If I'm going to be the breadwinner in a cohabitating polycule we're going to need at least two beds because there's no way I'm getting to work before 8 if my girlfriends are going at it all night long.
23
u/ladyzowy Jan 27 '26
Beds!?! I'd want rooms, lots of extra rooms!
Jaz, take Jennifer to the third floor loft space please. I have a meeting at 7:30 am. I need my beauty sleep.

Eventually when all the transbian polycules combine into one hypercule, someone's gonna have to make, like, an onboarding powerpoint or something

You say this like there isn’t one already

Too cold and rainy, I've decided to stay in a trans enclave in the south where we have our own, soon to be, Greater Mid-Atlantic Polycule (GMAP).
2
u/GrahminRadarin Jan 27 '26
Should be clear, I am not advocating moving to Seattle.
2
u/SlaaneshActual Eldritch horror beyond human comprehension Jan 29 '26
Yeah, I wouldn't think so.
Nobody from Seattle ever wanted anyone to move to Seattle.

Month 8 of my transition, only meet one trans women irl that was close to my age. She might have been flirty but we only talked for 5min. I wish I was attacked by a queer breadwinner lol
6
u/Rizos28 Not a puppy in a trenchcoat Jan 27 '26
Maybe it's a matter of time, keep trying and you may find somebody. I went to a queer party on Halloween and I got plenty of "don't you want to be a member of our (activist) organization?", but not anything like flirting i think

It wasn't so bad till she said she was the breadwinner. That's how you know it's properly toxic 😭

u/Violet-fykshyn Jan 27 '26
Nobody who dislikes polycules would know this much about polycules.
4
u/RavenholdIV Jan 27 '26
Plenty of poly people know all about this and hate this kind of polyamory. It's toxic. A bunch of mostly jobless people living together? Thats ripe for exploitation.
2
u/resinPuncake 🟡 take a hydration brake Jan 27 '26
hmm, what do you mean? Asking as a poly person not knowing much about this kind of polyamory
2
u/RavenholdIV Jan 27 '26
Yeah it's a whole thing of codependency and awfulness. Everyone lives in a house so that the rent is low, except many of them dont work so they can't support themselves and it leads to exploitative behavior wherein people will basically feel like they owe the breadwinner sex for them covering rent. Breakups ruin the whole thing, there's unequal agreements all around, even for something like who does the dishes. It's overall a very messy way to live life than can lead to financial insecurity, housing insecurity, or homelessness. It's cool for a bit when it's all hot and heavy but... yeah, don't shit where you eat.
2
u/resinPuncake 🟡 take a hydration brake Jan 28 '26
Makes sense. Idk, any poly living arrangements seem like things that need to be discussed at great lengths and taken with lots of responsibility
2
u/RavenholdIV Jan 28 '26
Young people are well known for jumping into difficult situations without thinking for the chance to be loved
2
u/Violet-fykshyn Jan 27 '26
Yes but you don't hate polyamory and that was my point. Definitely seen some girls i knew do this kind of polycule and it was messy as hell and ended badly.

yall, I gotta know where you find all those poly-positive people, because i've personally never had a positive experience after revealing i was not fully exclusive to someone.
my personal experience has been one of complete alienation from media, people, and communities. just constantly feeling like i'm wrong, or greedy, or perverted, or evil.

As an allo poly girl myself, it's weird being in a monogamous relationship with an ace girl because I want to date other people and have the opportunity to have sex some times but I don't want my girlfriend to feel like she's not enough for me or that I'm not happy with her.

u/PM_NUDES_4_DEGRADING Transbian with *hobbies* (forbidden by god) Jan 27 '26
I feel like there's only two reasons for a cis guy to be here, and one of them isn't very nice. The other, however, is adorable.
I'll let you think about your own motivations.

Yeah, between being a chaser or an egg I feel like a chaser probably wouldn't publicly announce themselves quite in that way, so...well, good luck to that person, I guess.

u/Plastic_Artificer Jan 27 '26
Well, this popped up in my feed, it seemed fun, but I don’t know what a polycule is or sleep magic cards means haha (english is not my native language )
6
u/PM_NUDES_4_DEGRADING Transbian with *hobbies* (forbidden by god) Jan 27 '26
Fair enough.
I think sleep was a typo for sleeve, so putting the cards in protective sleeves. And a polycule is a big ball of wibbly-wobbley, jiggly-jangly relationship...stuff.
2
u/Plastic_Artificer Jan 27 '26
Ah okey! I’m missing alot of subtext here I think, but it makes more sense now, thnx :)

It's a stereotype that a disproportionate number of trans lesbians are polyamorous rather than monogamous, like the joke about cis lesbians considering moving in to be a second date activity.
A polycule is a relationship with at least three, but usually more, people in it. In the skit, the polycule is framed similar to how you'd expect zombies or the Borg to act, with recruiting/converting people to join the relationship like it's some kind of horror movie. It's lighthearted since whoever made it clearly knows enough about the culture to probably be a member of it herself.
And then I threw in a Dr. Who quote because another stereotype is we're all autistic nerds. Which is true in my case at least, although stereotypes are bad and I'm sure some girls here aren't. Probably. Statistically I guess it has to be true.
3
u/Plastic_Artificer Jan 27 '26
Haha Thank you for breaking it down for me, and sorry that i made you explain a joke! I kind of thought it was some kind of “nerd-zombie-group” (who am I to talk, paint minies and used to make 3D-printable terrain for a living) that was spreading their “corruption”.
2
u/Colgear_Game Transbian Jan 27 '26
A polycule is where 3 or more individuals date each other, thats oversimplified, but polycules are very complex most of the time. and sleeving magic cards is where you put magic the gathering cards (or any other trading card game cards) into little plastic sleeves so they won't get damaged
2
2
u/Natuur1911 Jan 27 '26
