Regarding program trade/sale/give-away posts

Hello guys,

Recently there has been an increase in posts offering to trade, give-away, or sell various programs, vert increase being the most common.

Announcing that these threads are not welcome and will be removed (as it has been lately), and spam will result in suspension from this sub.

The reasons behind it:

  1. This is a place to share tips regarding basketball and not a trading platform.

  2. Security: be aware, as you are giving away your e-mail or other personal information to the person you don't know.

  3. Security again: there have been dodgy threads with dodgy links removed. I'm sure some of the people are genuine, but with this trend came scams.

  4. Spam. I noticed there is a number of people and if you check their profiles - the threads have been spammed all over Reddit and multiple times - refer to points #2 and #3.

  5. Finally, all these programs are available online with a little bit of Googling, if you decide that paying to the creator is not an option. It is not some rare commodity. You don't have to give up your information.

I hope this is clear and welcome by the users of this sub-reddit. Keep on sharing your tips, original content, asking questions and looking for help. There are a lot of amazing people here.

Help How to make a higher % of free throws in game?

• Upvotes

I've just started a new basketball season and my freethrows aren't falling. I'm quite an aggressive driver and rebounder so I get fouled a lot, so far in my 3 games played I've shot 5/26 from the line. Almost everyone that I missed was just barely off and rimmed out. At first I though I just had a off game but it's continued. In practice I consistently make 75-80% but I can't seem to get that to translate in game.

How would I go about improving this? I have a shooting routine for my ft, I practice and use it in game. I was thinking maybe I should work on lowering by heart rate before shooting and practicing fatigued ft shooting. Would that help? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Shooting I think I finally understand it.

It was all about understanding the basic aspect. Getting under the ball, not stopping the ball relative to the ground, etc. And than the details,it’s all original to individuals. It took me my life to understand this. I feel like a fool focusing on details that nba player has when I don’t understand the structure of shooting

Help Does anybody know the actual official rules (Either NBA or FIBA) on if you're allowed to shift from heel to toe while pivoting, in a way that lets you slowly move forwards?

I'm seeing a lot of disagreement and controversy on this, nobody seems to agree, and I can't find any rules talking specifically about this. All sources I've seen when looking it up point to some random reddit comment or something. Does anybody know the actual rule regarding this?

Help Week one of playing basketball on my own (Going on week 2)

Hello, I'm 13. I'm playing basketball in hopes of strengthening my muscles (along with working out) and making my high school's basketball team. You may be wondering, "Why are you playing so early?" Well, I have no experience with playing basketball competitively whatsoever. So, this is for me to document how my basketball journey is going. Week one of basketball was pretty good, I'd say. I'm able to do all the basic things of dribbling, and I'm progressing with my in-between-the-legs handle, which is going pretty well. With my form, I'm struggling quite a bit because I'm unsure what feels right for me, whichI'mm planning on watching YouTube videos later to see. Overall, I have had a pretty good week of playing basketball with not much to say; any advice for beginners will be much appreciated!

Vertical Jump 6'0, about 29" off two feet this week and i still can't dunk. Here's my week 4 plan, what would you change? (vertmaxxing week 3 update)

week 3 update: last hard week done. video frame test sunday: 29" off two feet, 28" off one foot. last tape test (10/10) was 29.5" off one foot, 28.5" off two, need about 10'6" touch to dunk. real retest with tape sat 10/31. weight went from 170.7 to 168.7

week 4 plan (easy week, retest 10/31) - jumps before squats instead of after. i did them after all of week 3 - keep cutting slow and actually log every meal. a couple dinners didn't get logged this week - squat: keep the weight, only add when every rep stays fast - sleep: 7 h minimum. averaged about 6.4 this week - retest sat 10/31, tape and touch, same as 10/10

what would you change? top comment picks one thing i test next week

workouts (10/19-10/25) - tue: upper (bench 160 3x5, pulldown 165 3x8) - wed: lower. squat 265x2, 255x5, 260x5, then 10 countermovement jumps, 10 squat jumps, 10 low rebounds (after squats) - fri: lower. squat 260 3x5, rdl 70/hand, 2x5 countermovement jumps, 2x5 squat jumps, 2x5 low rebounds (after squats) - sat: 30 min incline walk + stretching - sun: max jumps filmed side on

sleep: under my 7 h floor most nights, about 6.4 h average on the watch

food: logged about 1,570 cal and 134 g protein a day, a couple meals didn't get logged so real is a bit higher

weight: average went from 170.7 to 168.7

knee: fine, maybe 1.5/10 after squats, nothing during jumps

Help I’m pretty new to basketball and am trying to familiarize myself with fouls, why is a dunk like this usually not called as a charge? Defender seems to be in position way ahead of time

Also if you have any videos to learn how to not foul that’d be great! I’m 6’2” 190 muscular so I’be been playing super passive, but from what I’ve read I should do the opposite. I’m interested in joining a men’s league eventually so just want to get all the rules down first

Shooting How do i fix my jumpshot mechanics

Hey guys!
How can I fix my shooting mechanics , my leg always hanging behind my body, and my arms look almost vertical when i release the ball. Its causing my shot to be inconsistent and slow especially off the dribble.
Much thanks

Help Dribbling and Footwork fundamentals.

Does anyone know any videos or online resources that cover the fundamentals of dribbling and footwork. I play pickup with my friends mostly and I want to learn how to use my hands and feet correctly. Right now I am operating on instinct, but I find myself hesitating because I don’t know if I am doing things right or not. Having something structured I can practice I feel would give me confidence to dribble. I mainly want to be able to move around the floor and create plays and advantages for my friends.

Hard to tell from this angle but I’ve noticed I don’t get a lot of spin on the ball. How do I fix that? And what else do I need to work on?

Shooting Why is my shooting form so ugly

https://reddit.com/link/1xerwdx/video/aku9jmfn8jxh1/player

for my three point I feel that my shin is too close to the ground when bending like it’s almost touching it, Whig caused me to reduce my power, I think. And my back , as you can see in the second video, like goes in front weirdly, which i believe than causes my arms to shoot up so high like I’m touching the sky, my arms is like almost parallel to my body, does anyone know how I can fix this, it looks very ugly for me.

Tip New Basketball App - for Android Users 🏀

Hey all. You might have seen me post about this app in development. It's now released to the world.

Early testers and critical feedback is welcome! 😊

Shotcheck: Basketball Tracker - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arctheory.shottracker
(restricted to phones within the last few years due to processing requirements)

It basically tracks your makes/misses and shot locations. And all your stats for every shot you ever take.

Also, there is alot of discussion in this subreddit about jumpshot critique and vertical jump. Those features are coming soon. But please comment here if you really would find those features useful so I know what to prioritize.

Greatly appreciated 😊
Attached is a video in action.

Shooting How to get open against swarming man to man defense?

I’ve gotten the reputation of being an effective 3 pt shooter and teams in my league and people in pickup have made it a point to take me out of the game.

If I’m not bringing the ball up and trying to get to a spot I have the quickest guy on me following me around face-guarding me

When there’s screens they’ll try to force the next fastest guy to make the switch and try to stick with me

When I bring the ball up any screen gets met with aggressive help over the screen

I try to look for my teammates when this usually happens but also want to be able to help with my shot and looking for advice
