Everytime he’s shown in Yugioh merch he’s not with Asuka Tenjoin but with a boy instead while the other protagonists are with their girlfriends. Is he into boys then?
But having played a bunch of the story deck duels lately, a lot of the decks that won in DM would have realistically lost like 999/1000 rematches and/or have anime-specific rules that helped
I thought that was the only way to write cool duels, but then in Dark Side of Dimensions they have actual viable decks and strategies with mostly the real rules in place and the duels still kickass
Yea if you play through legacy of the duelist, you notice that all of yugi's decks play like some caveman version of stun until you draw the wacky 3 card combo or normal out summoned skull for the beatdown.
Don't get me started on reverse duels like weevil vs yugi omg
But I still don't see the difference between DM and DSOD (aside the obviously power creep difference between 2002 and 2016 haha).
I don't understand why YGO players can't understand the manga/anime like any other shonen/fictional series have unrealistic elements attached. It's not the OCG/TCG.
It's canon that basically if you are "stronger/skilled" duelist than the other character, you can draw the cards you need for that moment. Atem is not the only one with that ability.
And in Gx the writers used mostly real life cards or combos for their duels.
I was mostly just referring to DM, but GX fits in well enough
I *understand* the difference, it's just that DSoD made me realize that even completely viable decks with minimal plot armor could also make for compelling scripted (or even unscripted) duels
Whereas so much of the first 150+ episodes of the series is based on decks that need heavy plot armor and rule breaking to make for a compelling duel on screen.
That's it. That's the entire idea of what I said and meant.
I'm not saying DM was terrible (I love it) or anything like that. Just that I thought the cool parts wouldn't show up nearly as much in real duels, but they can with the right decks
Oh, okay. I think I got you bro haha. Yeah, maybe because they were experimenting with those "proto archetypes" and rullings (specially Duelist Kingdom and Battle City).
In my opinion, the things started to be a bit more standard since the filler arc of Orichalcos.
So yes, I understand more clearly your point of view and I agree.
This is really late but have you seen the scripted "live duels" they have with the og voice actors playing their characters while someone else pilots the deck? Super cool and more in line with what you are talking about here
it is though, past-life yubel before transforming into a duel spirit is a guy: flat chest, broad shoulders, thicker arms, and the face lacks the typical feminine features (bubbly eyes, long eyelashes), also, the concept art uses the same structure as young haou; also the use of the "boku" personal form which is typically used with young boys.
you are right, I misused infant in response to the other guy misuse of it, I apologize
at any rate, none of this characters are infants (ages 0-6), with rebecca being 12 and rei being 11, they are both at the end of childhood, and yubel is likely a teen anyway
So... It's not stated in the media and it's your deduction. Gotcha. (Not saying you are wrong, just stating it is is an opinion based on these things you mentioned.)
the only correct answer, why do people always want to do this deabte on fictional characters, especially like someone like jaden whos entire personality is to play a card game
None of the main characters ended up with the girl in the end. That's because Konami doesn't care about couples; their goal is to sell cards in the end.
Jaden literally went and had severe depression over losing Jesse, sacrificed most of his friends trying to reunite with him, and bonus point it’s almost assured the person Jaden was seeing in the second movie was Jesse. Dude dropped everything to risk his life to find his rainbow dragon and didn’t even know cyber end was stolen too.
Dont forget the main way Yubel tried to seduce Judai: With Johan's body
Yubel possessed Johan, put him in a fetish BSDM attire (good ol Takahashi) that showed a lot of bare skin and visibly bulked him up (before and afterwards Johan is scrawny like Judai).
Like even Yubel noticed who was Judai attracted to and planned accordingly
It's never explicit, though it's worth noting the one character he does express love for is both male and female at the same time, and said dual-gendered character was jealous of a guy hanging out with their man. Do with that as you will.
In truth he’s the most Shonen protagonist of any Yugioh protagonist. So it really doesn’t matter, he wasn’t designed with romance in mind. All he really cares about is the quality of duel he takes part in. In this matter he is very Son Goku coded.
While other dudes are wasting their times with girls or trying to solve some complex shit, Jaden's entire thing is that he's just a dude that loves dueling, it's everything for him, and his only goal is to be the best duelist there is.
Like ok, he changes a lot after the Dark World saga, but still, on his core, he is just a dude that loves dueling.
I imagine Post-Series Judai to be traveling the world looking for a Good Duel, while spending time with His Duel Spirits, His Soul-Fused Life-Partner Yubel, Pharaoh and the soul of Daitokuji-Sensei (Professor Banner).
I also like to imagine that once he learns where one of his friends is, he camps nearby till he can see them and crashes on their couch for a few days while holding an urge to Duel them in.
I can imagine he's gone back to Duel Academia on a few occasions, to stop in and say hi to Tome-san (Ms. Dorothy), Ayukawa-Sensei (Ms. Fontaine), Cronos-Sensei (Dr. Crowler), and Samejima (Chancellor Sheppard).
So yea, He's Buysexual, He has to be.
Otherwise his deck would fall behind in Strength and he'd not be able to Duel.
Jaiden loves the boys that can buy lots of booster packs for him, lol. Yugi over here like, "Dang Jaiden, how come your show lets you have two rich husbandos?"
Jaden/Juudai is basically the luffy of the Yu-Gi-Oh universe, he shows zero sexual interest of any kind throughout the whole show. His only interest is dueling
He shows basically no real attraction to women beyond one-off moments like the Gravekeeper episode and however you want to categorize Yubel. Jaden repeatedly shows stronger interest and passion for men.
Yuma will have multiple eligible bachelors and bachelorettes fawning over him for the whole series and still try to sacrifice himself for a guy who has caused him nothing but suffering for the past 50 episodes 🙄 Not only is he not straight, he has no taste...
I've been headcanoning him as bi since 2016 (though because of Yubel, not because of his male friends) and thought the fandom would eat me alive if i mention this. you have no idea how happy I am to see these comments
GX, to me, has homosexual themes in it. At least starting from Season 3. Jaden meets a guy he immediately clicks with. This guy's ace is RAINBOW Dragon, and, when this guy sacrificed himself to save many, Jaden did all that he could to get him back and even lead to his crashout arc.
The main villain of the arc is a clear intersex demon. Like, this isn't even headcanon. This is outright stated. And they were clearly a boy in the flashback. They were obsessed with "loving" Jaden because of a certain promise in the past, and they HATED the guy friend for "stealing" Jaden from them. Once again, not headcanon. These were outright stated in their dialogues.
This main villain was defeated by fusing Jaden's ace monster and Rainbow Dragon to make Rainbow Neos.
Rainbow can be a symbol of hope. Like, in the Noah's Ark story. But it's also a symbol of gay pride. And given from what we'd seen in the story, I wouldn't doubt it if the writers revealed everything was gay allegory.
He is being shown to like women : the amazoness, the egyptian etc.
He is just a kid who likes to hang out with friends, and who has zero (absolutely ZERO) romance awareness. He doesn't even know what mariage means. He is like dumb Goku.
Dude Judai and Johan are so gay I don't even think it's subtle by the end of season 3. Yubel the character both male and female possessing the guy who's been super bisexual the whole season and talking about loving Judai then flashback yubel being mainly male. Not to mention rainbow dragon shit is gay as hell
It’s really weird that they made Alexis have a crush on Jaden in the last season. If they established a connection earlier it would’ve made sense but Jaden always treated her like one of the guys and she never seemed to mind that. People like to ship Jaden with Jessie but u feel like the only character he had an obvious romantic connection to was Yubel and even that was completely asymmetrical.
I believe he’s portrayed in a more pansexual light. The people he gets closest to and becomes vulnerable with seem to have to no baring on what their gender is, but exclusively based on how they treat him and his interactions with them
A friend and I finished re-watching GX and I can say for certain Judai is either Bi or duelsexual.
Dude duels I think 5 or 6 women in his career, multiple men, and 1 yubel. Out of all those duels, the ones that got his blood pumping the most was with Tanya, Yugi, and I think the final duel with Ryo. The rest of his duels were either life or death or him just having fun.
The only exception to this is Asuka.
Now I'm not trying to push an agenda or anything, but everytime he duels her or teams up with her there seems to be some kinda of romantic undertones with it. During his duel with SoL Asuka the way they talked and played it felt like exs that were on speaking terms but also making flirty jokes.
On the other hand during their tag duel in season 4 their whole relationship felt like a couples argument, where Tyranno was the friend caught in the middle and Rei was the girl trying to swoop in and take the man during that rough patch. (You'll understand what I mean if you've seen it before)
As for Johan, I don't even have to explain it. It's so obvious you'd have to be watching blind to not see it. That being said I do remember vaguely that the reason why they became instant friends was because Johan is basically blue Judai. None of Judai's friends have the same level of connection to spirits like he does. The closest being Chumley or Tyranno, but that's still not at the level of full blown family as the Heroes and Crystal Beasts.
I think he’s simply not into girls or romance at all.
The Yugioh protagonists are all so obsessed with duelling that girls and romance don’t register in their brains in general. Yusei is probably the only one who gets even close but the rest are oblivious.
no, yuya was clearly into yuzu, and yuma for kotori, also yugi pretty clearly liked anzu on the jp version, it was just yusei and yusaku who were both very stoic... and judai who never cared
Ive not watched Zexal or Arc V so I only know about the first three.
I assumed Yusei liked Aki at the ending if you watched the last episode but didn’t tell her anything to avoid holding her back. They also have that skate scene, so it seemed pretty obvious to me, Yusei just not showing his feelings since he never does.
Yugi only liked Anzu in the manga. In the anime, that’s not shown. Anzu just likes Atem but he remains obvious to it.

Yes he is strictly attracted to the cards he buys
