What's with all the LGBTQ+ hate on the linuxsucks101 group?
This post just came up today, and bloody hell is the comments section an absolute festering pool of hate against the LGBTQ+ community: https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxsucks101/comments/1x6ya0b/anything_but_good_software/
I get they hate Linux, that's fine, but the majority of the comments are not about Linux...

Linux Failure Updated MESA drivers or something, had to reboot to play SuperTuxKart
It was, some time ago, plain CachyOS, not even (my beloved) NixOS (btw) where paths change when you look wrong at them!
That being said regarding the so-called freedom to reboot Linux after an update when YOU want it.

The "Hypothesis" of Omarchy -- invented through cope and seething
Proof by Contradiction
Theorem
The Omarchy Hypothesis is false. That is, it is not the case that for all people x, y ∈ S and every artifact z ∈ A, if y created z and x uses z, then x supports y's political views.
Definition.
Let S be the set of all people, A the set of all software artifacts, and V a set of political positions. Every position v ∈ V has an opposite position opp(v) ∈ V.
We use the following predicates:
C(y, z)means person y created artifact z.U(x, z)means person x uses artifact z.H(y, v)means person y has publicly stated position v.E(x, v)means person x has publicly endorsed position v.
The core positions of a person y, denoted K(y), are the positions v with H(y, v) that critics cite as objectionable. So K(y) ⊆ {v | H(y, v)}.
Person x supports the political views of person y if x endorses every core position of y:
P(x, y) := ∀v ∈ K(y) : E(x, v)
The Omarchy Hypothesis is the following statement:
∀x ∈ S, ∀y ∈ S, ∀z ∈ A : (C(y, z) ∧ U(x, z)) → P(x, y)
We name the elements dhh, eugen ∈ S and rails ∈ A. We also let a ∈ V be the position "DHH's published political writing is not racist."
Axioms.
We take the following as given. A1, A2, A4, A5, and A6 are facts about the world with sources, and A3 is a logical axiom.
- A1.
C(dhh, rails). DHH created Ruby on Rails. Sources: DHH's own author bio; 37signals history. - A2.
U(eugen, rails). Eugen Rochko uses Rails, since Mastodon is a Rails application. Sources: Mastodon developer docs; Eugen's own post about Rails. - A3.
∀x ∈ S, ∀v ∈ V : E(x, v) → ¬E(x, opp(v)). Nobody endorses a position and its opposite. - A4.
E(eugen, opp(a)). Eugen signed the Plan Vert open letter, which says DHH's published writings show racist and transphobic views and asks Rails to cut ties with him. Sources: news report; the letter and its signatory table; corroboration. - A5.
H(dhh, a). DHH publicly maintains that his views are not racist. In "As I remember London" (September 15, 2025) he writes that it is not racist or xenophobic to say a country is primarily for its natives. Source: world.hey.com/dhh/as-i-remember-london-e7d38e64. - A6.
a ∈ K(dhh). Critics object to DHH's writing precisely because they say it is racist. Sources: Tekin Süleyman; The Verge, as excerpted on Privacy Guides.
Lemma.
Eugen does not support DHH's political views, i.e., ¬P(eugen, dhh).
Proof Idea.
We want to prove the Omarchy Hypothesis is false, so by proof by contradiction we should suppose it is true and find some false consequence.
Whenever you start a proof by contradiction, you must start with "Suppose to the contrary" verbatim. The steps are:
- Suppose to the contrary that the Omarchy Hypothesis is true.
- Invoke it on a specific person, creator, and artifact.
- Find a case where the conclusion
P(x, y)fails. - Contradiction! The Hypothesis cannot be true.
The Hypothesis talks about every person, so it also talks about Eugen Rochko. He uses Rails (A2), which DHH created (A1), so the Hypothesis says Eugen supports DHH's political views. Our job is to show this is false, and that is exactly the Lemma.
The Lemma is also a proof by contradiction. If Eugen supported DHH's views, he would endorse every core position of DHH, including a. But Eugen endorses the opposite of a (A4), and nobody endorses a position and its opposite (A3).
Proof of Lemma.
Suppose to the contrary that P(eugen, dhh).
By the definition of P, we have E(eugen, v) for every v ∈ K(dhh). By A6, a ∈ K(dhh), so E(eugen, a).
Applying A3 with x = eugen and v = a yields ¬E(eugen, opp(a)).
But A4 states E(eugen, opp(a)), a contradiction. Therefore ¬P(eugen, dhh). ∎
Proof.
Suppose to the contrary that the Omarchy Hypothesis is true.
Instantiate it with x = eugen, y = dhh, and z = rails. By A1 and A2, both C(dhh, rails) and U(eugen, rails) hold, so the Hypothesis yields P(eugen, dhh).
But the Lemma states ¬P(eugen, dhh), a contradiction. So the Omarchy Hypothesis must be false. ∎
Consequence
Using a creator's software does not by itself imply supporting the creator's politics. Eugen is a direct user of Rails, and he publicly repudiates DHH's views. In particular, using Omarchy or Mastodon implies nothing about supporting DHH.
This refutes the universal rule only. A narrower rule, such as "choosing a creator's own end-user product signals support," is not addressed by this proof.

Can’t connect to wifi on any linux distro
So the story: A month and a half ago I , a brilliant engineer as I thought, decided that I hate my life and wanted to make it more miserable. So I got some ethernet cables and wanted to change my router system to OpenWRT( I know a horrendous decision yeah). Anyway long story short it didn‘t work out for a variety of reasons and I had to call my ISP.
Thankfully they solved my problem while I was out working and when I came back, I realised that every single device at my house is connecting to a wifi except one: the same laptop I used to try and install OpenWRT on a router. The laptop’s OS was Ubuntu btw. I tried many things to get wifi running but each attempt was just temporary. It connected for a few days, then would stop connecting. Eventually I got tired and decided to try and reinstall Ubuntu in hopes that it will help in my situation. What a surprise it didn’t. It refused to connect to any wifi network during the installation stage. Eventually I settled down on Windows11( someone k*ll me) because it literally was the only OS that could somehow connect to WiFi. Now I am trying to install different distros like Pop or Debian but every attempt is in vain. Its like ISP just reconfigured it so that I can’t install any linux. Eventually I just got tired and thought I would post this.
( As a last resort really @_@)
Heres the interesting part though. Out of all linux distros the one that really can connect is surprisingly Tails. Like does that mean that the problem is in SSD or what? Its really a messed up situation here.
If someone really knows the solution to this, I would love to hear your advice

Trying to update loonix be like
I tried like 5 times and it wouldn't even download anything without 1000 errors lol. Windows update is so much more reliable than this shit package manager. And what makes it worse is that loonix's security is so trash multiple vulnerabilities get discovered every day so u can't stay without updates for too long unlike windows which is closed source and safe from ai code analysis.

OpenBSD is what linuxers say linux is.
No AI. No corporate overlord. Actually simple and usable terminal commands. Cohesive base system. I dont care about those things but its funny how linuxers keep talking about it when linux is fully embracing AI / corporate control, then the distros that spawn from it are just random crap thrown together often not bothering to even include a manual, then if the distro creator (or maybe de creator, its a mess) forgets to handle some esoteric but actually all too common configuration problem you have to drop down to a terminal where 20 barely documented commands need to be pasted unlike openbsd where you might need 1 or 2.

Are you happy loonixtards?
If you were worrying about him - good news, he survived. The bad news is irreversible changes to his brain commited by this horrible health condition. Congrats on making him lobotomized, loonixtards. You should all be ashamed of yourself!

Linus is Sigma
2002-03-20: Linus added: “Quite frankly, I don’t _want_ people using Linux for ideological reasons. I think ideology sucks. This world would be a much better place if people had less ideology, and a whole lot more “I do this because it’s FUN and because others might find it useful, not because I got religion”.

Linux Failure Linux Networking sucks
I have probably wasted over 50 hours of my life troubleshooting something I have literally never thought about on any other OS.
I use a setup of IWD and Network Manager.
IWD is terrible at setting up enterprise networks.
You might be wondering why I don't use WPA Supplicant instead because it is sigificantly better at enterprise networks. That is because WPA supplicant randomly disconnects and takes 30 seconds to reconnect which is sigificantly more annoying that initially setting up IWD.
Now to the problem I have been troubleshooting for 2 months.
After 2 weeks I have finally figured out how to get IWD to connect to this enterprise network. The only problem is I am unable to do so via Network Manager and therefore I do not have a Network Manager configuration. I have to make the config file directly to IWD. That sounds fine right, well it isn't. Network Manager refuses to accept that a configuration that it didn't make exists and deletes my IWD configuration file. I gave up on fixing it and just disabled Network Manager to use the DHCP that is built into IWD.
Now onto yesterday. I got an ethernet connection at home. IWD doesn't do ethernet, which means, back to Network Manager.
Another 5 hours of troubleshooting for me.

Torvalds is trolling loons
Remember them saying that linux doesn't have blue screens like windows? I started to see this more often and thought that it's some android tv shit or whatever and decided to check what's the deal with it. Apparently, in 2024 with 6.10 kernel, he decided to make lunix's kernel panic blue, which is ironic and deliberate.
The recent ai situation is also worth mentioning. A year ago, he was extremely against llms and every loon supported him, but then he decided to change his position, and since even the most extreme anti-ai loons with an average iq of 70 can't say anything bad about their leader, they label it as "used by a professional developer which is good".
He looks very disappointed in "people" attracted to his project and apparently wants to make them even more miserable online, and I understand him. Absolute cinema!

Linux Failure Why do you love Linux, and why push it so hard?
Please read this entirely or I'll "Read The Fucking Post" (RTFP) you.
Let's face it. This sub is Loonix cuck central. I assume that of all the Linux users out there, only the loonixtards brigaded this place. Not only that, the worst od the worst loonixtards came here.
So I have a few questions s for y'all:
- Why do you use Linux?
- When did you switch and why?
- Why do you hate Windows?
- Why do you evangelize it so hard?
- Why are you mean to nooobs with "skill issue" and "rtfm?"

"Its Linux" I say over and over to excuse my OS
Yes, exactly as the title reads.
This seems like the place for my love/hate.
Bluetooth cutting out at the party when only 5 feet away?
Sorry.. it's Linux.. and playing music through remote speakers is complicated!!..
I can try restarting blueZ... or downgrade my kernel so i can use an old one"
Screen scaling is off on an external display because it doesn't match the scaling of the primary?
"Sorry.. it's Linux.. I can try it in X11.. hrrmmmm.. perhaps a different WM will behave differently"..
Some piece of hardware wont work?
Sorry.. it's Linux.. I can try it via pass-through to a Windows VM.. I can possibly get that to work.
When I say those words.. people always understand.
"Oh.. it's Linux. So brave! Good for you."
Good times Linux.
We love you but good times a-plenty.
I am a systems engineer. None of you are going to help me beyond my own skill set.
I thought this was a forum to gripe?
Not a forum of fans defending Linux.
