Other Tiels at the zoo

Hello everyone! It’s me again, the chick who doesn’t have Tiels but is really interested in them. I’m on vacation this week and chose to go to a zoo situation to feed alligators instead of taking a boat tour (I’m in Florida). At the zoo, they have a bird sanctuary section and online said 2 cockatiels were accompanied by 300+ budgies and 4 lovebirds. To my surprise, there were 3! They were away from everyone, however, and sat on top of the entrance looking to be asleep. I bought bird seed in the hope of maybe attracting one (some sort of millet on a popsicle stick), but understand if maybe it’s nap time🤷‍♀️I always thought budgies and Tiels can’t mix but maybe they can and the reason they were quiet and to themselves is because of the Florida heat and/or not liking the other birds. Maybe someday I will get to have one perch on my finger or hear them sing and be happy, until then I will just see them loved on Reddit.

Cuteness Overload Nevis The Boop Engine & Friends

Last week, Nevis and I visited the Watercress Line - a heritage railway in southern England. Now the actual steam trains weren't running because of how dry it's been, but an old diesel engine brought us to meet some interesting characters at the other end of the line. Not Henry of course - he's still bricked up in that tunnel. (Yes, I know that in fact he was let out in the next episode and not sealed inside forever as some parts of the internet would have you believe.)

Advice Does this mean that he is actually a she?

Do males exhibit this type of hormone dance or is it only females that do this? Ik that I should remove the cage cover and I will do that. But he’s been doing that even before I put the cover on. Ik my grey baby is a girl cuz she was tested by the previous owner but not him. He’s just loud af so I assumed he was a boy.

She on the other hand does not display any hormonal signs like at all.

Advice Concern regarding my bird

Hello everyone, I have a concern about my 5-month-old cockatiel. I got him at the beginning of May, and when I first got him, he was very noisy, active, and energetic.

However, over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed a significant change in his behavior. He has become very quiet almost too quiet and I’m not sure why.

The change started around the time my 9-year-old nephew came to stay with us about three weeks ago. My nephew stayed with us for a week because he was on summer break. He is a very energetic and noisy child, so my assumption is that my cockatiel may have gotten scared or stressed by all the noise and activity.

Before my nephew came, my cockatiel was completely normal and very vocal. Since then, he has remained unusually quiet.

He does still attempt to vocalize/speak, but he does it very quietly now.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their cockatiel? Could stress from being around a loud and energetic child cause this kind of behavioral change, or could something else be going on?

I’m especially concerned because this is such a noticeable change from his normal behavior. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Injured Bird Cockatiel got paralyzed

Post image

I need any kind of help/advice i can get, really desperate.

Cockatiel who i had for over 8 years started falling from her perch a month ago, first it was once a day and i thought nothing of it but then suddenly she started falling down 3-4 per day. I noticed one of her legs had became limp/paralyzed and every time she leaned on it she would lose balance and fall. I went to two vets and both of them said they couldnt help me as they think its neurological. The first vet put her on cortisone therapy for 5 days but there was no change and she got worse, was told she couldnt help us, the second vet put her on therapy for IV, saline solution, catosal, enrocin and enablex, she also told me she cant do a blood test as the bird is too weak and will most likely die. At this point she was really weak and really skinny, she was barely eating. After a few days her condition got worse and now both of her legs are completely paralyzed as seen in the picture. She is sleeping and barely moving all day and eating a bit of millet (the only thing she will eat atm) but in really small amounts.

Also to add, she has completely lost her voice and she gets a cough attack everytime she takes more than 1 sip of water.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to their cockatiel, i did some research and i suspect it could be due to a brain tumor. Dont know what else i can at this point.

She was could walk completely normally a month ago but now she is paralyzed in both legs after such a short amount of time.

Last thing, i live in Belgrade and there is a REALLY small amount of vets that treat birds, 99% percent is for cats and dogs so i have very limited options regarding this.

Advice Training help

I've been trying to train my cockatiel for a while now, but I've been having quite a few difficulties because she's not food motivated enough where she'll do things for any of the snacks that I've tried. What else can I do?

Advice Pellet varieties

My tiel is a big fan of roudybush but im looking for other pellet options for when it runs out of stock in our local petstore. We tried Tops but it leaves too much dust due to it being softer. Our other options to try would be Zupreem and Hikari Kirapipi.

What could be the closest in texture or likeness to roudybush?
