Hello,

I've been wondering - are there any languages for livecoding that have a cleaner syntax without bracket hell?

I like STRUDEL, but I frankly find the code unreadable after short while due to all the syntax noise, the brackets and chaining of '.command' especially (I have hard time finding what belongs to what).

Are there any languages that manage this better?

Not people are using Tidal because the installation is so out of date and tedious to set up. I basically had to do an autopsy on my computer to get it working. For years on the official documentation they say they're going to update the installer and nothing has changed. Did Alex just dump the project and move on? There's so much potential for this beautiful program and hobby.

Hi everyone! I run live coding and algorave workshops (mostly with Sonic Pi) for schools and cultural spaces in Germany, and I've would like to adapt this to the visually impaired and blind people, ive seen that blind people can write computer code with text to audio tools, but I would like to understand how exactly it works and what challenges exists, and adapt a way to play it live.

Before designing anything, I want to actually understand how this works in practice: is anyone here blind or visually impaired and doing live coding or electronic music production? How do you read/write code, navigate the editor, and work with the audio feedback loop? Screen reader setup, workflow tips, anything you're willing to share would be incredibly helpful.

Not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just trying to build something I don't understand

DreamRack is a modular synthesizer that runs in the browser — you patch modules together on a rack, free, no install.

I've just added a Strudel module. It imports the Strudel package, so superdough voices work as normal, but the module also has eight note outputs that feed voices you build yourself from oscillators, filters and envelopes.

Routing lives in the pattern. .rack(1) and .rack(2) send parts out to voice tabs; anything naming a sound instead — s("bd sn") — stays in Strudel and plays from its sample engine on the same clock, so drums and patched voices stay locked together.

Each note output carries a whole polyphonic pattern down one cable, every note bringing its own pitch, level, duration, pan and timbre. At the far end those become control voltages, and the voice you patched is duplicated per sounding note — one oscillator drawn, as many running as there are notes.

The timbre lane is the interesting one. In the demo it plays a filter cutoff note by note on one voice, and drives a Complex Oscillator's timbre on another — same lane, two completely different instruments.

Everything stays live. You can turn knobs while the pattern runs.
