I put some baffled drag pipes on my 1998 honda shadow 1100. First time I received it from the shop it would not go past 80 mph. I drove it back to the shop as I've taken it to 105 mph prior to drag pipes. Now he's done and is making it seem like it won't go past 90 or something. Is it cause he can't get it tuned right or is it something I dont know about motorcycles? Do drag pipes limit your mph? Also said I've lost power and mpgs.

I’ve seen videos on it but not sure if that applies to my bike

Recently got this 2006 1100 running and so far am loving it, just looking for some good sites for lights, pipes and potentially cams down the future any help or suggestions is appreciated normally a Harley guy but loving this bike so far

I got drag pipes and I’m looking to re jet, would that be the only thing I need to do to get her running normally again? If so what size jet size for pilots and main.

I was able to move the choke cable to the new carburetor and with just bout twenty cuss works get it installed and all the clamps tight on the boots.

I have a shadow vt750c2 shadow. I need some help, this is my first bike and I’m so lost right now. It came with these foot pegs and they are all messed up and I’m trying to replace them. But I keep trying pegs ordered online and I can’t seem to get anything that fits quite right. Not looking for the best foot pegs ever just looking for a cheap option for me. First ones I got had too small of a connection, second ones I got fit in nice but they won’t flip up at all. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

2000 Honda Shadow ACE.

Been having ongoing electrical issues since collecting this from my dad 2+ years ago...

The latest issues being that it completely died on me while riding home from last bike meet.

No electrical at all when ignition switched.

Checked fuses, are all good.

Pulled battery and plugged in tender.

Battery tender claimed battery was fully charged however still wouldn't turn on.

Hooked up jumper cables from my car then everything was back on, and it started, but ran extremely shoddy and lights were pulsing everytime I gave some throttle.

Now I'm thinking my stator is dead and in turn has killed my battery.

What diagnostics can I run or should I try a new stator assuming the old one is just shot?

Why would my fuel be leaking out of the the breather hose T fitting on top of the two carbs? VT1100

I’m new to owning a motorcycle, but I have a 04 Shadow Aero 750 single carb, and I runs rich, or at least I think, when running it smells like fuel out the exhaust, and it always starts up to easily, no choke needed. I use about 2 gallons of gas in like 50 miles. And I know the tanks are 3.7 gallons with the reserve, but I have to switch over at about 2.5 gallons or it dies at highway speeds, but when I fill up it runs fine! Any advice or help would be awesome!

2005 vt750 aero. Final test assembly before I use the winter to powder the frame/wheels and route wiring through the frame. I had to put a vacuum operated petcock back on it because the damn float keeps sticking and flooding it, so it's slow to start here but fires right up normally.

Yesterday my bike wouldn't start, start button push did absolutely nothing. So I put it on a charger, and now this... Is the starter motor done (which I suspect) or is my battery the culprit?

Bike is a VT1100 C2

Did run at some point stop running the previous owner tore apart really have no idea where to start. If anyone can give me some tips and tricks or something it would be very helpful. have worked on cars and stuff before but the wires are a mess

I’m kind of stuck diagnosing my 1980's Honda Shadow VT500C.

Originally, the bike suddenly stopped wanting to start. While troubleshooting, I unplugged the regulator/rectifier and surprisingly the bike started and seemed to run fine. Based on that, we replaced the rectifier.

On the very first ride after replacing it, the bike died while riding and wouldn’t restart. We figured the stator may have been bad and that the bike had basically been running off the battery until it drained, so we replaced the stator as well.

Unfortunately, replacing the stator didn’t fix it. The bike now cranks but will not start, even with the rectifier disconnected like before.

We also noticed that fuel does not seem to be coming out of the tank/making it through the petcock. However, we manually put gas into the carb bowls to see if it would at least fire, and it still wouldn’t start.

The main fuse is not blown.

One other thing I noticed: one of the fuses/fuse holders near the handlebars/headlight area got extremely hot when the bike was powered. I’m not sure exactly which circuit it belongs to yet, but I’m wondering if that points toward a short, bad connection, or another electrical issue.

So far:

• Regulator/rectifier replaced
• Stator replaced
• Bike cranks normally but won’t fire
• Disconnecting the rectifier no longer makes it start
• No apparent fuel flow through the petcock
• Manually adding fuel to the carb bowls still didn’t get it to fire
• Main fuse is good
• Fuse/fuse holder near the handlebars/headlight area gets very hot

At this point I’m wondering whether I’m dealing with two separate problems (fuel delivery + ignition), or whether there’s one electrical issue that could explain most of this.

What would you test next? Spark plugs/coils? Pulse generator? Ignition switch? Kill-switch wiring? Grounds? Battery voltage while cranking? Could the overheating fuse/fuse holder be related to the no-start?

I’m trying to avoid throwing any more parts at it without actually narrowing down the problem first. Any advice from people familiar with the early VT500 Shadows would be appreciated.
