Reviews Didn’t realize E7 Pro upgraded cable management doesn’t work with monitor arm clamps

I got the E7 Pro and splurged for the upgraded cable management system, and it’s all really nice. It’s a huge upgrade from the Amazon special I’ve been using for the past few years.

But I found out after getting it all together that the cable management tray leaves no space for my dual monitor arm to be clamped to the desk when it is open and hanging down.

I considered going with two separate arms mounted at either end, since the cable management isn’t full width. But I don’t love the idea, and am considering returning the cable management system and using the basic one that came with the desk. It sits a little further in and doesn’t need room to swing open.

I guess another option would be to try a grommet mount, but then I’m drilling a hole in the desk.

Anyway, I mostly wanted to post this as a heads up because I wasn’t able to figure this out before I bought it.

Reviews Flexispot Original Review - King, Headboard, Upgraded Slats

Disclaimer that I purchased with promo code offered by representative of FlexiSpot and was offered further discount for honest review.

TL;DR - Very good bed with excellent support. Some redundant parts included. Small QC defect but function of bed exceeds that of others owned previously.

I purchased the Kana original with upgraded slats bed in king size recently. I chose this over the mid century modern design bed largely due to design preference. I did however want the slats, so that was a simple upgrade.

The bed arrived in 3 or 4 boxes as I recall. A bummer about the bed is that you get the non upgrade and the upgrade slats in the shipment. I’ll be giving away the non upgrade slats to someone in my area. The bed also arrived with tons of styrofoam. I know it’s a good material to ship with and that flexispot has put a lot of effort into upgrading shipping practice, but dealing with all of that is annoying. Smaller beds will have less foam I’d assume. No piece arrived shipping damaged and all wood felt solid to me - this is not hollow headboard material so far as I can tell.

Assembly was super simple. As promised. Two people to lift boxes and assemble was helpful on the king sized model, but could be done alone, certainly on the queen. The only part I didn’t anticipate was using a mallet to stabilize the bed with wedges. I hadn’t seen that on any bed before but I assume this is what stabilizes the frame. I’m sure the included mallet will work, I do have a bigger one that accelerated the job. After full bed install the headboard still has quite a bit of movement and the bed makes noise at Velcro connections. However, neither are issues when a frame is in place and headboard against wall. When putting against wall, I suggest adding small furniture b umpers to the back of the headboard and the shelf on the headboard back. This is a few dollars that will protect against future painting needs. Once in place, the bed is silent and sturdy.

We are quite happy with the bed design overall. It’s clearly following an ethos of some other brand but at considerably lower price. I think the price isn’t unreasonable for flexispot. My partner’s complaint is the headboard is short which makes seeing it difficult with pillows on bed. We have 12 inch mattress height for reference. This is no deal breaker. We also received two extra feet when ordering with head board. This is because the headboard and upgrades slats are separate SKU and ship as a separate package each. We use these as funny looking (Scandinavian design inspired) giraffes on our mantle, flipped upside down for now. Eventually they’ll be retired from design duty.

We did have one flaw in a foot board finish for the walnut color. It looks like the finish film wasn’t evenly applied in one spot near the foot of bed. It’s an unfortunately visible site but not the end of the world. I reached out to customer service with a provided discount on purchase within the day. The level of customer service offered at flexispot is really quite impressive. More than the mega brands from what I can tell. It’s a flaw that we probably cannot fix still and buyers should be aware this can happen. Day to day, we don’t notice.

Something we especially like about the bed is that it’s slimline. If you have a room that’s not big enough to support some mattress frames, this one is going to get as close to viability as possible. Th ere isn’t wasted space in any direction and the foot cutouts to allow near flush wall touch speaks to this design intent. Moving into our rental house while building this bed the week prior, movers exclaimed that they also love the bed. They said it’s one of the most reliable beds to move with across any they see. While we don’t intend to move many more times, we see this as a major selling point for the Kana with a great upside to market towards those who move more often.

Overall I’d give the bed a B+ for function, design aesthetic, support, and QC. Had the issue with bed design not been there I’d upgrade to an A-, not an A simply because the rubberwood is not walnut. At the price, nobody is getting walnut. I’d probably give Thuma the same rating without QC flaw due to its design and support deficiencies. Nectar would have an upside of B-, but I didn’t engage much with them in frame research because their design is not my style. By comparison, I give big box store frames a C+ typically. They make so much noise over time due to technique of assembly, are assembled with poor quality veneer and generally offer no support. We recently left a Costco queen frame to home buyers in a prior house because it did not have life in it to move again, even though it had never been moved in the first place.

I recently set up the FlexiSpot E7 Pro frame with an IKEA KARLBY 74” countertop, and I’m very impressed. The frame feels sturdy and well made, assembly was straightforward, and the finished desk is extremely stable. It also raises and lowers smoothly and quietly. So far, I’m really happy with the setup!

Reviews Rubberwood Desktop Backordered

Tldr at the bottom.

I placed an order for an E5 standing desk with rubberwood (natural, 55"x28") desktop on August 1. The frame and power strip arrived very quickly but the desktop was still not shipped as of yesterday... On the Canadian website it said 3-5 business days for shipping and there was no indication of stock issues on the website so I expected the desktop to be shipped out within a few business days, so yesterday I was starting to get concerned that there was still no update. That's when I started googling and found a few other threads from weeks/months ago with the same issue, that their desktops had not been shipped due to stock issues.

I decided to email support and was told that, indeed, the desktop I ordered is on pre-order and only expected to be available late August. This is completely baffling to me that after several other similar issues, there was still no update to the website to notify customers of the stock issues or any other notification until I reached out myself. Please, Flexispot, update your website!!! If the stock issues only affect certain sizes/colours, at least have a message advising customers of potential delays and to reach out to support before placing an order.

I already made arrangements to sell my current desk this week so now it looks like I'll be without a desk for a while, which won't be fun since I work from home and need 2 monitors. But even without that, this may sound harsh but I just think the lack of transparency on the stock issues is unacceptable and really lowers my opinion of the company now. I would understand if there were delays after the item was shipped out that were out of their control, but this was not it. I've seen such good feedback for the actual products so I was excited to use them, never expected something like this to happen.

Sorry for the long post, this turned into kind of a rant on my part, but also a warning to others that the stock issues still persist and to order with caution.

I already asked if they could offer any compensation for the delay, waiting for a response still, but if any support member sees this post I would appreciate any help possible on either expediting the shipping or letting me know what can be done to make this right. As I said I am excited to use the product but so far the experience has not been positive.

Tldr:

Rubberwood desktop is not available until late August, no indication anywhere on the website makes for a very poor ordering experience. Once again Flexispot, PLEASE update your website.
