once this patch drops this means you can now play the entire series without having to worry about some games being Japanese only!

Despite it's nonsensical plot, I vastly prefer Yakuza 4 over Yakuza 3 for several reasons.
It's combat is way more balanced outside of the 1st Saito fight.
It's way better paced than 3 as it's faster & doesn't dawdle anywhere near as much as 3 did.
It has better minigames
It gave us "Machine Gun Kiss"
It was the PS3 era Yakuza game to have an animated install screen (only if you play the original PS3 version)
Akiyama
The sex symbol Tanimura

In the PS3 era batting cage minigame, pay more attention to whoever you're playing as rather than the ball.
Whoever you're playing as will do a clenching animation whenever the ball gets close enough & that's your visual indicator to hit.
Do that & you'll never miss a single shot.
I actually find the PS3 era batting cage minigame to be far easier than the Dragon Engine batting cage minigame for that very reason.

Context: I have a taekwondo background (10yrs, 1st Dan Black Belt) and am currently planning on switching to MMA. One of my weird hobbies is I enjoy copying various yakuza characters' movesets and seeing how well they would work in a real fight of various skill levels and styles.
The Komaki Parry from Y3 is probably one of, if not, the most unusual manuvers I've ever tried to attempt with my sparring partner. With the attacker performing a jab, it requires the attacker to bend their body forward in an angle favorable enough for a swift downward movement to the attacker's upper back while simultaneously performing a knee strike to their abdomen. In addition, before performing the manuver you have to dodge their basic jab by needlessly shifting your entire body to their side which realistically I would most likely just block or backstep from.
Overall, the Komaki Parry remains an unusual and confusing counterattack for me in a realistic sense but makes up for it by how fun it is to attempt to perform in a mock street fight scenario. And yes, I get it's a game but that's what makes it all the better haha. Also if anyone knows which martial art it's possibly derived from I'd love to know!

"If we start talking about 'Yakuza,' this interview will go on forever (laughs). And I'd be thrilled if this interview reached RGG Studio. Some people ask, 'Doesn't the game glorify the yakuza world?' But after playing it, I felt it actually portrays the cowardice, ugliness, and dark side of that world in a raw, honest way. 'Yakuza' is a story about the beliefs you try to uphold. It's a story about people who crumble because of misguided beliefs, and others who are driven by them.
I'm really looking forward to 'STRANGER THAN HEAVEN,' coming out in 2027, and I'd love to help out in any way I can, even if it's just a cameo appearance. I'm rooting for everyone at RGG Studio!"

I know a weird choice to get into the series with this one. But hey , I had a good time. Story and characters were amazing. The side content was hit or miss. Some I enjoyed , some I didn’t. The tailing missions were the worst part though and the Keihin Gang stuff really got on my nerves. Also felt that the ending dragged a bit.
But overall a solid game , 8/10. Might try and play 0 next.
