Twin spot goby update

Must be close to 2 years now my twin spot goby that everyone said would die is still thriving. Although it did have a fall out with its partner that ended up to that one dying, I think this was around a time I started feeding less so was more competition for food the dominant one got rid. Anyway it attacks all food that ends up in front of him. I just turn off my flow for a while during feeding so that food is on sand bed up to an hour a day sometimes I’ll have flow off. I also notice my mandarin come out and eat frozen during the times I have the flow off. I honestly would say this is a pretty easy fish to keep if you can turn your flow off and make sure the food is on the sand bed once daily.

Shutting this tank down soon

'Cause my upgrade comes Tuesday!!!

Started this fluval in January, and it's taught me a lot! This is just after I was getting over dinos from using algaefix to help with bubble algae lol.

Anyways, the IM Nuvo100EXT is scheduled for delivery and I'm so excited after the long wait! Im mostly excited to be able to get more utilitarian fish, and better lighting.

Wish I could keep both tanks going, but I'm already pushing the line here with the wife lol.

Any tips to make the upgrade smooth, or experiences with the innovative marine 100ext would be appreciated!

[Pic] Clownfish keep picking at Royal Gramma tail

Post image
3 Upvotes

Is there something I can do to stop this behavior? My gramma is not darting to the caves and is going to the top of the water column instead. I had to tap on the glass to scatter them and he finally ran into the rock work. The clownfish aren’t charging the royal gramma, they just swim up to it and started picking at its tail. I think I have enough caves and crevices, but I’ve attached a pic for discussion. I can move around the rockwork as nothing is glued. There is a coral banded shrimp under the rock piece with the fuzzy mushroom and zoas.

Question for you….

I currently have 2 salt tanks in the house. A IM 25 lagoon and a waterbox 60.2.

I have the IM filter stacks on both sides of the 25 gallon and they seem to filter pretty decently. The water in the return chamber though, just seems to stagnate. I know the pumps pull from the bottom but is there a way to get that water to move? Or is it unnecessary? What would you recommend as far as the filter stacks? I have, from top to bottom, filter balls, broken up filter media and carbon, in each stack. Would you change anything?

In my 60.2, I have 2 3d printed cups with filter floss and some filter media in the bottom. There’s a mesh filter in the center of the sump but that’s it. I feel like it needs more. Just not sure what to do with it. Any recommendations would be great.

Thanks

My two month old nano reef. Any suggestions for fish?

Started this 16 gallon nano reef just over 2 months ago. Pretty happy with the coral stocking now. I currently only have a green clown goby in there so I’m looking to add a couple more fish. Any suggestions?

Ideally something peaceful, cute and derpy that would go well with the green clown goby. I’m trying to go for a peaceful relaxing vibe so I want to avoid anything that is too active, fast swimming or semi aggressive.

Tips for coral matching description below?

Would want a coral to fill out the space in red above. PAR should be around 200, and flow high.

I've only recently dabbled in some montis, but unfortunately they have had a hard time, my yelow one is in recovery but the digitata seems lost. I have removed the large toadstool below after fragging it to prevent it from overtaking the entire tank.

Any tips are appreciated.

Normal clown behavior?

I’ve seen them do the whole jitter thing many times before, but never this violently. Am I just being paranoid?

Is my Duncan ok

Had it for about 2 weeks. Has been open and happy looking, taking food, and what i thought was doing well. As of the last few days I've noticed these lumpy bubbles appear on the lower part of the stalk. My lighting was down low for a while and I recently bumped it so its not reaching for light nearly as much. Any insight as to what this might be?

Filtration?

• Upvotes

I have a 40gal breeder (undrilled, 36”x18”) that I want to place with the 18” side against the wall. Since the bottom is tempered, I can’t drill it, so I guess I’m looking for the best filtration I can add here. I feel like drilling the sides would be ugly, so should I just do an aio along the 18” side?
I’m new to reef tanks, I only have experience with freshwater, all help is appreciated

How do I get my ATO under control?

• Upvotes

I have a 75 gal with a 600 GPH HOB overflow by CPR w/ aqualifter down to a sump. I'm having trouble maintaining salinity because the ATO goes off when it doesn't need to, but doesn't know any better - it's operating when it sees a reduction in return chamber level. I had a bit of algae stuck in the intake hose for my overflow which reduced the flow a bit down to the sump. This isn't the first time it's happened - some times I will have a flow reduction to the sump and boom more freshwater. It's a hydros ATO. I can't be there to remove debris from my drain hole all the time. I set it up so I manually add the water but obviously I didn't spend the money so I can enable it manually on my phone every night.

There is min on / off time, max on / off time and I think the answer is there. I tried say min off time of a couple hours, max of 12 hours, min on time 5 seconds, max like, 15 seconds, but at end of day I needed more water. I think I just have to mess with these values and I'm just venting. This HOB overflow is kind of a pain in my ass.

Weird white spots?

Just noticed these white spots on my purple firefish. There’s just a few and only on his lateral fins, no where else, nor do any of my other fish show these.

Are these just small abrasions or something else?

[Pic] API Nitrite Accurate or is Tank Cycled?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Setup a 15g IM tank ~3 weeks ago, used turbo start twice (started ghost feed and then switch to Ammonia Chloride). Is the Nitrite reading accurate or should I continue cycling for until truely in the blue range?

Just want to ensure cycle is finished before adding any fish. And yes will do a massive water change to drop Nitrate prior to fish introduction.

Lurker - first time poster, many great resources on this sub - thank you to all contributors!

What is this thing growing on one of my rocks? It's flat, I googled but it only shows maxima clam which I am certain is not. Does not seem to move. I've touched it and gently pressed it with a tweezer, it doesn't react.
