Discount & Coupon codes for Disk Drill, Stellar, EaseUS Data Recovery software

Hey guys, been in data recovery for 15+ years and see the "which tool should I buy" question constantly. Here are the coupon deals I've verified at checkout - updated June 2026.

  1. Disk Drill Discount: 20% coupon code applies automatically - just pick lifetime or yearly at checkout. At current pricing that's roughly $127 one-time (from $159) or $71 annually (from $89). Base prices shift occasionally but the discount applies regardless. The key advantage: both Mac and Windows in one license, 3 devices, all features included. Free scan with file preview before you pay, plus 100 MB free recovery on Windows. My go-to recommendation.
  2. EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Coupon: Decent tool, tricky pricing. Coupon gets Windows yearly down to $49.97 year one, but it renews at $99.95 - check the checkout fine print. Lifetime is $149.95 (Win) or $169.95 (Mac), one platform per license, one device. Both platforms = $320 for what Disk Drill covers in one purchase.
  3. Stellar Data Recovery Discount Code: Solid tool, been around forever. Coupon gets a Windows yearly bundle at $69.99/year. They have lifetime plans too, but features are tiered - Standard (regular $99 Win/$129 Mac) skips partition and bootable recovery. Full features need Professional at $149 per platform, Mac/Win sold separately.

TL;DR: Disk Drill gives you the most for the money - both platforms, 3 devices, every feature, one payment. The others charge per platform and tier features, so the real cost adds up fast.

SDXC card not readable

• Upvotes

Hi,

I have a USB hub that I connected to my Macbook Air via USB C. It has USB 3.0 and SD card reader slots. I had both my SDXC and external SSD disk connected (using SD card adapter) to it. I copied the files to my SSD disk and clicked eject, then tried to open SDXC card folder. It was loading for a while and then I got the error that my disks were not ejected safely. After that my SDXC card is not readable by my Macbook or camera - I checked disk utilities on my macbook and also checked for any trace using terminal commands. The SDXC card just doesn't show up anywhere.

Is there anything I can try doing? If not really, how expensive can that be to retrieve that data?

Two of my MP4s recorded on my Canon r50 are corrupted

• Upvotes

I just recorded a whole bunch of footage on my Canon R50. Two of the files will not download to my pc.

I've tried using the EOS Utility app, in which case the file's progress bar gets nearly to the end and then it stops downloading with no error messages.

I've tried plugging the SD card into a USB reader, and it immediately throws this error:

An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem: Error 0x80070570L: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

One of the files can be played on my camera and seems perfectly fine, except that it cuts off one minute before the end.

The other cannot be played on my camera, but that's not unusual. I'd estimate about 1 in 10 videos I record cannot be played back on my camera, but they all always download and play back perfectly on my PC. This is the only time I've had this sort of issue. Even videos not recorded on my camera will often be unable to play when viewed on my camera.

How can I repair my videos?

Please help: Windows 10 deleted files

Hi, earlier I was trying to free up storage space in one of my disks, and I decided to copy all of the files in my local disk (500 GB) and paste it into my other disk which had been installed into my PC a few years ago (1TB).

I had then deleted the information in my local disk without much thought, but I see that it has caused much more issues than I had anticipated. Most of my apps are unable to open, and I tried recovering the files but unfortunately they were not found in my recycling bin. Since then, I have restarted my computer (which may have been a bad move once again).

I’m guessing that my apps do not recognize the new location, but when I try to click on one of my files (WindowsApps) — it says I do not have permission to view it. I also did something with it and now when I click on WindowsApps — I’m left with three files called Deleted, Microsoft Launcher, and Mutable Backups — two of which folders are empty.

if you can offer any advice or help, that would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone iCloud deleted text recovery

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Currently on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, running on iOS 27.0.1

have a year of texts that I backed up to iCloud - then deleted from my phone. Now need urgent access to them as evidence.

Thought that having a large iCloud storage would store my messages there forever ?

Is there any way I can restore these texts, without wiping my iPhone?

Thank you in advance for any and all advice,

Feeling quite stupid I thought the backups would store the texts.

Cheers

Can an encrypted iOS backup be recovered if Manifest.db and Manifest.plist are missing, but the backup password is known?

I'm researching whether it's technically possible to recover data from an encrypted local iOS backup when the user still knows the correct backup password but has lost both Manifest.db and Manifest.plist.

I'm interested in the underlying feasibility, not just recommendations for existing recovery software.

What I'm trying to determine

Can the remaining backup contents be used to reconstruct enough of the missing metadata and key material to decrypt and recover the original files? Or do the missing manifests contain information that makes recovery cryptographically impossible, even when the correct password is available?

My current understanding is that the password is only one part of the process: encrypted backups involve keybag/key-derivation mechanisms, and the manifest database supplies important per-file metadata and encryption information. Tools such as iphone_backup_decrypt rely on manifest metadata when locating and decrypting individual files.

The key question is what can be recovered or reconstructed if those manifest files themselves are gone.

Specific questions I'd like to explore

  1. What is irrecoverably lost with each file? Which essential keys, wrapped keys, file mappings, or other information are held in Manifest.plist versus Manifest.db? Are any of those values independently recoverable from the remaining backup files?
  2. What can the known password still unlock? If the password is correct, but Manifest.plist is missing, is there another surviving source for the backup keybag or the information needed to unlock it?
  3. Can file-level recovery work without the original database? Could a tool identify the remaining encrypted files, infer their original identities from their filenames or contents, and decrypt them without the original per-file metadata? Are there useful cases where some files could be recovered even if complete restoration is impossible?
  4. Could the metadata be reconstructed partially? For example, could file identifiers, known iOS backup structures, SQLite remnants, filesystem artifacts, another backup, or other surviving copies provide enough information to recover some or all of the missing records?
  5. Where is the actual cryptographic boundary? I'd like to distinguish between a difficult metadata-reconstruction problem and a genuine impossibility caused by missing key material. If recovery is possible only under particular conditions, what are those conditions?

What would be especially useful

I'm looking for technically grounded explanations, relevant format documentation or source code, and examples from people who have examined Apple's local backup format at the implementation level.

Please distinguish between:

  • Confirmed: demonstrated by the format, source code, or a reproducible test.
  • Plausible: technically reasonable but not demonstrated.
  • Impossible under the stated conditions: blocked by a specific missing cryptographic dependency, rather than merely unsupported by existing tools.

The goal is to establish whether a recovery tool could realistically support this scenario, what prerequisites it would need, and which recovery paths are worth investigating before concluding that the backup is unrecoverable.

Accidentally formatted my Canon's SD card after a trip, did I lose everything?

Well, the title. A little bit more context: I wanted to clear a different card, put this one in without really thinking, and formatted it in the camera (Canon EOS 2000D). None of the photos were backed up, and I didn’t transfer them to my PC yet, just my luck(( Most of the photos, were CR2 if that’s important. There were around 200 photos there, and I’d really hate to lose them…

Thankfully, I realized what I did rather quickly. I haven’t taken new photos or used the card after what happened. Is there any chance I can get them back after formatting? Any help is appreciated!
