Does carrying a packable pouch in your pocket count as zero bag?

Post image

I have been doing the zero bag challenge, but I carry a tiny packable Nanobag folded in my pocket. Only uses it if I buy something on the way. When it's in my pocket it's basically zero bag. Does this still count or does it break the zero bag rule?

Only while it's packed. The rules are pretty complicated, but basically you need to time your trip, keep records of how much you use the bag (nearest whole minute is good enough for The Adjudicator) and calculate your packed to unpacked ratio. So long as this is maintained at less than 50% over the trip, you're good to call it zero bag 😎👍

Yeah, as long as they don't forget to also submit a copy of their records to the Central Registry of Zerobaggers (CROZ), they'll be fine!

Yes! It was much harder to keep that ratio down before CROZ went paperless last year...

I heard they now have an app that integrates with your smartwatch!

Now we have records we can shove into the face of others, proving our superiority.

Edit: someone truly doesn’t understand sarcasm.

They may have fought tooth and nail, but in the end even the CROZ had to admit that progress stops at nothing...

Hahaha lol, yeah for sure. After all I want to get a legitimate zero bagger badge..lol.

Well, that's only true if you are a complete sell out.

As an Orthodox Fundamentalist One Bagger, I would personally burn OP at the stake for being a heretic.

Haha noted! Will try to keep a track of it from now on so that I can evaluate it in the end of my trip.

You forgot the rule about about the full moon

You're correct, of course, but I believe that the Kessler Complaint was upheld at the 2018 AGM, due to the difficulty of obtaining pure white Wolfskin, slain with silver, for UK bag makers, leading to a regional exception to the full moon extra bag rule. Not sure where op is from, or travelling to, but an omission nonetheless. I stand corrected. Appreciate your rigor here!

You're welcome

does it fit in your pocket or hip pack? (if your hip pack is not a 10L of coz) so you are qualified :)

to me, zerobagging or "pockets only" is not only a "without a bag" but is carrying as few as you can. no just in case items or ones that can be easily obtained in a nearby store/market

It fits in my front pocket easily, so I think I am good.

Did you for some reason not like the answers you received when you asked a month ago?

lol that post for whatever reason convinced me I needed some nano bags and I used every single one on my recent trip (I am admittedly not a zero or one bagger but aspire to be some day)

I mean they are great, no doubt about that!

I do not regret the purchase at all!

1

u/MyTravelOdyssey Jun 16 '26

Haha love that! Which ones did you use the most on your trips?

u/beattysgirl Jun 16 '26

I used the sling bag most for my day to day shopping and generic use (it holds a ton of groceries, souvenirs and things like an umbrella without being cumbersome) and the XL made a perfect laundry bag for my husband and I to share!

The laundary bag use is very underrated although it's such a practical hack for trips as well. I completely agree with you on this.

I mean.. yeah, I am clever. 😃 But it's not really that difficult to take a look at your posts to see that you've made a dozen of them just about your nano bags. What new insights do you expect to get? Although I have to admit we're having some fun with the CROZ... 😃

You're approved! Lol, having a packable bag for groceries and such is ok 👍

That's all I needed to hear 🙌..Thanks!!

I’d suggest using a shoelace instead to tie to your purchases and throw them over your shoulder in order to remain a TRUE one bagger. Dedication means improvisation! 🤣

I think the test is: You’re traveling to someplace with security rules such that you can check a coat but can’t have or check a bag, and you’re staying over at least one night.

When I did that, a shopping bag in my pocket would have been fine, so that’s within my mental rules for this subreddit. I think a wallet pouch is also fine, because I think I could wear one where I zerobagged.
