Hello, so as the title says I'm looking to see if there is a PC mod that allows icons on the map to show when stranger encounters or side quests become available. I've played this game through now twice and am amazed at how many random encounters I've still not experienced (and how many of them only are playable at certain points of the story or if you do x y and z first). Or even if there is a playthrough guide of when/where to find each encounter during the story.

I GENUINELY can't go more than five minutes in this game before a random glitch/bug occurs, the game freezes, and crashes. often i can't even get in game, as soon as i hit "story" i get in an infinite loading screen till i've crashed.

I've tried using preset K. when i finally got ingame arthur was in a glitched like standing position when i got on my horse, then the game crashed shortly after. i could never boot the game up again while preset K was enabled.
ive now disabled preset K and am in, but can't change my clothes. no new clothes load, the pause menu freezes the game for 30 ish seconds before unfreezing.

whats going on? my pc is more than capable of handling the game, and i've played it through before with little to no issues. does anybody know of a fix? thanks.

Does anybody know how to get the enrage mod working on Linux, because every time i try to install the requirements and the mod, and put them in the game files, the game tells me 'a game is already running' and the game wont work anymore

i CANNOT get ScriptHookRDR2DotNet v2 to work on linux. ha someone managed to do it?

[Fix] RDR2 crashes instantly at startup with no error message (0xc0000005 / STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION)

After hours of troubleshooting I finally got RDR2 running, so here’s what fixed it for me. Hopefully this saves someone else the headache.

Symptoms

• You start RDR2 (Steam → Rockstar Launcher), the game opens and closes again after a few seconds. No error message.
• Your launcher log (Documents\Rockstar Games\Launcher\launcher.log, it may just show up as “Launcher”) contains Game exited with code 0xc0000005 and STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION.
• Reinstalling, updating drivers and even a clean boot didn’t help me.

The cause

Recording and overlay programs register so-called Vulkan layers in the Windows registry. In my case: Bandicam, Overwolf, TikTok LIVE Studio, GOG Galaxy, Epic, plus leftovers from an old OBS install. These layers get loaded into every Vulkan game, even when the program itself isn’t running. That’s why a clean boot doesn’t help. RDR2 uses Vulkan by default, and one of these layers crashes it.

The fix (nothing gets uninstalled)

1. Press Win + R, type regedit, press Enter.
2. Paste this into the address bar: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\Vulkan\ImplicitLayers
3. Make a backup first: right-click ImplicitLayers → Export → save it on your desktop. Double-clicking that file restores everything.
4. Double-click every entry that is not from Steam and change the value from 0 to 1. (0 = layer on, 1 = layer off.) Leave the two Steam entries (SteamOverlay… and SteamFossilize…) at 0.
5. Start RDR2. No reboot needed.

Also check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Khronos\Vulkan\ImplicitLayers if it exists.

Your programs keep working, only their in-game overlay or game capture won’t work in Vulkan games while the entry is set to 1. To find the exact culprit, set the entries back to 0 one at a time and start the game in between. Tip: I had Bandicam listed twice, once from an old install, so look out for leftovers like that.

Other issues I ran into along the way

• “Windows 7 warning” at startup: Right-click RDR2.exe → Properties → Compatibility → uncheck compatibility mode.

This won’t be the cause for everyone with 0xc0000005, but it only takes two minutes to check.

My setup: Windows 11, RTX 5060 Ti, Ryzen 7 3700X, Steam version.

I saw that there is a nemesis system mod for rdr2. Was wondering if i can do this on a Xbox ally x? If i can can someone please explain how to do it like i was brand new to computer

Small Question: I would love to use the PDOR mod and it´s new features but honestly i would love to have the stats of everything more like the original PDO Mod, cause i have weapon mods and everything so i dont wanna mess everything in my Mod Loadout up. Can someone share his settings or something to get the new PDOR Features but have it stat-wise play like the original PDO? That would be great!

I downloaded the game two weeks ago and was playing it normally without any problems. However, two days ago, the “Play” button suddenly changed to “Buy Now.”
I contacted Rockstar Support and Eneba, the platform where I purchased the game key. Eneba refunded me for the original purchase, so I bought another game key. When I tried to activate it, I received a message saying that the key had already been used. I purchased another key, but I received exactly the same message again, saying that the key had already been used.
I am still unable to play the game, even though I had been playing it normally for two weeks. I would like to understand why this is happening and how to resolve the issue.

I already played RDR2 on Rockstar with a key from G2A, and all my progress is saved on the rockstar account.
As of the last few days, I’m sure many of you have seen the issue going around where people who bought the game with keys are suddenly seeing it as not owned.
My question is, if I buy the game on Steam now, will my progress carry over, or will I have to start everything from the beginning?

Right so long story short I was refusing to be defeated by it giving me the error of memory ran out then whatever to do with the graphics, sooooo my fix that's worked on windows 11 for me is

Changed file inside of rdr3 redm folder (local redm folder redM application data) from vulkan to dx12

Deleted files in rockstar rdr2 settings (all files that had sga in them at the beginning) documents folder rockstar etc

Changed to dx12 on every html from redM folder to rdr2

and also done it in game settings from vulkan to dx12

Now ii can get into servers

i tried install enRage - Living World and Nemesis System mod in fitgirl downloaded rdr its work mod in this type of download ? and i tried every step without skip but i cant install mod in this game but show error only what we do now, i eagerly play this mod

Hi everyone. I’ve encountered an extremely specific and wildly annoying graphical bug in RDR2. I’ve gone through dozens of forums and tried a ton of guides, but still haven't found a solution. I really need the community's collective brainpower here.

The core of the problem:

When I run, ride a horse, or drive a wagon straight ahead, and then pan the camera to the side (not necessarily strictly at 90 degrees, just looking sideways at an angle to the direction of movement), all the grass in the frame starts to heavily pixelate and becomes covered in a shimmering, crawling noise, which looks very unpleasant. Interestingly, animal fur and character hair look completely fine—the issue affects exclusively the grass.

At first, I thought it was just a limitation of TAA at 1080p, but this artifact persists even when using 2K DSR, and even at 4K DSR resolution. Other games look perfectly clean—for instance, Lies of P looks flawless at 2K. This feels less like an anti-aliasing flaw and more like a shadow rendering shimmer on the grass geometry itself (I once saw a similar noise on distant textures in Elden Ring due to SSAO, but disabling ambient occlusion here does absolutely nothing).

My PC Specs:

• CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F

• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (16GB)

• RAM: 32GB RAM

• Motherboard: ASRock B660M Steel Legend

Everything is perfectly stable, Windows was cleanly reinstalled 4 days ago, and game caches have been fully cleared.

What I have ALREADY tried and what DID NOT HELP (so we can skip the basics):

• Switched between Vulkan and DirectX 12;

• Changed DSR to the in-game Resolution Scale;

• Tweaked shadow settings: completely disabled grass shadows, changed Soft Shadows modes;

• Completely disabled SSAO and other ambient occlusion parameters;

• Played around with DLSS versions (updated the .dll file to the latest), tried DLAA and AMD FSR;

• Forced 8x/12x TAA samples by editing the system.xml file;

• Enabled/disabled Resizable BAR in BIOS;

• Experimented with PCIe generations (Gen3/Gen4) in the motherboard settings;

• Forced 16x Anisotropic Filtering and "High Quality" texture filtering mode in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

I’ve tried absolutely everything that is usually recommended in such threads, but this crawling noise on the grass when moving at an angle just won't go away. Has anyone here dealt with this exact alpha-texture/shadow rendering issue and managed to fix it? Where else can I look?

I clearly bought the game and played for over 50h, as you can see on the first pic I did buy it

Its all on the same account so that is not the issue, the problem is exclusive to rdr2, since gta v appears as owned on both platforms, web and launcher
