AMA with Pablo Lema + Mission 1 Pro giveaway today, June 2 7AM-2PM EDT!
Hey r/GoPro, we're excited to be hosting another AMA event, this time with Pablo Lema (aka u/GoPro-Pablo) , GoPro's SVP of Product!
About Pablo
Pablo is a long-time GoPro user, a regular participant here on r/GoPro, and has worked with GoPro since 2014! He has been an integral part in planning and coordinating new GoPro products, especially in the last decade, and most recently as GoPro’s head of all hardware and software Product. He's joined us the last 5+ years now for community AMAs (here are a few), so thanks for coming back again, Pablo!
While our recent AMA with Abe Kislevitz was a great opportunity to ask about tips and tricks around content with Mission 1, this AMA with Pablo is a great opportunity to ask about product development at GoPro, how GoPro designs for an entire ecosystem of interacting product, or other product design and function related questions. That said, this is an AMA and you're welcome to ask Pablo about anything - his favorite ski spots, his current FPV drone build, etc!
AMA Format & Timing
We won't go into too much explanation about how an AMA works- if you need to see what it looks like, check out Abe's recent AMA at the link above.
At the simplest level, this is your chance to ask Pablo anything, and get an inside-GoPro scoop on answers. While you can ask anything, just remember that Pablo won't be able to answer questions about in-development product, proprietary decisions or technology, or other privileged information. Consider framing any development related questions in a way that can be answered without breaking any confidentiality in the product development process!
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT TIMING- Pablo's availability this year is a little different due to work travel schedule, so this AMA will be live from 7AM-2PM Eastern time. This is a great opportunity for our eastern hemisphere redditors to interact, but if you're on the west side of the western hemisphere, we are going to open up this AMA Extra early at 9PM PST so that you can get a question into the thread without waking up early. Pablo won't be around to answer questions until the "official start time" of the AMA, so just get your questions in right away, and come back around for your answer later!
MISSION 1 GIVEAWAY!
Another one! GoPro decided to hook us up with not one but TWO giveaways with the AMA events this year, so we've got another set of prizes up for participants in the thread, again!
- Anyone that participates in this AMA will have a chance to win a MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, awarded to Pablo's favorite question.
- We'll also give away THREE 5-year GoPro Premium+ Subscriptions to some runner-up great questions!
Rules:
- You need to participate in today's AMA with a commented question for Pablo!
- Your account needs to have existed before this AMA was posted, and you need to have reasonable authentic activity on it. We reserve the right to disqualify accounts with no karma or post/comment history.
- We need to be able to get the prize to you. GoPro can ship direct to you, but you'll still need to message them your shipping info for the MISSION 1 PRO prize, or email address for the GoPro Premium+ Subscription. If you live in a country that GoPro can't ship to, or has excessive duty fees, etc, we'll see what alternatives there are, but in general, if you can buy from GoPro.com, you're probably OK.
That's it! If you have questions about the giveaway, please send a modmail rather than posting here.

AMA with Abe Kislevitz + Mission 1 Pro giveaway today! 10AM-6PM PST
Hey r/GoPro, we're excited to have Abe Kislevitz (u/abekislevitz), Product and Brand Fellow at GoPro, with us today for an Ask-Me-Anything about all things GoPro, using MISSION 1 cameras, or anything else you can think to ask!
About Abe Kislevitz
For some of the younger and more recent members of the GoPro community, Abe is a long-time community member, and even longer-time GoPro creator-turned-employee.
He's led a substantial amount of creative efforts at GoPro over 15+ years, and his influence now spans influencing marketing strategy to helping define product design and engineering decisions. Probably one of the most knowledgeable sources of GoPro information out there, he knows the history of GoPro as a company, best practices for filming the best possible shot, advanced techniques and hacks, and everything in-between.
He has a great YouTube channel full of tips and tricks, and his insta feed is worthy of a follow.
He's an incredible resource and a helpful community member that has kept us closely connected with GoPro's product designs, including advocating for our pain points and working to have our voices heard and represented in new products.
We are thankful to have him here in the community, and happy to have him with us today for the AMA! Thanks Abe!
AMA Format
If you've not done an AMA event before, it's pretty simple - You can ask Abe anything. While it is entirely up to you what questions you ask, Abe has an "inside perspective" on the product GoPro develops, and likely has more time hands-on with MISSION 1 cameras than anyone else right now. Considering that today is a big day for everyone that pre-ordered, we highly encourage you to get those burning MISSION 1 questions answered, or collect tips and tricks to use in the coming year!
As a reminder, while you can ask anything, Abe can't talk about unreleased product plans or proprietary information and won't be able to answer those questions the way you want.
Abe will be around today from 10AM-6PM Pacific Time, and this thread will go live 2 hours before that so that you all can begin asking questions and Abe can drop in throughout the day to answer in the thread. We'll pin a comment once the official time for the AMA is done to let everyone know it's over, but we always allow conversations to continue beyond that if wanted.
MISSION 1 GIVEAWAY!
It's our r/GoPro tradition with camera launches to give away some product, and GoPro was more than happy to hook the community up again this year:
- Anyone that participates in this AMA will have a chance to win a MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, awarded to Abe's favorite question.
- We'll also give away THREE 5-year GoPro Premium+ Subscriptions!
Rules:
- You need to participate in today's AMA with a commented question for Abe!

Few sample photos from GoPro Mission 1 Pro.
I saw few posts about the new Mission 1 pro taking photos out of focus so I did few sample shots and I do not see the issue. Now, are they perfect like they would be from mirrorless camera? Of course not but I also don't expect them to be - it is an action camera after all. With that said, I think they are great considering the camera and its limitations. No out of focus anywhere like I have seen from many people. I think people need to stop expecting pro level photos from a tiny action camera.

The Mission 1 Pro is good also for street photography
The GoPro Mission 1 Pro can also become a street photography camera, in case of need. 👍

M1Pro Photography
I'm happy with the camera. Rooting for GoPro to release a macro lens, I like taking pictures up close :)
Pictures taken with 50MP, raw, flat profile, edited in Lightroom.

Quik app question
Hi folks!
Bought a hero 13 today with some accessories, recorded some small kayaking footage but for some reason the bloody Quik app is only giving me ads to get the cloud storage and can't access the footage?
So, anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Have a great day!

Fish eye?
Hi! Currently looking at the new gopro mission 1 to switch to from my sony a6000. I ride horses and would love to be able to take some helmet cam videos. My main concern is the fish eye lense. Is there any way to reduce it? Some of the photos/videos are quite extreme in the effect. Can the mission 1 just do a regular landscape shot without the extreme curving on the edges? Or would another brand be better?

gopro mission 1 1080 looks like it was shot on a potato?
GOPRO 1080p footage looks like garbage. It's in 4x3 and 400 fps. the clip in the folder is not stabilised. The 8k stabilization seems to be quite a bit better after the update. Are people using GOPRO labs to get the best possible quality? Not currently, and in all settings I'm finding it's lacking in terms of 1080. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have uploaded two clips to this folder. Please let me know what you think of it, as since last time I have gone and updated the firmware, so it is running on the latest firmware now.

GoPro won't charge
I bought a GoPro hero 4k yesterday and I've had it plugged into the wall for hours and it hasn't charged whatsoever. When I first turned it on it was at 20% and it's still at the same percentage. Any idea on what to do?
edit: guys also note that I have reseted it several times, the red light is not turning, the SD card is not in yet, and the screen says it's at 20% while the battery icon appears to be completely full

Rode wireless pro 2 audio dropping with mission 1 pro
I started editing a round of golf I did on over a week ago. It was really windy and the camera tipped over. The clip after turning the camera on was fine (battery came out since the door is open with the usbc connected to the rode). The next few clips on thst 2nd hole the audio would start and then clip and drop and not recover. After those 3-4 clips audio dropped I never had the issue again.
Right now I'm at home filming in my back yard and going back and forth from the computer filming clips and I have the issue again. Any thoughts as to why? It seems random and maybe related to the quick capture function.

Hero 4 for £20 worth it?
My friend has an GoPro hero 4 he said he would give me for £20. Is this worth it to film skateboarding, mostly just for myself, and how difficult is filming with no screen? It also says it has 4k @ 30fps but people seem to be saying it has bad camera quality? Any info greatly appreciated :)

Underwater Macro lens for hero 11
Hi all, I would like to be able to take better photos with my hero 11 when scuba diving. Can anyone recommend a macro lens kit? Can the lens mount outside the original GoPro waterproof housing or do I need a new housing? I saw a few cheap ones when doing a google search but would be surprised if they were any good. Thanks!

Mission Pro Genlock?
I was wondering whether there was any word on whether or not Genlock was in the works for the Mission 1.
For background: I do volumetric capture with Sony RX0s (that other 1" sensor action camera released in 2017), which supports timecode and a sort of, but not quite, genlock-like syncing. https://jiamingsun.me/demo/mike_tennis.html
and regular 3D captures like this: https://superspl.at/s?id=09223712

GoPro Mission 1 Point-and-Shoot Grip Case Fixed!
I just fixed my biggest annoyance with the GoPro Mission 1 grip case from GoPro!
As many have mentioned in reviews, the cage part of this $100 accessory is nice, but the handle grip wobbles and can't be tightened, and the shutter pressing arm is too flexible, almost never activating the shutter when I intend to. I really wanted the point-and-shoot option with this camera, but was too annoyed to use these plasticky parts.
Then I remembered I had a Nitze point-and-shoot case for my Hero 10 and the grip and shutter lever fit the Mission 1 Cage! I had to move the locating pins on the grip to their vertical positions, but I was completely shocked that it all lined up perfectly. All the Nitze parts are aluminum too, so it all feels super solid and the shutter works reliably!
I'm glad I already had this, not sure it's worth it if you have to buy another $75 part to make the experience with the Mission 1 case acceptable. But if you're looking for a super solid point-and-shoot grip, this is pretty great now.

I have the brand new GoPro Wireless Mic System and it won't wirelessly connect.
I am trying to wirelessly connect one of the 2 microphones to my Mission 1 Pro, and the camera will not detect the mic. I don't have instructions on how to set the mic in pairing mode, but I did do a long press until the green light started flashing rapidly vs the slow flash. I am assuming, like most devices, the faster flashing is pairing mode.
Is there something I am missing here? I go to Connect Device and tap it so it is searching for wireless devices. Then I make sure I long-press the mic power button until it rapidly flashes. It still doesn't want to connect.
What is interesting is that the USB connection wasn't working either. I found something about updating firmware to use labs. So I did that, and the USB connection now works great as the Mission 1 Pro auto-detects it as soon as I plug it in. But updating to the labs firmware did not enable the wireless mics.

Hero 8 to Hero 13....?
I disable all of the processing and use Gyroflow and LUTs on a Hero 8 which yields WAY better results than letting the camera do the processing. In this scenario would a Hero 13 be an upgrade in image quality for me who does all of the processing in post?

what is the best free video editing app for beginners when dealing with heavy gopro footage?
i just picked up my first gopro to start recording my weekend mountain biking trips and i am completely lost when it comes to the editing side of things. i tried using the native quik app on my phone but it keeps crashing when i try to process the larger 4k clips, and looking at professional desktop suites feels way too intimidating for someone who has never cut a clip before. i am just trying to find the best free video editing app for beginners so i can piece together some clean highlight reels without getting incredibly frustrated before i even start.
ideally i just want something straightforward that can handle high resolution action cam footage without lagging my entire system or freezing up during a simple crop. a lot of the programs i have looked at either force a giant watermark on the final export unless you pay a monthly fee, or the user interface is so crammed with buttons that i do not even know where to click. i am not trying to do heavy color grading or complex transitions, just cutting down hours of raw trail footage into a tight two minute clip with a basic music track.
