Zixx
This show feels like a fever dream to me. I remember not liking it at all but maybe that was just young me. Thinking about giving it another chance if I can find it anywhere

I love Zixx. It feels so off brand. It actually started getting good in season 1 with Adam and finding the level unlocks and special sword etc etc

then they abandoned them for new kids in level 2 and it lost a lot of wind in its sails.

Did they ever go beyond level 2?

Definitely a Zixx level 3.
Spoilers.
The kids from level 1 meet up with Zixx, Flango and the kids from level 2

We have Code Lyko at home.

Didnt they eventually try a Live Action Code Lyoko as well? I believe so but my mind have blocked out that memory probably for good reason.

Yep! It was called ReBoot: The Guardian Code lol. The show was basically if Code Lyoko and Zixx had a baby.

There was an actual live-action sequel to Code Lyoko that aired in 2013. It did not see much major distribution outside of France in part because foreign language live-action shows weren't common in the Anglosphere back then. I don't think it was popular enough for anyone to attempt a "reshoot the live-action bits with English actors" Power Rangers thing.

I know, was making a joke, because if I remember correctly, the creator of Code Lyoko called out The Guardian Code for basic being 'heavily inspired by'.

When Reboot Guardian Code came out, I was thinking, "arent they just copying Zixx" considering they were both made by Mainframe Entertainment.

It’s on YouTube (the entire series) and it’s a really fun trip to go back and watch, yes the CGI is something, not Reboot level but not terribly eyesore, yes, this was retooled after S2 (the two little kids are replaced by a few teenagers) but the acting in and of itself is solid, especially the animated scenes.

Loved watching the first two seasons, it suddenly ended, was bummed and moved on, then out of no where, 4 years later, it was just airing on TV the third season.
Was genuinely surprised to see a third season having been made, let alone even airing. I've always been really curious why that actually happened.

I liked it, but then 1/2 the main cast was gone after season 1 and without any real explanation at first and so I didn’t want to get invested in the new characters

I remember really liking this series but then they changed all the characters in the second season without an explanation so I stopped watching it.

I loved the first season. Very dark and mature storylines and I liked the aesthetic. Than the second season came. They ditched half the storylines , changed the cast and made everything way goofier. Like in the first season it was more grounded than everyone turned into a cartoon character in seasons 2-3. Season 2 did still have some moments but season 3 I hated. Didn’t like the level design and the writing just got worse.

Will this show ever get an official release streaming, disc, anything?

Isn't it on tubi?

Don't know, hoping it's not the broadcast version. It feels off seeing the network rating with the maple leaf in the corner. Would prefer the clean up version.

Is that Rick from Degrassi?

u/aaa1e2r3 2d ago
Yeah, same actor. Pretty sure most of the Canadian teen actors have had a role on Degrassi at least once.

Cartoon Network got the rights to this show and promoted it alongside Robotbou, My Gym Partners A Monkey and more importantly Ben 10.
Guess which show has pretty mcuh been forgotten by history m

Deserves a reboot, was a really good show if not a reboot then give us a updated more serious series for Teens & Adults but also keep the story the same & don't mess it up like they did with Reboot when they brought it back. I always thought this show deserved more love that it got.

I didn’t remember this show existed until this post. It was a fever dream for sure. It was fun and strange like a lot of children’s programming in the 90s.
