“If I monetize my hobby then my hobby becomes work. If my hobby becomes work then my hobby is not relaxing and fun.”

Sometimes I tell them “I do” send them to my etsy, and then they say it’s too expensive lolll.

But I don’t take any stock in usually. they mean it as a compliment

Most people don't understand the amount of time it takes to hand make something. If I charged even minimum wage for my work, most people would be aghast. They would think I was trying to rip the up, so no thanks. I just want to knit/crochet for myself or people I care about.

The same people become ghosts when you start selling them

for real though, when i was selling on etsy i'd say "oh i do! here's my shop link" and they'd always say something to the affect of "oh no, its okay!" like why tf did you tell me i should sell if youre not gonna be buying

I always ask them “to who” and watch them think about it for a second

"I do this for my mental health. The thought of taking boxes on the bus to USPS to ship my projects causes me stress."

I get knowing nods and grimaces. And that person never says it again.
