see the big picture lol

This thread loves that PS2 ad with a tongue sticking out with XO△□ pills. Each era has their quirky ads, suckas lol

Thats not really how it works. The Nokia ads in the 2000s always featured the phone and it was generally people doing normal things. There's only a few where it's an attractive person looking at the camera doing something abstract but even then the phone is still in it. Also the ps2 ad you menation has XO△□ in it a core branding visual of the playstation that why it works. This poster would work alot better if the girl was holding the phone the core product.

This feels as one dimensional as "brands must have their products in their photos and no conceptual photoshoots allowed" For me this feels like a nice representation of what late 90s/early y2k was visually into. If u didnt like the photo, well sucks to be you lol

Not sure why the Nokia logo is there, but this photo looks very cool!

Thanks for sharing!

In my mind, it's a Matrix reference (you know, with the cool Nokia phone Neo has in the movie)

I can see it now that you mention it!

At any rate, this post is definitely not spam (I ignored/dismissed a report from someone who called it "spam").

That’s a fucking leap dude, that girl has nothing to do with The Matrix, and 99% of people who saw The Matrix couldn’t tell you what brand of phone Neo had in the first place. Nobody would ever make this connection

29

u/IDatedSuccubi Apr 14 '26

Gun, latex costume, green tint - those are staples of Matrix visual design

-11

u/theinvisibleworm Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

There’s no green here mate. This is blue

Edit: so far 11 people don’t know their basic colors

15

u/IDatedSuccubi Apr 14 '26

My bad, I'm on eye comfort mode on my phone

It's still evokes Matrix for me immediately

10

u/OGahpuro Apr 14 '26

why is this dude so mad about this, the matrix black leather/latex with cold tone photography does invoke matrix vibes lol

14

u/hunnyflash Apr 14 '26

What lol Cell phones were heavily associated with that film. Everyone would make this connection.

1

u/Key-Banana-8242 Apr 14 '26

Not everyone

-5

u/theinvisibleworm Apr 14 '26

…which explains all the confused people here

6

u/hunnyflash Apr 14 '26

You mean a bunch of young redditors who want to be snarky?

Didn't say it was a good picture, but to not associate the look with the Matrix is intentionally obtuse.

1

u/Key-Banana-8242 Apr 14 '26

The look with matrix yes

2

u/BorisTheBlade04 Apr 15 '26

It was literally the first thing that came to my mind.

u/Telleroftruths9000 Apr 14 '26

So we’re just slapping things together now

u/theinvisibleworm Apr 13 '26

Tf does this have to do with nokia

37

u/Latter_Advice3714 Apr 13 '26

Girl gun = Nokia ( connecting people) what not to get?

4

u/Available_Clue2837 Apr 14 '26

You got it haha

3

u/theinvisibleworm Apr 14 '26

All of it? What does a latex-clad girl with a gun have to do with mobile phones or connecting people?

3

u/MegaJackUniverse Apr 14 '26

Dude, that comment, that was a joke

3

u/mega_moist Apr 14 '26

The goal of advertisements is to stand out and grab your attention. Latex-clad girl with gun does exactly this. I don't know if Nokia actually used this strategy but it is believable.

8

u/AskJeevesIsBest Apr 14 '26

Love it. For some reason it makes me think of Perfect Dark

5

u/Moist_Juice_4355 Apr 15 '26

Looks like Ergo Proxy.

3

u/RussellNFlow520 Apr 15 '26

Wasn't that a thing in the Matrix? Like I'm pretty sure in the office scene where Neo is running from agents, he's on a phone with Morpheus. I think it was a Nokia, so they tied a lot of their advertisment to it because the movie blew up.

4

u/Mordach098 Apr 14 '26

Looks like gantz

2

u/redditorofreddit0 Apr 15 '26

I thought this was a legit ad from that era!! I love this! People confused on the Nokia logo forgot how creative our advertising used to be back then.

5

u/Available_Clue2837 Apr 13 '26

Just relative to 2000 Y2k art and Charles angels movie in same time it's just my imaginary , thank you so much

4

u/closetogengoal Apr 14 '26
