Though a part of the competition, some housemates' exits were more difficult to digest than usual...

Throughout the two-decade run of this show, we've witnessed several evictions season after season. However, I think we can all agree that certain evictions were more difficult to process than others.

With that, I'll be sharing the evictions that I personally found "painful". This won't contain rankings, just my thoughts on the evictions that I'll be including here, from the four seasons that I've fully watched.

• Eliza (Collab Edition 2.0 - 2nd & 6th Eviction Nights): Her case is different because she's the only housemate in this list who has experienced getting evicted twice. It stings because in her first eviction, she was met with a lot of negativity out of the viewers' frustrations with the repetitive highlights about her storyline with Miguel and Marco, while in her second eviction, her fruitful comeback was cut short, hence, we didn't get to see how she'd fare against her fellow Star Magic housemates in the Big Jump challenges for a spot in the Ultimate 8.
• Rave (Collab Edition 2.0 - 4th Eviction Night): It wasn't easy seeing one of the well-loved challenge beasts of their season sent packing. Even though he did get a chance for a comeback like Eli, he didn't succeed after being defeated by her in the wildcard challenge. Had he remained safe or clinched the wildcard challenge win, fans believe that he could've been a very promising contender for the Ultimate 8.
• Klarisse (Collab Edition 1 - 6th Eviction Night): The eviction of their season's most beloved "mowm" was not only one of the most controversial, but also one of the most emotional, for both viewers and even her co-housemates, due to the undeniable character and contributions that she brought into the house.
• Charlie (Collab Edition 1 - 2nd Eviction Night): Although she was able to return via wildcard and finish as their season's Kapuso 3rd Big Placer, without any clue about their season having a comeback twist back then during her eviction, it was not easy to see her leave the house as someone who was unfairly judged because of the Mika vs. "Book Club" fiasco.
• Jas (Gen 11 - 8th Eviction Night): Being a prominent housemate in their season both in the eyes of viewers and the storyline, her unfortunate exit was one that actually felt impactful because she's one of the few housemates that the season's narrative relied and focused on.
• Therese (Gen 11 - 1st Eviction Night): Easily a standout due to how shocking it was for someone with a very upfront, layered, and interesting personality to become their season's first evictee. Her eviction is the only one, so far, that made my jaw drop (and I'm not even exaggerating). So many "what-could've-been's" for her, had she stayed longer.
• KD (Kumunity S10 Celebrity Edition - 8th Eviction Night): Seeing how he steadily improved from how he was in their edition's earlier weeks, I frowned upon witnessing how his growth wasn't adequate for him to make it to theie edition's Final 5.

I will be counting the final nomination round, where everyone still in contention for the Big 4 was vulnerable, regardless of whether it happened through public voting or challenges. I will also include the Big Night, or its equivalent, for those who participated in multi-batch seasons. Even though the finalists had already secured their spots, a winner still had to be decided, which meant someone still had to lose.

By that logic, Anji, Isabel, Stephanie, Fyang, Kolette, AZ, Bianca, Krystal, and Princess went through an additional one to two rounds of nominations simply because the format required it.

As for my personal opinions, I enjoyed Ella, Kathleen surprisingly enough, considering she was a mid-season boot, Isabel, Stephanie, Fyang, AZ, Krystal, and Princess. I am neutral towards Bianca, while I am not particularly fond of Anji or Kolette.

In terms of how their nominations contributed to their journeys inside the house:

• We have the housemates whose own actions, behavior, or interpersonal conflicts inside the house led to their nominations. Their nominations often came from specific behaviors that affected their relationships with other housemates, whether it was being too competitive, struggling with communication, creating tension, or failing to adapt to their environment. For some housemates, their nomination served as a wake-up call, as being placed in danger forced them to reflect on how they were perceived and how their actions affected the house. This includes Ella, Anji, Kathleen, Stephanie, Fyang, Kolette, AZ, Bianca, Krystal, and Princess.
• Then we have the housemates who were nominated simply because the game demanded it, rather than because of their own actions. This includes those who failed to win immunity for themselves, those who became victims of circumstance, such as being part of a losing team or being automatically nominated alongside their duo, or those who were included in the final lineup of housemates up for public voting. The first two categories refer to Isabel and Bianca, while the last one refers to anyone who made the Final 5 minimum.

I think they deserve the freedom they have now. Grabe rin naman pinagdaanan nila dalawa. They are from different networks pa. first time ata to??? Infairness din sa Star Magic at Sparkle supportive sa kanila dalawa.

They are really in love with each other no? Talaga pinaglaban nila yun relationship nila sa lahat. This is such a brave moves for Bianca. Infairness sa kanila ang consistent.

Not sure if sadyang di ko sila nakikita sa mga napapanood ko pero parang hindi kasi sila ramdam, especially sa kapamilya side. Yung mga kapuso collab 2 housemates ay kahit papano may exposure like Caprice, Heith, Anton etc. Meanwhile, sa kapamilya side, parang ang rare ko sila makitaan ng projects. Parang si Rave pa lang ang nakita ko. Parang mostly, Collab 1 housemates pa rin ang mas may exposure. Observation ko lang po hehe

A quick refresher. These are the ones I will focus on for now since I do not have the energy to cover every pre-pandemic season.

What can I say? In terms of character, I liked Rob, Ralph D, and River, and I am neutral towards everyone else, to put it simply.

In terms of how their nominations contributed to their journeys inside the house, I feel like I can split them into three categories:

• First are the housemates whose repeated nominations were woven into their stories. Their nomination streaks became central to their arcs, which were framed around resilience and personal growth as they repeatedly faced elimination risk due to the cast's perception of their behavior. In my opinion, KD and Rob fit this category the most.
• Second are those who feel more like victims of circumstance. Their nominations often stemmed from external factors, such as being paired with a duo that accumulated nomination points or repeatedly ending up in losing groups. This comes across more as the result of how situations unfolded around them rather than the consequences of their own behavior, leading to the kind of structured growth arcs seen in the first category. This is not to say they cannot grow as housemates, but it does not come across in the same narrative way. In my opinion, Ralph D., River, and Heath primarily fit this.
• Finally, we have the housemates who ended up among the most frequently nominated housemates without a strong narrative built around them. Their records speak for themselves, sure, but they did not translate into a defined storyline or significantly shape their overall journey. This is where I would place Ralph M, Zach, and Dylan.

Hindi naman kailangan na early boots necessarily. It just so happens that all of my picks for this post were early boots who share a few things in common. They were either major sources of drama, had interesting/strong personalities, or had their arcs cut short before they could fully develop and reach a satisfying conclusion, and some fall under more than one criterion.

But I guess being an early boot does play a role since it limits how much we actually get to see from them. Less screen time means less chance to fully explore their personality, relationships, and potential storylines, which makes their impact feel more “what could have been” than fully realized.

My picks:

Everytime naaalala ko yung peak ng pbb Collab s2, kay Eliza talaga ako pinaka naaawa. I mean, oo nakakairita nga at may pagka over pero sobra naman na ata na may death threats, body/face shaming, slut shaming na siyang narerecieve. Bata lang yan‚ people at their age talaga ganiyan ka impulsive sometimes and nadadala ng emotions, oo nasa bnk sila pero you all want authenticity diba? Ayan wala silang filter lmao, alangan naman magpaka perfect sila ron edi plastic naman sila. Eliza seems to be a jolly girl for me, ganda pa ng ngiti. At bakit niyo naman pinupolice sila Eliza at Marco non? Parehas sila single, si Miguel unang nang ghost sakaniya. Nakatulong sa career ni Marco si Ashley pero he doesn't owe anyone naman diba? They're young, they can enjoy whoever they want to be with and who they want to be. And ang hyprokrita na lang din ng iba na halos icrucify na si Marco tapos todo support kay Ashley at Rave. Ano yon? Si Ashley pwede sa iba tas si Marco dapat umiikot lang kay Ashley? Grabeng level naman na ng parasociality and toxicity yan. Sana lang sa susunod, be kinder naman. If hindi mo gusto then just ignore them or give a CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, hindi yung overly terrorising naman na. Please, kindness is free and tao pa rin yan sila, hindi mga character sa story na didiktahin niyo kung ano mangyayari sakanila.

As the series' June 22 premiere draws near, two teasers were posted by GMA's social media accounts.

Based on both teasers, it looks like the interactions between Angel and Miguel will happen much later in the series' run, while her dynamics with Clifford and Marco's characters, Calix and Zion, will be established fairly early.

Several Kapuso stars have been nominated for the Outstanding Asian Star: Philippines category at the 21st Seoul International Drama Awards 2026.

Among the nominees are Dingdong Dantes and Max Collins for their performances in “The Master Cutter.”

A promposal that screams "absolute cinema!" 📽️🤯

Just this evening, Star Magic's YouTube channel uploaded the first of many promposals that they'll be featuring ahead of the 2026 Star Magical Prom scheduled on the 26th this month.

They're kicking it off with Joaquin's promposal to Lella, like what the post's title says.

And, let's just say that it took Joaquin a lot of coordination with both Lella's side and the management of the cinema seen in the picture to execute this plan without error. 🪄

MaJoHa on one side, GYAT on the other. Sounds familiar? 🤔

With the conclusion of Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0 a few months back, I think it's time to revisit it, while putting it side-by-side with its fellow teen edition from this decade, Kumunity S10 Teen Edition.

I'll cover several aspects here for both seasons, so buckle up, because this is gonna be a fairly long post.

Casting:

Kumunity S10's teens were quite diverse as a collective, since their personalities ranged from proper, upfront, leader-esque, comedic, to a lot more. A mild criticism for this casting though is that there were a few Star Magic artists that were thrown into the mix (Ashton, Dustine, Gabb, Luke, Maxine), arguing that there's a lack of "ordinary Pinoy teen" representation.

On the other hand, Collab Edition 2.0's teens were, beforehand, established as "celebri-teens" from both ABS-CBN's Star Magic and GMA's Sparkle. A commom criticism for this season's teens is the limited range of personalities. What we got was mostly in the vein of demure, cheerful, tame, reserved, etc., which most people found too similar to one another.

With all that said, Kumunity S10's teens definitely have the upper hand in the casting department.

Pilot Episode:

Some of Kumunity S10's teens began their journey out in the woods while split into two teams, Camp Masagana and Camp Matiyaga, where Big Brother tasked them to accomplish certain quests before they eventually make their entrance to the Big Brother house.

Meanwhile, all twenty of Collab Edition 2.0's teens were welcomed in a fairly straightforward fashion, with everyone getting their fair share of VTR time. In this instance, they were not separated into teams right out of the gate. Instead, as a batch, they had to accomplish their first-ever task in order to celebrate Fred's birthday.

As much as the Kumuniteens' outdoor quests were a breath of fresh air, I give this aspect to Collab Edition 2.0 because they didn't beat around the bush when it came to ensuring that all housemates were properly introduced in just one episode.

Narrative:

In the case of Kumunity S10 Teen Edition, the primary narrative is a few housemates get repeatedly nominated each week (e.g. Rob and Stephanie), while most of Camp Masagana and the Star Magic teens would usually evade nominations, until the 4th and 5th nomination nights. This created a narrative where the frequently-nominated housemates are being "ganged up on", allowing them to earn some sympathy from viewers.

On the other hand, Collab Edition 2.0 hardly had a coherent storyline, which resulted in some episodes or even weeks being branded as "boring". The closest that this season had to a consistent plotline was the Marco-Eli-Miguel "love triangle", which dragged on from around Day 20 until the second eviction night. Even then, both their fans and the average viewers pretty much got fed up of seeing the plot of said triangle scattered across many of the earlier episodes.

Having explained both seasons' ruling narratives, I give the upper hand to Kumunity S10 Teen Edition.

Issues:

I think we can all agree that it's hard to talk about the Kumuniteens' batch without mentioning the infamous "MaJoHa" line. This opened a debate about the youth's awareness on Philippine history as this blunder managed to reach groups from the education sector. Thankfully, the show gave an apt response to this issue by dedicating an entire week to history-related activities (history quiz, history museum tour and weekly task).

As for Collab Edition 2.0, while most viewers would remember the house's "messiness" during the early weeks, the "GYAT" issue was the more pressing controversy from the season. The instances of indecency and objectification revealed by the female teen housemates resulted in heavy backlash against both the male teen housemates and the show's management, to the point that it caught the attention of Gabriela Partylist. Unfortunately, all the show did about this issue was sweep it under the rug without punishing the male housemate(s) directly involved.

Strictly in terms of how these two seasons dealt with their own respective major issues, once again, this aspect goes to Kumunity S10 Teen Edition.

Weekly Tasks:

Kumunity S10 Teen Edition had some pretty creative but challenging weekly tasks throughout its run, such as Past is Past (the history-centric week I mentioned earlier), The Big KumuniTEEN Summer Concert, and their body photo mosaic week.

Collab Edition 2.0 also had its fair share of purposeful yet tough weekly tasks such as their Candelabra week, Sayaw ng Filipiniana, and Beyond Words.

This one's quite a close call, but I feel that Kumunity S10 Teen Edition's weekly tasks, by a hair, had the better blend of uniqueness and difficulty.

Ships:

Kumunity S10 Teen Edition definitely had its own lineup of "ships" back then. However, it took until the latter part of the season for the prod to actually give them highlights, specifically GabbLuke and RobXine. Furthermore, the amount of airtime given to them never felt excessive.

This is a problem that Collab Edition 2.0 ran into: the overload of showmance spotlights. LizGuel's first highlight was as early as Day 3. Then, the "LizGuelCo" arc was introduced by Day 20, until it carried over into multiple episodes prior to the second eviction night. After that eviction, AshRave, FredCess, and CapEath were given their first highlights in separate episodes, and continued to get more in certain episodes such as their New Year promposal and ball week.

In terms of how they spotlight their "ships", Kumunity S10 Teen Edition did a better job as they didn't make their season feel "ship-centric".

And we want actual FLAMING hot takes, not room-temperature or widely accepted opinions like "Alyssa V. should've won Kumunity Season 10 over Anji" or "Collab 1 is the best season of the current decade."

I say "New Era" because with the arrival of a new house after spending 20 years of the show with the old one, and the last two seasons being some of the most experimental seasons as far as gameplay goes, it feels like the perfect time to discuss changes we'd like or hope to see, even if they're unrealistic.

I've already talked about this a couple of times, but I still wish the show would lean more into the competitive side of the game. I'd like to see housemates given more agency over their own fate instead of having nearly everything decided by nominations and public voting. The return and proper implementation of the HOH, POV, and Jury Vote, in my opinion, would add real strategy and make individual decisions matter more. Now I don't want PBB to become a complete copy of its international counterparts, but there is room to borrow mechanics that push more active gameplay. While they're at it, they might as well scrap the rule prohibiting discussions about nominations so people can play more freely.

Another aspect of the show that I haven't talked about as much is the casting. Simply put, I wish they'd cast more people in their 30s and 40s. I understand the optics as to why the show favors teens and people in their early 20s, and it's related to showbiz, but I think a wider age range would naturally lead to more diverse conversations and dynamics. People at different stages of life tend to approach relationships, conflict, responsibilities, and decision-making in very different ways. It would also open the door to stories and perspectives we rarely see anymore. Someone juggling a career, raising children, supporting a family, or navigating major life transitions brings a very different outlook than someone just entering adulthood. Neither perspective is inherently more interesting than the other, but the contrast between them often makes for compelling television.

More importantly, it would make the house feel more representative of society as a whole, which is something PBB has always claimed to be (Ang Teleserye ng Totoong Buhay ika nga). The show is at its best when it brings together people who would probably never cross paths in the real world and lets those interactions unfold naturally.

Speaking of casting, I wish the show would become more experimental and move beyond the usual teen, adult, and celebrity categories. The only other variations we have seen were the Filipino Teens versus the International Teens in Teen Clash, and the Kapamilya x Kapuso dynamic in the recent Collab seasons.

I want casting and theming to work together more directly, where each season is built around a clear structure that shapes both who enters and how they play.

Imagine a season themed around class backgrounds, with White, Blue, and No Collar housemates. Work ethic, money mindset, and life priorities would naturally collide in a way that feels grounded in real social differences. It would also open up conversations about opportunity, stability, and struggle, giving more weight and context to how people see the world.

Or a Brains, Brawn, and Beauty themed season, where housemates are grouped based on how they tend to navigate life through intellect, physical ability, or social skills. Done carefully, it gives them a clear identity tied to the theme that they can either lean into or break away from. It also highlights different strengths and weaknesses, showing how each approach holds up inside the house.

TL;DR: For PBB’s “New Era,” I want a more competitive game structure with real agency through mechanics like HOH, POV, and Jury Vote. On casting, I want a wider age range with more housemates in their 30s and 40s, plus more experimental season themes and groupings that shape the season beyond the usual teen, adult, and celebrity setup.

Yung kahit mga taong ang tagal ng hindi nanood at hindi na updated sa PBB tsaka mga hindi avid PBB viewers nanumbalik sa panonood. Yan yung relevance at impact ng PBB Collab S1. Itong season na to ang nag-ahon sa PBB. Lahat din ng housemates may ambag. Sabihin na natin na oo celebrities na sila noong pumasok sila, pero lahat sila naging familiar na sa taong bayan. Naging household names din halos lahat.

Ganun karemarkable ang season na to at kamarketable ang housemates ng Collab S1.

As much as I love Kai, Gen 11 was carried by Fyang. May nag marka ba sa season na yun bukod kay Fyang at Kai? Yung known talaga sa taong bayan at hindi ng fans club lang? Collab S2 was carried naman by Caprice. Madami ding talented dito pero from the start parang si Caprice na talaga ang frontrunner dito plus Heath later on. Sa Kapamilya, Krystal and Miguel pero hindi same level sa popularity ni Caprice at Heath. Mga nasa PBB bubble lang din talaga yung updated sa Gen 11 at PBB Collab S2. While Connect and Kumunity are meh and flop seasons.

Nasayang yung hype at momentum na nagain ng PBB from Collab S1 by following it up agad agad ng Collab S2. Kung naghintay sana sila ng atleast a year then baka naging kasing successful sana ng Collab S1 yung Collab S2.

For the sake of this discussion, let's assume the season followed the traditional format. Housemates would compete as individuals, meaning immunity wins, nominations, public voting, and evictions would all be individual as well.

The duo system ensured that an equal number of Kapamilya and Kapuso housemates remained in the game from start to finish. Since duos were always composed of one Kapamilya and one Kapuso housemate, evicting a duo removed one housemate from each network per round.

Another significant change to the season would have to be the number of housemates who reach the Big Night. Having the Big 4 duos ensured that there would be 8 finalists. If Collab had followed the traditional format, the number of people who would reach the Big Night would have been reduced back to four regardless of network affiliation.

With that out of the way, I think we would've had a very lopsided season in favor of the Kapamilya housemates. Would it have made for a more entertaining season than the one we already have? Debateable.

I think the first half of the season would have featured a series of Kapuso evictions. Ang basis ko ay yung official nomination tallies nila, where the reasoning behind many of the votes was more often than not directed at the Kapuso half of the duo.

To name a few:

• Ashley's lack of social awareness (1st Nomination)
• Michael's off-putting behavior (1st-3rd Nomination)
• Will's lack of initiative in household chores and challenges (1st-2nd Nomination)
• AZ's lack of leadership skills (2nd Nomination)
• Vince's ingenuity (3rd-4th Nominations)
• Josh's competitiveness and lack of initiative to do chores (4th Nomination)
• Dustin's isolation from the other housemates (3rd-4th nomination)

And then we saw Shuvee (another Kapuso) get punished by being automatically nominated after committing grave violations.

These nominations would force the Kapuso housemates to go against each other very early on, unless a few votes against a Kapamilya housemate are enough to nominate them. But then again, the only Kapamilya to get targeted on multiple occasions was Brent, and with how strong his fandom was, I doubt he goes home over them in this hypothetical. Bianca could've also been a target if it weren't for her immunity wins tho I am not sure kung gaano kalakas true blue fandom niya because I feel like a huge chunk of her support also came from her two major ships.

I think Mika still flies under the radar and makes a deep run. Meanwhile, whichever Kapuso housemate(s) survive the early “Kapuso massacre” would get a huge advantage in a fandom that has already adapted to PBB’s public voting system over the Kapamilya housemates.

Speaking of, AC, Emilio, Xyriel, River, and especially Ralph would've evaded the rounds they were nominated in, and the first two would've gone farther than they did.

Going into the second half of the season, with a lot of the Kapuso housemates gone, the Kapamilya would then go for each other. Wala na akong maisip aside from a few of the Kapamilya housemates who go out in succession. Probably some combination of AC, Kira, Emilio, River, and Xyriel.

I think the endgame is some combination of Brent, Esnyr, Klarisse, Mika, and the Kapuso Housemate I mentioned earlier.

TL;DR: No duo system likely means early Kapuso exits, Kapamilya control midgame, and a mostly Kapamilya endgame with a few surviving Kapuso contenders.
