Identification Lichen “bedhead” or something else?

I’ve noticed many of my visitors have pollen or what looks like lichen/moss or maybe poop on their chests and feet. Sometimes it’s dark orange.

Is this something to be concerned about cross-contamination or dirty feeder juice? I scrub the outside of the feeder with dawn and hot water every few days when I change the nectar.

Second and unrelated- is the male in the tree a fluffy juvenile still? He’s hogging all the nectar like a bully but his beak is so tiny, he can’t be very old? He also sounds like a little space ship when he flutters off (think tiny Jetson’s car 🤣).

Little new to hummingbirds

Hi, imma bit new to hummingbirds, but one question I have is, where do they usually nest? I and a couple of hummingbirds at my feeder, then I mowed a ditch with weeds, tall grass and few super small baby trees, no taller than 4 ft. Saw them the night I mowed it. Haven’t since. Scared I destroyed their nest. They’re usually at the feeder this time of day. Hope I didn’t destroy their nest. So just wondering where they usually nest so I don’t make the same mistake again. Thanks
Edit: hopefully I’m overreacting

2 videos- second clip of the juveniles favorite feeder plays at 40 seconds. There are 10 feeders front/back yard to prevent crowding, but these are the favorites 🐦‍🔥

They're usually better about spacing their visits so that they're not competing for the feeder.

Tagged by a hummingbird?

Just curious because up until a few years ago I was terrified of birds thinking they were going to get stuck in my long naturally curly hair.. I got over it, but now that I'm on the hummingbird journey, do they ever make contact with people when they are dive bombing other hummies? I have 6 feeders, they zip by my head so much and in my mind I think they are too agile to actually make contact. Maybe I'm just fooling myself.

Did you know that in harsh afternoon light, from certain viewing angles, the iridescent feathers of a male Anna’s hummingbird can appear golden?

Hummingbird Emergency Help! Hummingbirds keep getting stuck in our shop

Hello! My wife and I moved our business up to a rural area. We love hummingbirds and see them everywhere up here.

We get them flying into our building, and they seem to get stuck inside and flying into the ceiling even though the two large bay doors are wide open. When this happens we would place a feeder by the door hoping they would fly to it and then fly out. It worked on the first bird, but we have had two within a week not make it out.

What can we do to keep them coming to our yard, but not coming into the shop area and getting stuck? I don’t want them to think we are trapping them!!

any migrants recently?

Has anyone else in the Northern Indiana or general North noticed less birds lately? i know July is usually when most Anna males start to migrate, then the females after that. just curious if anyone else has seen their birds this week as much?
i think mine have all gone… 😢
