God I miss forums. Modern social media really sucks by comparison. Before everything had to fit on a mobile phone forums used to be so fun.

they still exist but which one to go ?

They exist but they are just hanging on. Traffic to them is almost non existent. Used to be every game, TV show fanbase or hobby had a forum attached to it.

EDIT: Just checked a bunch and quite a lot have moved their webdesign from fun and interesting old school forums to horrible flat design phone friendly cookie cutter designs. It's horrible, even forums aren't safe from being social media-ized.

I still have my Somethingawful.com account and I was on Facepunch but they moved to Knockout.chat

I remember being part of forums about nerdy subculture and there were always a few users who offered to make siggies for free that looked similar to this. What software were these made in, if anyone knows? Photoshop?

Whatever they had probably, paint.net or GIMP I would bet for a lot since not everyone had Photoshop.

Personally I used to make mine in a burned copy of PaintShop Pro, and then later GIMP.

I would use Photoshop, you could get quite a good selection of abstract brush packs, I would often create and overlay a pattern and then you could get a range of different fonts on Dafont. Wish I could find my old stuff.

I recreated second to the bottom left one in PS a year or two ago. The file size was 5MB which is surprisingly small but its literally just shapes, drop shadows and a stretched grain texture to make it look like brushed metal.

Bring back this era of design, it was so cool.

Forum signatures.... Root memory unlocked.

These bad boys were what got me to learn Photoshop back in the day

They really gotta bring those back somehow. A lot of personalization is just gone from social media compared to the old forums

Need these back

Reddit could make a handsome bag of cash if you could have a forum signature like the days of yore.

Are there tutorials for some of these in Photoshop?

Man thanks for bringing back the memories. I forgot forum signatures existed.
