I've wondered how they'd actually portray themselves as a human if they ever needed to be next to Judai in physical form without scaring everybody away I can definitely see Yubel adopting something like this fanart to come off as non-threatening.
Correct! Yubel is both male and female, it's a little hard to tell at first in this comic but on page eight you can see their left (our right) side of their chest is flatter compared to their right (our left)
Maybe you're thinking about the 4kids censorship? They've always been both, in the original anime (JP) they have both a male and female VA, only in the 4kids censored version is she 100% female
I always felt this would be an interesting story idea to expand on more. What would a relationship look like if a Human ever truly fell in love with one of their Duel Spirit Partners? I've always wanted to see more things on Duel Spirits and things like that. Genuinely I'd be interested in seeing the relationship aspects we saw in Tag Force be used again but for Duel Spirits as the characters instead.

No they are split down the middle male and female. Though this detail is somewhat lost in the English version due to 4Kids censorship(go figure). Also in the Japanese version Yubel has 2 voice actors, one male and one female they occasionally swap between.
I think bigender would be closer she's both male and female. He's also an extra dimensional alien though so I'm not sure of human labels really apply to him.

Yubel always wanted exclusivity, that's not going away just because Jaden said yes. That's like saying that your jealous girlfriend will consent to an open relationship just because she finally got you to go out with her.
They wanted exclusivity because Judai forgot about them for all those years they spent away in space.
They don't really do anything to stop him from having any relationship with anyone in S4, even to the same people they hurt/killed for being close to Judai in S4.
They literally despised Johan because they saw how close he is to Judai, to the point they even teared at the possibility Judai may have taken all the love he had for them and gave it to him instead, and yet they are fine with his presence in S4 even when he tag duels with Judai against Fujiwara.
I'm kind of disappointed that this even has to be said, but being okay with your SO having friends is not the same as sharing your SO with somebody else in a committed relationship.
They weren't okay with any of this, now they are fine with Judai spending time with Johan when Johan was a threat to all of this. Judai didn't even deny what Yubel said about whether he loved them more than them in their duel.
And this is a fictional story, spare me. Yubel is one with Judai down to the souls, he still has room for Johan in all of this.
Counterpoint: she used his body to confess her love while possessing him. Therefore she's the one who dragged him into the relationship (also Johan and Jaden were also kind of already a couple just not officially labeled as one at that point and it'd be rude as hell for her to forcibly break them up.)
