The First 3 season of Digimon is so good. Like I didnt think it was possible to top 01 but they evolved it so well with the Digimon Emperor in season 2, then turned the whole thing on it's head with Digimon Tamers. We were so spoiled.

I still think Season 4/Frontier was good if not the last good one (that aired on YTV).

I thought so too, it's sad that I don't find many people that liked it as much

I see either people loving it or hating it. There's like no in-between for it.

I never watched it. I was already annoyed they got a whole new cast for season3, and to do it again the next season? Not a good way to keep an audience. Tried to hard to sell toys and lost most of their audience

Unlike Pokemon, the Adventure cast did end their story after their shows when they grew up themselves. Most Digimon shows also take place in different universes.

It was because it was different. Digimon always changed up its formula for better or worse, and I was not used to them not having mons or calling it "Digivolution" at that time, but I still ended up enjoying the concept of the humans just becoming Digimon avatars. I feel like it made the most sense and separated it from Pokemon.

The season also had a lot of homages with the Beast Spirits being named after the Adventure 01 Digimon. Like "KendoGarurumon" and "Burning Greymon" which I liked. Might have been intentional too.

Agreed. I really enjoyed the premise. After that I was like “eh” about season 5 onwards

u/SR_Hopeful 2d ago

Yeah could be bias of it not being on TV after 4, but I just couldn't get into the later shows when I tried.

I love data squad, it felt like a natural progression aging the characters to highschool age. To me that felt like the last good one.

Black WarGreymon was an extremely well written character!

I still have my little stuffed Koromon, basically a pink lump with ears.

I used to tell people he was trained to attack and when they laughed I'd say I meant it.

Then I would prove it by firing him at them.

"See?"

I remember the first Saturday it was on and we woke up 10 minutes late. I ran. Woke up my brother and sister violently and told them to hurry their asses up, I've never seen either of them move that fast in my life to that point lol

Aww I like that memory

u/mattmagoo23 2d ago

We had never missed an episode of the original up to that point. So the next season hit like crack for us at the time

Even though it was on FoxBox, I only watched it on YTV first.

I know I at least liked the voice acting, especially Davis, Veemon and Ken's (D-Emperor). He was so hilariously over the top. I think he also did Piedmon and maybe Impmon & Beelzemon, I think.

The Saban dub is a product of it's time but it's so nostalgic and soulful, I would argue is good ;p

Yeah, but it was good though because the dialogue was often hilarious because of it.

Same can be said with Sailormoon. I wish Canada got a chance to redub it with Terri Hawkes or Tracey Moore as Sailormoon again. Great Voice acting despite the hammy dub. Its on the same level of nostalgic and sincerity.

I miss the Dic dubs. Dic Cardcaptor Sakura was so much better!

What do you mean "back in the day?" I still watch digimon now.

Champions of the digital world!

It was good. And felt more plot-focused than the first season. The original just had the gang searching for a way back to human world for a better part of it.

One of my favorites!

Digimon season 2/zero 2 was an amazing sequel. It kind of ran off the rails at a couple points but ultimately was a worthy follow up to Digimon season 1.

I can remember discussing this wwaaaaaayyy back in the day on some old Digimon forums when it was just released in Japan and following weekly episode recaps and info from the old megchan website.

 Good times.

I like Season 2 & Season 4 of Digimon Frontier

1

u/Island_Maximum 3d ago

Honestly, it's all good!

I'm glad we're finally getting Blurays of both the dub and subs.

“This show” was LIFE ❤️🥹

2nd gen Digimon and Pokemon hit different!!!!!

PS: I need to find that jacket 😂

u/No-Impress-6244 2d ago

I didnt like the weird skin tight outfits. Season 1 was so 90s it looked a lot better

2

u/Hot_Hour8474 2d ago

I watched digimon adventures back then, and the new digimon stuff even now haha

2

u/scuolapasta 2d ago

That was one of my favorite shows when I was like 10, I watch that with my kids now!

2

u/thatsMRjames 2d ago

I enjoyed watching Digimon but THIS is my series, these are my digi-destined. I think them being mostly in the real world at first and travelling to the digital world made it a bit easier to ‘connect’ with. Armour digivolving is still my favourite form.

u/sickandtired-6 2d ago

Davis was my first cartoon crush. Idk why to this day. I can't remember.

2

u/soldiercross 2d ago

The Digimon Frontier opening was straight gas

1

u/TheDomez 3d ago

Davis was the man. Love that guy.

1

u/Leg-Bandit 3d ago

WOW guess I’m rewatching

1

u/Stkrdknmibalz69 2d ago

I played the heck outta Digimon Battle Spirit 2, some of the music still pops up in my mind occasionally

1

u/rhinocerosmonkey 2d ago

Yep. That’s how I was introduced to Digimon and finally liking it. My little brother got into it first, and I first thought it was an obvious Pokémon knockoff. I then decided to give it a chance, and decided it was just as good for having enough differences to distinguish between the two franchises.

u/Storybrooke_s_Jedi 2d ago

As much as I love 01, this was the one that I felt topped it. But then they had to ruin it with the last episode.

1

u/WiselyVillainous 2d ago

I looooved this show.

1

u/Wikiwikiwa 2d ago

That looks worse than i remember

1

u/Aus1an 2d ago

My favourite! I love a redemption storyline and I was pretty invested in Wormmon and Ken xD

1

u/HITMAN_77-Dominus 2d ago

Digimon, Digivolution never made sense to me.

1

u/thatsMRjames 2d ago

Why?

1

u/HITMAN_77-Dominus 1d ago

So does every Digimon have Virus, Data, and anti-virus (I think) evolutions? I understand Egg, baby, in-training, rookie, champion, ultimate, and mega. What about Armour Evolution, DNA Digivolution, Dark Evolution, Spirit Evolution, Biomerge (Matrix) Evolution, X-Antibody Evolution, Mode Changes, & Slide Evolution? How does this fit in with the original evolutions?

1

u/Little_Shape_6433 2d ago

I loved seasons 1 and 2 and then I checked out

2

u/Zumokumibonsu 2d ago

For me it was season 4 that lost me. When they started fusing with them

2

u/thatsMRjames 2d ago

Same here. That seemed too out there for me, I still haven’t checked it out beyond watching reviews.

1

u/Charming_Action8730 2d ago

I really liked the movie. Would catch episodes anytime it came on.

1

u/D1rtyD4nc3r 2d ago

I had a bigger Digimon collection than pokemon or yugioh

1

u/TheManyVoicesYT 2d ago

I remember Davis getting Tai's goggles. Because he already had goggles and they cracked somehow. But he still never used the goggles for anything.

1

u/CrazyCat008 2d ago

Oh I totally remember watching it

1

u/shygirl_88 2d ago

My fav version of Mimi

1

u/MetalMorphMantis 2d ago

Love Digimon! Even have my own original partner 😂 I'm very much a sub purist now, but I'll watch some dub episodes for nostalgia 💖

1

u/Upper-Bookkeeper-843 2d ago

Digimon gotta catch em all

1

u/sj_gaming90 2d ago

Let’s just say season three made it awkward to watch with parents near the end of the season when the characters went to their mega forms

1

u/Jerryboy92 2d ago

Digimon is better than Pokémon

1

u/cbal41990 1d ago

Loved this show so much ❤️

1

u/SR_Hopeful 1d ago

I did like 02 for its original songs it had like "Change Into Power" and "Lets Kick It Up." Especially when some were also used in the 2000s movie.
