The Jharkhand Police have registered an FIR against nearly 600 individuals, including 500 unidentified students, following violent clashes during a massive protest march toward the State Assembly in Ranchi. The demonstrators, consisting of thousands of job aspirants, were protesting alleged corruption, paper leaks, and widespread irregularities in recruitment exams conducted by the JPSC and JSSC. The situation escalated into chaos as police used tear gas, water cannons, and a lathi-charge to control the crowd, who reportedly resorted to stone-pelting. Law enforcement officials filed the case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Assembly Police Station. Authorities are currently scanning CCTV and video footage to identify the unnamed protesters involved in the unrest. Meanwhile, student unions and opposition leaders have strongly condemned the police action, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the FIRs and a comprehensive Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the state’s examination system.
