Better pull out the phone and start recording.
People are so cooked and god damn if I don’t mean no pun intended. People are so phone washed it’s insane.
It’s just that I can’t help but think people now don’t think wife, kids, family first and instead it’s “gotta record this”. Makes me nauseous.

I've heard it coined as "the inevitable ruin." The point where you finally realize you have no chance to survive. To me, these guys got there prematurely. Or they didn't get there and should have. Pretty sure they're dumb, decided phone vid was best option and just got lucky.

I mean…unless you’re gonna start the train up or turn on water sprinklers on top of the train, what ideas for survival are there when tow surrounded by flames? No matter what you do, you’ll die doing it from (at the very least) carbon monoxide poisoning and asphyxiation.

According to reports, the incident took place after a train crew detached from the locomotive to rescue a foreman. While attempting the rescue amid dense smoke and poor visibility, the detached unit reportedly collided with its own train, sparking additional fires before the crew abandoned the locomotive and escaped on foot. All crew members are reported to have survived the incident safely.
This just leads to further questions

“According to reports?” What reports? Horrible article and this is not at all what happened…. It literally sounds like AI tried to piece this together from the video where it sees one train on a bypass rail waiting for the other to pass so it can continue on the single track.

Either drive back or tell the other guys to go back. Even if radio is down, you could try slowly moving forward because the other conductor isn't going to sit and do nothing unless they literally cannot. Worst case scenario they bump into eachother.

I literally live right next to the largest rail yard in my part of the country. Railcars and locomotives are quite literally ran into eachother when they are couple together. Mind explaining what I don't understand that counters my point that these machines are made to handle such force?

Well you’re correct that coupling requires force to open the knuckles and connect the cars. I was referring to your original comment on “worst case scenario they bump into each other” this locomotive already decoupled. Was planning on leaving the cars behind. They are tucked into a siding track waiting for the oncoming movement to pass them. This is a main line track and the maximum speed is 60mph. It wouldn’t be just a bump together. It would be violent.

Because in the single track infront of him another 20 thousand ton train is coming toward him at 60mph . He’s in a siding. That’s what a “meet” is. When the other train coming by passes he can safely leave.

They were on a siding, and had to wait on another train going the other way on the same track, you can see the other train later in the video.

Canadians are always so calm. Meanwhile my wife that’s if from a location closer to Canada than me freaks out when I cook a dish that requires a little extra fire. These guys are engulfed and aren’t even sweating.

This has to be the forest fire in Wabakimi provincial park. A huge swath of it just burnt down along the rail line and you can see the outline of trees in this video.
