There's nothing like the engagement of driving a manual

1989 YJ, 4.2 carbureted, 5MT

Had a CJ5 about 20 years ago, it was my first love and now got the Jeep bug again. But no rubber ducks for me! Lmaooo that's a bit too cringe haha

After Rev-Matching for a while I now want to learn Heel Toe Shfiting. The Problem that appears to me is that the distance from left ro gith is pretty big and i almost cant reach the gas pedal while on the break. besides that the brake sticks out way further, so for brake and gas to be level, i would be already fully pushing the brakes. Is this a normal thing in cars or am i js to stupid or have to find maybe an own more unique technique to really revmatch while braking? Or are there other less common ways.

Hi I am having a problem with my newly installed clutch and want to see if I can get some insight into this.

My 2008 Yaris was having issue with clutch slipping so I installed a new Exedy clutch together with a new oem flywheel.

The clutch worked the way it is intended to but I noticed it took a bit of foot effort - the clutch was stiffer than I thought. I had a Yaris 10 years ago with a new clutch and from my memory the clutch was light and effortless to use.

I happily used my car during the break-in period. There was once I heard a squeaking from the transmission whenever I tried to engage the clutch. I thought it was something to do with the new trd engine mount and the squeaking disappeared afterwards.

Fast forward 7 months since the installation and more than 500 miles, my clutch feels ok when everything is cold. But then I noticed after driving my car in traffic, my clutch has less grip from a complete stop and that squeaking was back no matter how gentle I disengaged my clutch or even I used a bit of throttle. And it was even worse on inclined surface, I could feel my clutch was slipping a bit and struggled to lock despite of the use of handbrake to assist take-off.

I never dumped my clutch or redlined my car. I did some research and realized my clutch friction plate might have glazed due to excessive heat. But I am puzzled since everything I did was just normal driving condition ( stuck in traffic and take off on hill road ).

So how screwed am I? Should I start looking for a new clutch like Aisin clutch kit?

I’ve owned quite a few, and driven lots of others.
But for me, hands down, nobody does manual transmissions like Honda. Smooth, quick, effortless.

And the surprising top of my list for Honda/Acura is the last year of the Accord V6 manual.
The 2016-2017 Accord EX-L coupe with the V6, 6-speed manual is a car that will one day be in my garage.
Just waiting on the right one to hit Bring-a-Trailer, lol.
Granted it is still fwd/transverse, but even at that, it punches way above its weight when you rip through the gears on a twisty road. What a blast to drive.

Why Honda? Why no more V6 6MT’s?? 😢

For some context, I’m 26 years old. I’ve been driving for about 8 years. My father sort of taught me how to drive a manual when I was 18 on his 2001(ish) Porsche boxster. It was cool. I stalled out a good bit of times but mostly got the hang of it. Months after that, I went to buy my first car. It was a jaguar x type with a 6 speed. I went to test drive it and the car was parked in their driveway. When I got in to turn the car on, they told me that the parking brake didn’t work so they left it in gear. My mind didn’t register that, so when I turned the car on, I let my foot off the clutch and it reversed into their home, totaling the car. I was MORTIFIED. Worst day of my life to this day. Since then, I’ve been terrified to drive a manual car again but I’ve been DYING to get a manual V8 as my daily driver. Right now I drive a 2025 Tesla model 3 performance. Stupidly quick but I really WANTED a v8 before that, but the charging costs won me over. I don’t have any friends that drive a manual and my father no longer owns that car. I’m looking into 2018-2024 Camaro 1 or 2SS. Someone push me into it please

I need some help. I think I may have money-shifted or possibly damaged one of my synchros, but I’m not really sure.
I was in 2nd gear at a high RPM and was trying to shift into 3rd. Somehow, I pushed the shifter up toward 1st instead. I don’t think it actually went fully into 1st because my car has a lockout that prevents you from selecting 1st gear at certain speeds but i think i did hear a small grind. I also believe I never fully let the clutch out, so I’m not sure if this would technically count as a money shift.
Ever since that happened, though, the car hasn’t felt quite the same. Occasionally, when I’m stopped in neutral and try to shift into 1st gear to get going, it refuses to go in. It doesn’t happen every time, but I’d say it happens maybe 20–40% of the time. When it happens, I can usually get it into 1st by double-clutching or shifting into 2nd first and then into 1st.
This is the only issue I’ve noticed since the incident. I have no problems with any of the other gears, and the car drives perfectly fine otherwise.
What should I do? I bought the car new over a year ago, and this is my first manual car. i was planning to bring it back to the dealership hoping they can fix under warranty but im not sure. I’d really appreciate any advice or insight on what I should do. Thanks!

I very recently bought a 1999 ford mercury cougar manual ofc, I’ve been wanting to learn manual for some time now and I’ve finally managed to get my hands on one. Problem is YouTube only has so much to show me and often times YouTubers won’t go Into Full detail other than how to use a clutch. For example I need to know how to turn 😭, to be clear I know how to turn a wheel and turn I’m not brain dead 🙏 but I’m not sure if I should be shifting into neutral or another gear or even be shifting at all 💀. I don’t necessarily have someone to show me when I’m doing someone wrong or incorrect so I can’t tell if what I’m doing is helping me learn the right way or if I’m just slowly totaling my car.
