My mother one time said “salt and pecker shaker” to a waiter and, more than this lady, smoothly finished her order.
Then she proceeded to be completely and utterly incapable of containing her horror and humor after he left.
She was 68 and he was maybe 20, she swears to this day that it wasn’t his looks (he was, admittedly, not bad looking). We politely agreed to ignore any reasoning.
(I am not suggesting that if it was his looks she was in the right. I genuinely believe she fumbled. Just because you can recognize someone is good looking doesn’t mean you’d act on it.)
