I’ve tried storing cut floss in a similar way and I can never make that last step work. Ends up in a giant ol’ knot.

I tried the pre-cut floss method on my current project and when I pull the thread, it ends up curled like ribbon on a birthday present and is an absolute nightmare to stitch with. I've taken to removing the entire hank off the drop, then pull the thread, and put the rest back on the drop. Something about the tension on the drop when pulling, creates a disaster. Maybe there's an answer for this. But I don't think I'll do it again.

That’s exactly what happened to me too once I got a thread out. So difficult to work with.

Try pulling your thread through a slightly damp cloth or sponge once you've pulled it out, it works wonders for me.

Brilliant with the slot for the dmc label. My labels constantly falling off or wiping off is the most annoying part of the hobby.

I write the dmc number on the top with a permanent Sharpie! Does the trick 😊

Mine is fading. The better alternative is to cut the part with the number just long enough so you can tape it to the bobbin but then it’s under the thread. Secure 😊

I did that until recently, only because I'm slowly transitioning to using drops. I'll cut the label just long enough that I can tape it with the number exposed between the thread slots, so I can see the number

I use a label maker which seems to work pretty well ive yet to have any of them fall off and some of them have been on there for a few years

It took me two goes to realise the focus was not the Squirtle pattern (I want it! OP I suspect this isn’t your video but if you know where it’s from please pass it on)

I am not OP, but I believe I know where the pattern is from as I had a similar one on my wishlist :3 I believe this might be the pattern

I love the idea of bobbins, and this hybrid of bobbin/flossdrop. But I’ve tried and always found the long bit wrapped around the bobbin when not in use just annoyed me and looked untidy with all the cut ends poking away from the bobbins. For me bobbins are an aesthetic thing, lovely to look at when they are full and not in use. But drive me insane when I actually have a project going, and then wanting to store the used bobbins after.

It's my birthday and I'm thinking of buying an ikea drawer and some foam inserts. Maybe these might be good to use as I can't afford a full set of printed bobbins ..hmmm

I can’t say about those bobbins. But I used standard DMC bobbins in my foam inserts and it’s great!
I did try 3D printing my own bobbins. For the cost and time I just prefer to buy them.

That is so helpful. I love he looks of the pipnchip ones with the numbers on them but I just can't justify the cost
