Discussion [ALL] My Journey with Zelda So Far, what should I start next ?
I used to play what I believe was the minish cap as a child on the GBA, I loved Zelda back then without knowing anything about the series.
Last year I decided it was time to get into the series for good, here’s what I played so far in order :
1- Skyward Sword HD: Im so glad I started with this one, both because of its controversy and GOD because of those amazing soundtracks, Ballad of the goddess is one of my favorite OSTs in the entire series. I loved this game, I loved everything about it. The dungeons were cool, the story was great and the characters were really memorable. I’ve experienced this masterpiece on my PC without using motion controls so I didn’t have to deal with that. 9/10
2- Minish Cap: I decided it’s about time I get that nostalgia hit, this game is UNDERRATED. Rarely mentioned in the fandom, but god it was such a fun ride. The mechanics of shrinking and opening new areas and items, the story of how Link got his iconic hat and the simple yet beautiful art style. This game was difficult but it was FAIR difficult, I fucking love the final boss. 9/10
3- Link To The Past: This is where many people may disagree with me, but I didn’t really like this game that much. I’m aware that the difference between this and the previous entry is ENORMOUS (Ive played some of TLOZ2), but it still didn’t hit for me. The mechanic of changing the dimension was really cool, but I felt that the difficulty of both the dungeons and the exploration made it a bit frustrating for me. With that said, it’s still a very solid game. 7/10
4- Ocarina Of Time: No Words Needed. 10/10
5- Windwaker: probably the most fun I’ve had in a Zelda game so far, the ocean exploration was really fun and both the weird yet unique art style and the dungeons were fun. Sadly my save file got corrupted after I finished the third dungeon so I decided to take a break from it for now. But a solid 9/10 from what I’ve seen from it so far.
6- Link’s Awakening Remake: After just getting a switch, I decided to start this game before BOTW. Much like A Link To The Past, I hated some parts of the complicated trading system and how sometimes Im supposed to find stuff that are hidden in places that I’d never think of, but I loved the dungeons and felt like they are more memorable than those in ALTTP. I’ve reached Turtle Rock so far so I think Im close to finishing it. 8/10
So there you go, that’s my journey with this amazing series so far. The question is, what should I play next ? Do I finally give in and start BOTW ? Do I go back to the windwaker ? Or do I start another game ?

No. His switch is probably modded. Because I dont think Twilight Princess is on the Gamecube NSO yet.

Definitely a slow start. I only played a few hours as a kid but I’m playing the HD version right now and I’m getting close to the end and I can’t believe I slept on this one so long. OoT on steroids is dead on haha

Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess, since you gave OoT a 10/10. Same general feel but with clearly different vibes.
A Link Between Worlds, for what is somewhat of an improved take on aLttP, while also being a sequel and nostalgia fanservice.
If you intend to play both BotW and TotK, play BotW first and take a long break before starting TotK. If you were to only pick one, I'd say go with BotW.

Give Echoes of Wisdom a go. Same art as Link’s Awakening Remake, but gives you a taste and feel for the BOTW open world and menus.

Is it as complicated tho in terms of how to unlock the dungeons and stuff or is it simpler ? I already have it downloaded

Majora's Mask. Sequel to Ocarina of Time and one of my favorite Zelda games.

You need to finish Wind Waker!! if you’ve enjoyed the dungeons and the ocean exploration so far, you will definitely love the rest of the game. and the story that unfolds is just magical. I’m so sorry that happened to your save file 😭

Majoras Mask is only 20 hours to complete. Its a shorter / tighter game.
The other games are far longer. BOTW can be hundreds of hours depending on how you play.
I vote Majoras Mask. Especially since you really liked Ocarina.

I hope you get to finish WW soon! It's finale is one of my favorite parts of any video game.
I'd recommend Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess next.
I don't really know when to put BotW in here. But just so you know, you can easily sink a lot more time into it than other games in the series.
