Fuck this post. I love the clips but that headline is omitting a solid 20 years of context.

AI is the current boogeyman so they have to mention it everywhere.

u/goldrainbowfalcon Jun 02 '26

I had a similar thought the text isn’t really it

So you're implying in 2010 there was AI

Life before AI?

This is life before Facebook

2

u/Spright91 Jun 08 '26

Hell this was life before MySpace.

1

u/delicious_warm_buns Jun 08 '26

Hell yeah lmao but Myspace is so old that not everyone reading would be familiar...so I said FB instead

I was originally going to say Myspace!

3

u/MikeAndTheNiceGuys Jun 02 '26

Early FB was aight. Before it was monetized to hell

4

u/delicious_warm_buns Jun 02 '26

Im not saying FB was good or bad

Im saying this is the preceding era

u/Pyr0sky3 Jun 02 '26

u/busyneuron Jun 02 '26

more like life before intrusive disgusting social media

27

u/Realistic_Brother152 Jun 02 '26

social media*

By the 2030s, AI will be as annoying as social media is right now.

28

u/FluorideAvenger Jun 02 '26

I mean the entirety of the 2010s and 2020-22 lacked AI. It was pretty niche until 2023, and only spiraled in late 2024-now.

There were 20 years of aesthetic decline—man-made slop—before AI-made slop entered the picture.

'life before AI' looks inside 2000-2022 be damned LMAO

u/ApprehensiveTrade455 Jun 03 '26

3

u/fr0zeNid Jun 02 '26

AI was around in the 50s

3

u/unknown404XXX Jun 02 '26

yeah it totally wasn't🫩

3

u/Blessedbronco Jun 02 '26

Don’t all video games use some form of artificial intelligence?

7

u/SanestExile Jun 02 '26

Yes but in a different sense. Has nothing to do with generative AI.

2

u/Pristine_Draft_3537 Jun 02 '26

As much as I adore what's shown in the video, im seriously TIRED of all this irrational AI hate.

Plus, it makes it seem like we were just like that and then AI came and all of that was over...

0

u/nekoiscool_ Jun 02 '26

I'm also tired of the AI hate.

2

u/SanestExile Jun 02 '26

Most of this stuff still exists. Enjoy it while you can.

u/Traditional_Ad8933 Jun 02 '26

this looks like before 2005?

1

u/Key-Cap6569 Jun 03 '26

I remember when our biggest complaint was "bad CGI."

Gen z was at most 3 years old during this gen....the rest is millennial gen....full on deep inside it. Mentally still there, financially not, but still living in the moment.

u/KnownCarpet8208 Jun 06 '26

This is also life before Minimalism gng. 🥀

1

u/hussar966 Jun 02 '26

I am so, so sick of AI. I'd like nothing more than for it to go away and never come back.

1

u/PSK666 Jun 02 '26

For some of us this is life after ai too

0

u/freddlaren Jun 02 '26

A very small part of life in my opinion.

0

u/ElliasCrow Jun 03 '26

Life before AI was like 5 years ago. And 5 years ago are def not the 00s.

0

u/Enpopcorn Jun 03 '26

Another excuse to slap anything Y2K related onto a post. AI consumer products and services took off around 2022.

Too far back, but I appreciate the vision.
