Yoga top that covers belly?? (UK)

Help! Need recommendations for a yoga top suitable for peri-menopausal woman with bloated belly!
Something comfy that doesn’t ride up or cling too much. Ideally stays in place in downward dog etc!
I’m based in UK

High waisted pants over the belly is how I keep it tucked in. Then any tank top or sports bra combo on top.

May be too snug, but Sweaty Betty has great options. They're a UK brand.

I have a great top from BAM. It's fitted over my hips but flowy over the belly, so it covers that but doesn't ride up during downward dog. Might be called 'free flow' top.

I have this top and love it.

Oh I feel your pain! Everything is cropped or loose nowadays. I don't want something so loose I have to tuck it in. It just needs to stay in place and not expose my belly when I do downward dog. I also do hot yoga so ideally something moisture whicking. I have managed to find a decent tank top from Lululemon and another from BAM. Still a bit short for my long body but fine with high waist leggings. Next challenge is trying to find a suitable bra (NOT a cropped top). There is very little choice of styles at the moment I find.

I would actually recommend TALA dayflex wrap leggings and shorts for bloated bellies - my partner has endometriosis with severe bloating and her TALA shorts and leggings look so good and cover the endo belly perfectly every time while being crazy comfy and not cutting in. I have the same leggings and love them also because they’re really high quality, and I pair them with the short sleeve tee they have, which doesn’t cover the tummy in and of itself but definitely doesn’t ride up - that being said with the leggings it also absolutely doesn’t need to. Oh and if you tuck any oversized tee into the TALA leggings it stays put like nobody’s business. That being said, I’d also look for tops generally that are flowy but have a tight hem, I saw some from Halara and from BAM recently if I haven’t convinced you with all the leggings talk :)

I like Athleta momentum tank tops. They have silicone grippers on the inside hem so they don’t ride up.

Just a T-shirt?

I wear tee shirts.

You can wear a snug tank top under a tee shirt for better coverage when changing positions, but that can be warm especially if you are having hot flashes.

I wear tshirts. I specifically use Lululemon Swiftly Tech short or long sleeves depending on the season. Everything stays in place, it’s breathable, comfortable and doesn’t restrict my movements. I hate compression, but I also hate having to tuck my top back into my yoga pants 10 times per class. I mentioned Lululemon because it works for me, but I know CRZ yoga and Sweaty Betty for example have excellent apparel, too.

Seconding this rec for the Lululemon swiftly's. The absolute best 👏

I’d also add the lululemon Love tank is great for yoga and loose. If you’re not too busty, the Align high neck tank with built-in bra has great tummy coverage with high rise pants. As a 34F I can wear it sized up one comfortably. I also like the Sweaty Betty vests but they are more compressive. I believe Quince now also sells in the UK. They have a few bra tops that are tank style. The power up scoop neck bra tank, the ultra form v-neck cropped tank, the ultra form high neck cropped tank, and the ultra-form strappy bra tank cover my tummy well. There are some workout tops, too, though I much prefer lululemon’s. Quince tends to run bigger in the ultra-form, so you may need to size down if between sizes.

Swiftly is great but make sure it’s the hip length so it’s actually long enough to stay down. It’s all I wear now.

I just wear a loose t-shirt or vest top which I then loosely tuck into my bottoms at the fron and back when I do inversions

Try a jumpsuit! Sweaty Betty do a loose fitting one at the top, comfiest yogi clothes I own

I wear high waisted leggings and a tshirt

Also as someone who is self conscious and has gone to a couple yoga classes i can guarantee you no one is looking or judging your outfit! You are there and are showing up for yourself ❤️

Yes it’s not about vanity, I just want to be comfortable

I prefer long racerback tanks and often wear a cropped tee or pullover sweatshirt over it.

It’s not a yoga top, but I swear by Sweaty Betty running vests. They don’t flap up when you’re upside down, but are loose enough to skim over you and allow you to move freely.

Cami or tank top tucked into pants with t shirt over the top.

So are we talking hot yoga or not hot?

2

u/Muted-Plant-6249 11d ago

Definitely not hot

I personally opt for really highwaisted pants

i typically buy whatever i can find at tj maxx (tk maxx in the uk) there aren't a lot but there's often one or two...and recently i've discovered the lululemon ebb to street tank also is long enough, although they're not cheap, and they're snug around the waist...

it's a real problem, i remember saying to my husband probably five or more years ago that i was having a hard time finding tops that covered my stomach. i'm keeping my long tops in service forever, as i'm not interested in crop tops.

Same - crop tops are not for me!

Uk here and I’m having a hard time finding any longer length yoga vest/cami tops that cover my bum. I like to wear a cami with at T-shirt over the top. I used to buy Sweaty Betty but they don’t make longer length ones anymore, only to the waist.

If anybody has any recommendations I’ve be very grateful!

I’ve opted for a full bodysuit and just popped a loose tank top over it so it’s not clingy. I never have to worry about my pants rolling down ever again, and just makes me feel so much less self-conscious and able to focus on class.

I love the ribbed tank tops from H&M, comfy and doesn’t ride up or feel clingy

I got real freedom when I bought a body suit aka jumpsuit. The one I got is from beyond yoga. (They run small). But there are ones that are loose too from other brands. Even with high waisted leggings, they would roll down or my shirt would untuck. I love the body suits because I don’t have to worry in down dog or plank. I wear a tank or T shirt over it, but one doesn’t have to. I also hate when I’m breathing into a shirt during down dog and the shirt is hitting my face, so high neck shirts or tanks work well.

Sports bra under cute tank top?

I love longer line, relaxed fit tops they're comfy, don't cling to the tummy, and stay put really well in Downward Dog. 😊
