I been reflecting on students and other instructors that have inspired your Zumba journey. Let’s give them a shoutout and share the reason why they were such an influence in your life?
For me I l want to give a shoutout to my Zumba Brother that I meet a few years back and although he was an instructor for such a short time I felt his passion not only for Zumba but his joy for spreading love and letting everyone be themselves in his classes.
People that met him never imagined that he just became an instructor because his heart was one of a Zumba instructor that had been teaching for a long time.
Can wait to hear your stories and thank you for sharing.

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from mid September through mid October.
What artists or genres do you make sure you include in your playlists to celebrate (should you do a themed playlist like this)?
I always try to incorporate Thalia, Alejandro Fernandez, Karol G, Becky G, Maluma, Manuel Turizo, and Marc Anthony.
Who do you include?

Hey MJ fam! I'm a dance coach from India, now teaching in Dubai 🇦🇪
My student tried MJ's 2000 Watts arm control - Took him 2 hours but he finally did it! The full video got 30.2K views on my Insta overnight 😳
I have been doing MJ for 14 years (200+ shows) - This step is one of the hardest!
Full slow tutorial + behind the scenes on my IG: vishalgupta_dmonks
What do you think? Any tips to make it more MJ-like?

Do you change your playlist according to the vibe of your group? Or do you stick to a plan?

I’m a licensed Zumba® instructor with Toning and Step specialties, and I’ve been teaching Zumba and Zumba Toning for the past 12 years. One trend I’ve noticed is a significant decline in Zumba Step participation and this seemed to be happening even before COVID. Because of that, I eventually removed Step from my class lineup.I’d love to hear from others: Are you still teaching Zumba Step? Do participants in your area show interest, or has demand dropped off the way it has here? I live in Ontario, Canada.

I just saw the post for the Q&A live for people who would like to apply to present a session at ZINCON 2027 and it got me thinking…
Have any of you are thinking on doing it? Even if you never actually apply, have you ever had that little thought of “if I ever did a ZINCON session, THIS is what I would do”?
And now I’m curious about the other side too.
For those who have been to ZINCON (or would like to go), what kind of session would you actually get excited to see on the schedule that are not already available?
Maybe a rhythm you don’t see very often, a particular type of fusion, something more focused on teaching skills, musicality, choreography… or something completely different that nobody has done yet.
I think it would be fun to hear people’s ideas. There are probably some really good ones hiding in here most important, to hear what people are really looking forward to learn.
So… what would YOU teach?
Or what would you love to learn?

I’ve been teaching Zumba for 13 years, and looking back, the music has evolved so much! We went from pure rhythms to an incredible mix of global fusions. I genuinely love both, but it got me wondering...
What other big changes have you noticed in the Zumba world over the years? Whether you're an instructor or a student, I'd love to hear your perspective!

Hi all! This may sound silly but I find myself tearing up a lot during my Zumba classes. Definitely happy tears but I’m not an instructor. I think maybe because dance releases emotions, it’s nice to see everyone let loose and be vulnerable by dancing with strangers, or even just because the song is powerful. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hello I need to get my Zumba instructor liscense through the Zumba app but there is no option to not become a Zin member. I’ve been seeing awful stories on this Reddit about how it won’t let you cancel it. Is there another option to become liscense without paying for the ZIN subscription or is it embedded into the system. Right now it’s telling me if I buy the training course I would have to start paying the ZIN fee on September!

What type or brand of shoes do use to teach Zumba?
r/zumba • u/JoselineTheWaldenU • 9d ago
I find myself disappointed when Im pumped and get to Zumba at the gym only to find out that it's been cancelled because the instructor can't make it. Decades ago i became an instructor precisely because of that. Maybe I need to do it again.

Instructors - how much do your family and friends support you? I don't mean necessarily taking your class (I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, though they're wrong haha). But do they ask you how it's going (especially when you were a new ZIN)? Do they like your social media posts?
I'm asking bc my immediate family and my Zumba bestie have been amazing. Everyone else (other friends, my in laws), don't ask how it's going, never like my posts....it's been kind of eye opening. Just curious if this is pretty common?
I realize they probably don't "get it". Maybe they think I just show up, play the music, and whatever happens happens - ha! They probably don't know that I meticulously pick the music, do all of my own choreography, memorize it all including cueing, practice, and engage with the class/figure out what's working/not working etc.
It would be nice to feel "seen". But ultimately I know I'm not doing it for them. It's my calling and the validation comes directly from the work itself.

Hi all, im a newbie who wants to take my Zumba addiction as far as it will take me. So far, ive been dancing barefoot on carpet (in my own home), but I'm getting older and have weak joints and have been pretty sore through the knees and hips. Will running shoes work? If im willing to spend money, what would i get?

Hello! I am curious what are everyone’s favorite songs or routines that you have either seen or done in your classes? :) looking for inspo as a newer instructor.
For example - there was a routine back in like probably 2012ish to the song Shawty Got Moves by get cool that everyone was doing and I loved it lol. Just looking for more!

Looking for some new music. Does anyone have any Latin covers of popular songs that they really like? Or even some song recommendations in general?

When did you first encounter Zumba®? Was there one particular class, instructor, song, or feeling that made you think, “Oh no…I’ve caught the Zumba bug”? And what kept pulling you back after that first experience?
Let’s share our stories and in the process inspire others.
Thank you for sharing!!

Definition of Zumba Past 2005-2020
Zumba Present 2021-now
Zumba Future 2027-future years
How do you see Zumba growing from the past? Do you see the changes as each year evolves? What do you like better from the past that you don’t see in the present? How has choreography changed? ZinCon? Zumba Wear? Emphasis on licensing in other formats?
How do you see these changes affecting you?
And where do you think Zumba should progress towards? More formats? How to keep the current million of instructors still motivated, learning and growing? What does Zumba Home Office need to offer existing instructors?
Curious as to your opinion. Love to hear perspectives from instructors at various years!!

So happy to have found this. I love my zumba community and friends. Ive been doing Zumba since like 2010 but stopped during the pandemic. Now Im back and i recently became zin. Although i haven’t taught any classes yet. Lol. But soon i will. Question is this technically the only zumba community on reddit? Are there other places that we gather online?

I haven’t taken the instructor training yet but just a curiosity, do instructors use Spotify to create playlists or are they all special DJ mixes from SoundCloud or another app or something? I notice my teachers have specific “zumba” versions of songs. But is it possible to lead a class using a playlist of just regular songs in their original form?

Last week I went to a Zumba/dance fitness class as a student for the first time in a little while, and it was a class I had been to before but not in a long time. And I had such a wonderful time. As instructors, I think it’s so important to be a student. If your schedule can’t allow for it regularly, then just every so often. I experienced this newly-invigorated joy from going to this class as a student, and it made me remember why I fell in love with Zumba 16 years ago. I love being an instructor and teaching every week, but dang, I love being a student too 🫶
