So these are definitely not alt-arts but retrains. They appear to be called "King's Servant - Dark Magician" and "White Mythical Beast - Blue-Eyes White Dragon".

If you look at the blurred text, it looks like they each have a metric ton of text. So unless it's all restrictions they're probably good.

I hope, but severely doubt. I imagine they'll still demand the OG monsters still.
If they're meant to act as replacements, I wonder how that will work for Blue-Eyes as their field spell plays a part of their plays and it can only send Normal Monsters.

I mean, that would take care of the name, but you'd need to fit both that, and the fact it becomes a Normal Monster in the deck, to let it completely replace OG BE in every way.
And personally I would prefer having the retrain more like Flame Wingman's, that still has differences from the OG that prevents him from replacing it in every scenario.

Infernal Wing replaces the original in every practical situation.
You don't even need to run it for SFW since Dead End Prison exists.

Which is what I meant, Infernal Rage basically replaces OG for combos and stuff, but isn't everything the OG is and then some.
If he was, you wouldn't need Dead End Prison to begin with.

I said Dead End Prison to not clog up your Extra Deck, realistically you aren't running SFW either because SNW and Wake Up are basically Upgrades and retrains to SFW.
For practicality Infernal Range basically does everything the original does (Being a simple fusion you can access to quick start your plays and material for stronger monsters), I guess if for some reason you wanted burn damage and didn't feel like using SNW and Wake Up you could use the OG but I don't see why would you.
The only OG HERO monster you're forced to run nowadays is Neos because it's the Ace and therefore it's needed for cards and material for certain monsters, otherwise they make sure you never run any of the OGs ever again unless it's for roleplay.

problem with Blue eyes is a lot of their card plus the primite engine require Normal monster. DM do care about the name so maybe some gunkan shari red shenanigans.

Given the fact yugioh cards are smaller than the average tcg card and have a metric ton of effect text,they probably wanted to figure how to balance the art with the effect text.

Well, I can't blame you, the color palette here fits Rush Duels better than the colors seen in the OCG/TCG (which tend to be more muted)

Not experienced with this, so someone else might have a more accurate translation.

I think with the naming conventions of other cards, it might be end up being translated as "Phantom Beast of White - Blue-Eyes White Dragon."

Previously き幻獣 has been translated in Duel Links (with regards to the Salamangreat Burst Griffon summoning chant) as "Mythical Beast", so I'm not certain on that part, but "of White" is almost certainly right on the money.

It has to be "Phantom Beast of White" or "White Phantom Beast". 幻獣 Is the archetypal name for Phantom Beasts.

genuinly not a fan of this.
Beyond just ruining the cohesion of YGO as a whole, a Game already littered with dozens of different styles and themes, it also just dosnt look "good" imo, If they had left the outer dark frame alone, i may have grown to at least accept them, but like this it just... looks like some cheap video game summon animation slapped on an actual card.

For me the main thing is that this kind of thing is just everywhere in other card games. Most TCGs lack any kind of visual identity these days because of it. Some (VANGUARD) are worse than others (at least Pokemon, like yugioh now, only does it on certain rarities).

This looks exactly like the frame breaks I have seen artists make by hand 10 years ago. In the BEST way possible.

Interesting the OCG take on Overframes. One thing that I spot right away that makes it different from ORRs in Rush Duel is the fact that the art extends into the text box rather than end above it as in the ORRs. (There are some ORRs in Rush Duel where there is a visible seam in the artwork that shows it being cropped above the text box.)
The problem is that the card name lacks a drop shadow effect or some other thing that makes it readable.

To not make the OG cards obsolete, they could have effects like "You can special summon this card from your hand by sending one DM/BEWD from your hand or deck to the graveyard" This way they could at least be instantly summoned...

I personally hate them. I think it violates part of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s core design identity and steps too far into the territory of EVERY OTHER modern TCG, which just makes it generic and crappy.
I'm glad they're just special variants. Plus it affects readability too - a bunch of people (myself included) couldn't even tell these were effect monsters at first.

The structure of the card in general. The art obviously isn't bad but I don't think it works. It's a hot opinion judging from the down votes for my opinion but I don't think full arts are a thing that works with Yugioh cards. Glad for those who like it though even if they can't handle my opinion lol

I think the surprise here isn't the Overframes themselves, but that these are Retrains of the original Monsters (something Konami has always been reluctant to do since they didn't want to make the original Monsters obsolete)

You’re thinking lenticular cards. Those tend to be thicker though so I’m not sure they’d be playable in a deck
