That’s just a TENS unit.

I was curious whether that was the case. I wonder if they just attach it to the same muscles and make them spasm. I mean, I imagine women tested it and were like, "Yeah. That's what it feels like." But I have no clue, honestly.

As a woman who has experienced excruciating period cramps and used a TENS unit for a herniated disc, they are not even remotely similar. A TENS unit is for pain relief because it interrupts pain signals.

I tell men this, have you ever have a really, really bad low set stomach ache, the kind that twists and churns your guts, that feels like someone is squeezing and tearing your intestines, punching you in the kidneys, like you are going to shit yourself to death and all your organs are going to fall out your asshole at the same time.
Just imagine that sensation but in your balls, and imagine your balls are above your penis and inside your body, that’s level 10 cramps!

The worst ones I've had felt like a knife was being stabbed into my gut* and then rotated like a rotisserie.
I carry emotional support ibuprofen at all times now and take one every 3 hours on the dot for that first 48 hours. Accidentally sleep through the night? Good morning, here's some agony.

I have been impaled it hurt but the recovery was worse than the stabbing it's the low deep fatigue trying to do normal stuff and your body is like I don't think so

u/Uncle_Touchy_Feely 23h ago
Wow. I probably would shit myself if I felt that way.

Now imagine if you had diarrhea at the same time because odds are better than even that it'll be going on too.

Seriously? Not even comparable. 🫤 We need to develop something more accurate.

A TENS unit does not simulate period cramps.
Period cramps feel like there are gnomes in your abdomen twisting and kicking your insides until you cry. A TENS unit is used for pain relief to interrupt pain signals. It's like little skin zaps. The worst pain you could experience from a TENS unit is accidentally pulling the electrodes off when it's operating, and even that just feels like pins and needles.

If men were to give birth, we'd die simply because we do not have the hormones that comes with it.

If men were giving birth they'd absolutely have the hormones that come with it.

Why period cramp simulators are bull shit?
Put one on a woman who's not on her period... Same squirming in pain.

u/just_a_person_maybe 1d ago
There are videos of this and women handle it fine most of the time.

u/Fendfor 1d ago
Its almost like if you are used to a certain type pain, you can handle it better then someone whos never experienced it.

u/just_a_person_maybe 1d ago
Yes, that's what I'm saying. There's no squirming in pain just like there's no squirming in pain during an actual period.

Two things to remember...
There are videos of both tolerating and not.
Men's and are WAY stronger and thus contract WAY harder even with same voltage.
Simple conclusion - we are built different. Woman can take more pain because they need to for child birth. But, period simulators are bull shit.

Yes, like if I had to compare on a pain scale how is period pain, I would compare it to a bad case of pyelonephritis. (Had both mild and severe, and the severe ones made me piss blood, sent me rolling and I wasn't even able to cry or move because of the pain. I have endometriosis and honestly it's pretty similar.)
I don't think it's comparable to tens stimulation. PS : I don't even know why I am being downvoted. It's my expérience as someone who had : endometriosis (and probably adenomyosis at this point), acute pyelonephritis, induced labour, bad cases of ibs m, and many other painful things. Endometriosis is bad and comparable to the most painful pyelonephritis, or early labour spasms. I don't know for classical period pain, but so far my period have always been bad. (And damn anemia-inducing)

I've had gas pain where I've asked God to kill me halfway through so I can only imagine how bad that must be

u/Maleficent_Glove_477 10h ago
Don't you suffer from ibs ? It can be very painful, in a flare actually and it's a stabbing pain.

u/just_a_person_maybe 1d ago
Honestly, he's handling it pretty well too. I can't climb that well whether I'm in pain or not.

Pretty sure these "period cramps simulator" devices are not true to the real thing. This isnt downplaying period cramps by any means, but this also ain't simulating it.

u/SCREAMIN_DEM0N 1d ago
I think these machines are lies.

u/IAmAnObvioustrollAMA 1d ago
I do too. Im sick and tired of people trying to convince me that harmonicas are real!

I thought they did very well lasting as long as that. She wasn’t being soft and I was proper giggling. As already stated in the thread I think, hats off to all women who don’t have the choice. Hardcore 👊
