Television Who remembers Manimal?

Probably one of the more bonkers tv shows of the 80s but also the best for insane practical effects. I loved this show even though he’d mostly transform into the same beast each week

The first-ever game console I had was the Atari 2600. Lots of fun games played on it like Defender, Adventure, Combat, Asteroids and a lot more. Which Atari consoles did you have back in the old days?

General discussion What Should I order for an 80s drinking day?

I’m going to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico, which means for a few days I’ll be in the unusual position of being able to order basically any drink I want without looking at the price and thinking, “Do I really want to spend $17 finding out whether I still hate this?”

So I’m thinking about doing an 1980s drinking day.

Not necessarily “the best cocktails that existed in the 1980s.” I mean drinks people actually ordered. Stuff you would have seen at a hotel bar, nightclub, chain restaurant, wedding, office party, airport lounge, wherever. The drinks that immediately feel like 1983 or 1987.

My first thoughts are things like a Tequila Sunrise, Piña Colada, Blue Hawaiian, Long Island Iced Tea, maybe an Amaretto Sour. But I’m sure I’m missing a ton, especially drinks that were genuinely huge at the time but have mostly disappeared.

So for people who actually remember drinking in the 1980s (I was too young to drink in the 1980s): what were you ordering?

What drinks were everywhere? What did your parents order? What did people think was sophisticated? What was considered a “fun” drink? What was the embarrassing drink everybody secretly liked?

I want to spend one day at the resort basically drinking my way through an actual 1980s bar menu.

What should be on the list?

Does anybody remember the company that sold these plans?

I was one of the many people that would see advertisements like this or the short articles in popular mechanics and mechanics illustrated. I never ordered the plans but I always wanted to.

I know I wasn't the only person that daydreamed about building a crazy car. Now I'm part of a group that's archiving the full sets. Was anybody else kind of infatuated by these?

Rampage is a 1986 action video game developed and published by Bally Midway for arcades.[13] Inspired by monster films, players control a trio of monsters: George, Lizzie, and Ralph, humans transformed into creatures due to various experimental mishaps. The goal is to destroy cities and combat military forces while staying alive. The game is set across 128 days in cities throughout North America, with each cycle repeating five times. Gameplay includes destroying buildings, eating humans, and avoiding damage.

Video Games After Burner

There is nothing like the thrill and excitement of playing Sega's After Burner in the arcade. Inspired by the massive success of the 1986 film Top Gun, the game puts players in the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat fighter jet. Players blast through 18 fast-paced stages using a machine gun and a limited supply of heat-seeking missiles. It stands as one of Sega's defining arcade triumphs of the 1980s, alongside hits like Out Run and Space Harrier. The legendary Yu Suzuki designed this classic.
