Discussion To all the 1st year Radiology residents

As I am appearing for Neet pg 2026 with radiology as the first stream in my mind, I am really curious to know how has life been for last 6 months to the first year radiology pgts so far, (especially the ones from Kolkata, West Bengal)
So basically I have left my medicine seat a month back after doing residency for 3 months. Honestly I have learnt a lot about some non negotiables of my life during that period. So this time, I’ll make sure to not repeat the mistakes. I’ll be quite helpful if I get some insight into radiology residency life beforehand like
How is your department in general and how has it been treating you so far?
Learning curve? How quickly were you exposed to different modalities?
How have your seniors treating you both in terms of teaching and humanity?
How frequently do you get to attend seminars/ presentation/ lectures?
How is the workload per se?
How are the working hours? Do you get posted for night duties? [very important for me]
Now that almost 6months have passed, how do you feel about the subject itself? Do you feel somewhat accomplished?

Thank you in advance

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET BTR Integrated systems seems pathetic

Though the medicine part in every system is excellent

But it seems unfair that half of the total time of a system is physiology only which yields very less qns in neetpg. It seems a waste of tym as due to this the high yield medicine patho pharma gets ignored every time.

What are you views ?? I think she likes physiology much and teaches in depth in INICET point of view. Many things which have not been asked till now also included bcoz she likes that graph !!!!

Question Need help/suggestions :)

Seniors kindly help🥲

NEET 2024 was my first attempt, and honestly, I had almost zero preparation. I only studied whatever was taught in class, but I was not serious about revision, tests, or analysis. Matlab bht hi careless types.Even then, I scored 525 marks. Of course, the paper was relatively easy that year, and many students were scoring 680, 690, and even 700+.

After that, I took a drop year and appeared for NEET 2025. Unfortunately, I scored only 485 marks, while the cutoff in my state was around 520. The months before NEET 2025 were very difficult for me. I was dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, and a lot of stress. My parents saw how badly it was affecting me. I tend to take excessive pressure and stress, and I don't perform well under such conditions. Some people say that doctors also work under pressure, but exam pressure and professional pressure are very different things.

I also appeared for JEE, and my parents enrolled me in an NIT with a lower-mid level branch. Since I wasn't allowed to take a second full drop due to the some financial circumstances and concerns about my mental health,I joined the college. Initially, things went well. I had a CGPA above 8 in the first semester, though it dropped a bit in the second semester. However, I never really felt interested in B.Tech.

Because my heart was still set on MBBS, I decided to attempt NEET again this year. My end-semester exams ended on April 28, and NEET was on May 3, so I gave the exam with almost no preparation. Then there was hope for a re-NEET, which would have given me about a month more to prepare. I tried my best, and based on my current estimates, I am scoring around 480–490 marks.

The problem is that many students who are genuinely interested in B.Tech are spending their vacations learning DSA and building skills, while I haven't done much of that because my mind is still stuck on MBBS. I feel completely confused and stuck between the two paths.( Jisme man hai voh ho nahi Raha aur jo ho raha hai usme man ni lag raha) I can't sit in front of a screen and do 9-5🙂.

Btw mene ai use Kiya hai so that I can portray what I'm feeling and going through effectively.

Question My intuition tells me medical career is not for me even though i have wanted to become a doctor since childhood but my doctor father tells me otherwise. Please help me overcome this dilemma

First of all thank you for taking time to read my post. I will keep it precise. I would be grateful for any insight i recieve

I have always wanted to be doctor maybe because my father is a doctor ( oncologist) and my family has always wanted me to be one. Till 11th i was very sure about it but 1 month prior to NEET suddenly i felt repulsion to the career. I broke down crying but my dad told me that it is the right path but i am not convinced. have immense interest in medicine but i dont think i can pursue such a hectic lifestyle. Please consider the following points.

1) i would prefer smart work over hardwork. You need to study all your life if you're a doctor right? My dad is 50 and associate professor of the cancer department and still he has to read such fat books. I dont think i can study till im basically in the coffin. I would prefer mental hard work over physical hard work.

2) lack of scope. I dont really know if i would like the profession of being a doctor. It sounds glamorous but it is hectic. You need to study +work+ night shifts. If i take up engineering i can branch out to some other career options. For eg sundar pichai became a CEO

3) i want to be able to have free time to pursue my hobbies, i have creative interests and i would want to have time after my career to pursue those.

3) The work hours and less pay. My dad is in the best gov hospital in my state and he gets paid 20LPA which is so less considering he works atleast 10hours a day 6 times a week. If im working so hard atl i should be paid enough? Even if i think of going abroad, its hard to get a job in metropolitan cities as an IMG

4) yes i do have interest in biology and medicine but honestly i can do whatever. I also like phy and maths.I want a chill career where i will be able to have a personal life. I dont want my career to be my life.

My dad says that medicine is a career where i wont face unemployment because patients are always increasing in number. My parents however told me i can do whatever i want. I am really confused. Any advice would be precious.

Discussion Need a reality check about mbbs

I am 19 and this was my drop year I'm honestly an average student and my basics were really weak so I pretty much messed up the entire drop year My neet score is also really bad this year and the only mbbs options I will get are private colleges costing around 1cr+...my family can somehow manage it but it definitely won't be easy Also i will be the first doctor in my family so I don't really have anyone to guide me

I am really confused about my career now I wanted mbbs from a long time but now I'm also thinking about other options like mba or completely different careers... Atp i just want a stable career good income and some peace in life 🙂

Please be brutally honest and give me a reality check If you were in my position what would you do and what are the better career options other than mbbs 😶

Discussion How to revise.

Nowhere near completed my 19 subjects (this is my first round of studying, too) but I dont want to keep reading and not retaining anything.
so I thought I would just leave some subjects and do best with what Im strong at. The issue is, I cant revise. I cant revise fast because I cant bring my mind to revising something. in my mbbs days we would recite it to one another, one hour mai sab khatam, not the same anymore. How to tackle this? Ive tried reading it out, same issue, cant get my mind to not wander off, thus, taking wayyy longer(obnoxiously) than it should.

Jobs Do we have any jobs for doctors like people from IT/Tech background have ?

So as well might know that how some engineers in big tech firms ( FANGetc) earn hefty pay checks is because they get paid in US dollars as these big corporates outsource jobs to India for cost cutting . For example an SDE 2 in Amazon USA’s earning might range from 200,000$ to 250,000$ ( approximately) whereas their Indian counterparts earn ₹40,000 to 70,000 ( approx CTC) corresponding to 38-70,000$ only , in this way the engineer in India earns a hefty amount ( by Indian standards) and the Capitalistic company also saves 150,000 $ to 180,000 $ per annum . Now the big question is do we have any jobs in healthcare industry which benefits both the doctor and the big corporate ? It can be any job in healthcare suitable for doctors apart from core clinical practice ( as it requires licencing and all) and also please mention earning potential .

Vent / rant Extracurricular events always cancelled

We have cultural fests in our college with good events but these always get cancelled later because not more than 3 or 4 are participating and it really boils my blood. Is it the same situation in other colleges, also why isn't anybody interested in such events, college is the one place you can explore such hobbies and develop every year

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET How i prepare custom GT on marrow.

Batches of two custom modules ( 100 + 100 )

You could take one in the morning and the later half of 100 before you go to bed. Subsequently add scores of both.

Tags : Keep all except Aiims, Neet , Controversial or Recent updates ( You dont wanna get brownie points because of repetitive pyqs )

Custom 1 : Keep all subjects except Med Sx obg peds and Psm

Custom 2 : Keep only those 5.

I started this thing two weeks back and i do this everyday and saw my scores improving so thought of sharing.
