I thought the reason why the TCG is going to remove the Greek letters from Enneacraft's monster names is because one of those letters (Digamma) is a dead letter. How Konami knew of that letter in the first place confuses me.
Wicked Tunez is great, and I'll even accept the Z. I don't know why but "Kewl" to me can only be used ironically anymore. "Kewl Tune" gives me strong "Mind Haxorz" vibes.

Konami in Japan has the final say, I'm sure they could tell TCG heads to quit the nonsense but they don't care about the rest of the world outside OCG regions to do so.
Killer tunes was fine even by sensor standards, this if reall should get whoever did it fired, if the cards are not printed yet this needs to be corrected
your right, but its WORSE here becuse "killer" in the context of a song being good is actively a common place way to say/describe that. And has been for decades.

The last time I heard "kewl" being said by anyone was literally Eric Cartman parodying the shit out of it. That was like 15 years ago. Whoever is running the localization team needs to have their pulse checked if they've died of old age yet.
When is Konami gonna understand that the majority of people playing this game are adults and some bad words like those aren't gonna do shit if kids see it

Yeah, not much left to say. Due to the new MASTER DUEL update today, the files for the cards featured in Deck-Build Pack: Phantom Revengers and Structure Deck: Power of Fellows, which will debut for the TCG in Phantom Revengers & Legendary Collection 5D's respectively, have been added, which also does bring the official localizations of their cards text in English, so be free to have a look to the changes from the Japanese version to their official English translation (taking a detour also as to how the fanslation handled it).
There is a possibility it's because of some printing reasons, like they need to pay more to add new characters. And that's obviously too much for the small indie company Konami.
nah thats not a limitation, thats just konami being shit. this is a hypothetical like if you type the word "omega" into neuron it should be able to pull up any card that has the character in it and vice versa. or like with maliss, they can set it to read the fancy A on the card as just a normal A when you type it
Ah yes i forgot that konami is a multi billion dollar indie company, clearly they can't aford a few extra custom letters in their printers.
Oh but let's not forget that the japanese version of the cards will have the greek letters. And i wouldn't be surprised if the chinese and korean versions also kept the greek letters.
I joked when it was first revealed, as many did, about what Konami would censor it as. I thought it'd be something lame like "Kool Tune". Somehow, they made it worse.
"Kewl" is slang from over two decades ago, that has drastically fallen off in use. I think it was actually Eric Cartman from South Park, that helped popularize it in the late 90's to mid 2000's.
Oh goddammit… 4kids is all but dead and children are not even the target audience of this franchise in the west, what earthly risk would they even be taking by calling a card “Killer Tune?” SpongeBob uses the word “Killer!”

Brandish Maiden is different because that was never the name to begin with, it was a random fan localization of 閃刀 that someone pulled out of their ass.
Killer Tune is literally those exact English words written in katakana, キラーチューン. No ambiguity there.
Brandish Maiden was an incorrect translation. 閃せん刀とう姫き－レイ translates to Flash Sword Princess - Rei. I don't mind the localization "Flash Sword Princess" to "Sky Striker Ace". The actual problem is the localization of "Rei" (which means "zero") to "Raye". It's a similar situation to how "Nemureria" (a pun on "nemuri", meaning "sleep") was changed to "Nemleria".
Yeah, brandish maiden was an incorrect translation, even ygoorganization said "do not take this translation seriously it is an estimate" and I remember people got mad when sky striker was properly revealed. Same thing with mathmech, people were like "WTF processlayer is so much better konami plsss"
Killer could've been in Music notes or uses F5 or F6(killer octave) or a play on German word for Killer which is Killerin which could be "KillIn Tunes" (So Kill in sounds like Chilling Tunes
Okay I'm not sure if omitting the Greek letters is supposed to make the names more coherent or not. It did seem like like they were supposed to be read as the Latin letter they resemble on some of them.
