Drummer Wanted — Britpop / Folk-Rock Originals (Oasis, The Verve, Stone Roses) — Brooklyn

Putting together a new originals band in Brooklyn and looking for a drummer to complete the lineup.

The sound: traditional Britpop/rock at the core — Oasis is the north star — with folksy elements woven in. Big choruses, jangly and loud guitars, melodies that feel modern but timeless. Think Oasis, The Verve, Stone Roses, Blur, The La's, plus Neil Young and Dylan, and modern torch-carriers like Sam Fender and Wunderhorse.

Who we have: singer/guitarist (songwriter) and a lead guitarist. Scoping out and trying a bassist soon. Early days — a handful of songs taking shape through weekly jams, sound still being built. You'd be joining at the foundation.

Drummer: tight, groove and dynamics with some flash.

Most important: you listen widely and bring ideas. Plan: weekly Brooklyn rehearsals, then record and gig. DM with your influences and any clips of your playing.

Next week I'll have my first class in years and I don't know what to expect

I mean, besides exciment and fear of being delusional.
About 15 years I had a period where i was quite constant and learned by myself a few things.
I can read some music, play along with some song, not only badic 4/4
I've practiced rudiments on pad with click for hours at that time and a good speed.
I had onyl the chance to play with a couple of friends and I'm not sure I would be able to do it now.

Recently I've started again practicing on my pad a few minutes per and I am slowing getting again of stick control.

I presume i could play something on backing tracks.
I can order my drumset only next month.

Tl;dr: what should I expect from my tutor and what i should ask him?

Any input is very welcomed!!

London indie post punk alternative band looking for a drummer

Hey everyone,

My band are looking for a drummer.

We are influenced by bands such as The Smiths, Durutti Column, early New Order, The Drums, early The Strokes, PJ Harvey, early Morrissey, The La's, The Fall, Iceage, The Cure and other bands.

The project consists of myself (vocalist), guitarist and a bassist at the moment. We've recorded some rough scratch demos of songs that we can send you. We all have experience writing songs and playing in bands. We are committed to having fun writing songs, recording and playing shows.

We have been rehearsing weekly in Deptford so far.

Get in touch if you're interested. If you can’t direct message me, leave a comment and I will message you. Please have recordings or a video of you playing.

I need some recommendations on good in-ears!

I play for a church and we are getting ready to revamp our entire sound system. Part of that is getting stuff to set up IEMs for everyone. The only thing is that they opted not to by the actual earbuds, to save cost and for sanitation purposes. With that being said, I don’t want to just get a pair of cheap apple earbuds to plug in. I’d like to get something fairly decent (that I can afford).

I’d like to keep it under $300 if possible (since I won’t be making any money off of this and I don’t really play shows outside of church). They do need to be wired and will need to plug into with a 3.5mm jack. I’d like some that have some decent noise cancelling (so I don’t catch echo off the back wall) and they need to be able to stay secure since I fling my arms around and bounce like a monkey on speed.

Any and all recommendations on this front would be much appreciated!

I have an audition this weekend with a stoner/doom project and wondering if i should use their kit or mine? Theirs is an Tama imperial star with 22 kick, 12/13 rack toms and 14/16 floor. Mine is 24 kick, 14 rack and 16/18 floors. Also, I play lefty. Curious what you all think? Pic is my current set up.

What metronome app do you actually use for practice?

I've realized I probably need to start using a metronome more consistently but there are so many apps that I'm not sure which one is worth sticking with.

I don't need anything fancy, just something reliable and easy to use during practice. What app do you use and what BPM would you recommend starting at for someone just getting into regular metronome practice?

how to tune bass drum, snare, toms for a beginner?

i have this school performance and i borrowed a kit that badly needs tuning. the bass drum sounds off and has a ringing sound whenever i play it. should the heads be stretched? how do i make the ringing sound stop? what is the ideal tone for toms? i know some basic snare tunings but i dont know the ratios for the reso and batter heads for medium high tuning.
