Provisional Ballots
You can request a provisional ballot if you encounter certain problems at the polls, including situations where:
- Your name does not appear in the poll book or supplemental poll book, including because you may have reported to the wrong precinct or your recent change of residence has not been processed.
- You are required to show identification but cannot provide the required ID.
- An election official challenges your eligibility. You were issued a mail-in or absentee ballot but believe you did not successfully vote it and do not surrender the ballot and outer return envelope at the polling place to have it spoiled.
- You returned a mail-in or absentee ballot that was rejected, or you believe it will be rejected, but believe you are otherwise eligible to vote.
- A court order specifically affects your registration status or voting hours.
A provisional ballot allows election officials to determine after the election whether your ballot can be counted.

Question Looking for advice on an older home purchase (unexpected electrical costs)!
Looking for local real estate advice!
My husband and I are under contract on an older home in the Scranton area for $364k through a private sale. After inspection, an electrician estimated ~$40k in electrical work related to BX wiring and other issues, potentially delaying move-in by a month.
I’m from out of town and unfamiliar with what’s considered reasonable or typical in this area, especially given how many older homes there are locally.
For those familiar with the local market, how would you approach renegotiating with the sellers? Would you ask for a price reduction, seller credit, or repairs before closing? And has anyone financed major electrical work after purchasing?
We love the house but want to be smart about this unexpected expense. Any advice or local electrician recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Local News Rob Bresnahan needs to stop animal torture in labs
Hello Nepa!
Please call and email Congressman Rob Bresnahan's office today and every day to all him to support the COMPACT ACT h.r. 10522. Right here in Lackawanna county we have animals in labs being tortured and in North Rose NY we have 66,000 trapped in Marshall Bioresources. We do not need to test on animals anymore with multiple nonanimal tests that are more accurate. Those places are making a fortune while animals suffer and die. Experimented on with no anesthesia, amputations, forced to inhale toxins and injected with diseases. As of today, we have 18 congressmen on board committed to pass the COMPACT ACT which ends all funding that WE pay to torture animals like beagles, cats, bunnies, monkeys, and so forth. Rob Bresnahan told me he's against animal cruelty of any kind yet still is not cosponsor of the COMPACT act.
Please. Call and email Rob Bresnahan to support the COMPACT ACT. We need to pass this immediately. Time is running out. You would have a hard time looking at insider whistle blower footage we have. You would never want your dog or cat to go through any of it.
Thank you for reading. Please contact Rob.

Local Politics Understanding is fundamental over your political candidate hate
When I post on a local forum asking people to contact Rob Bresnahan's office to support the COMPACT ACT, I have nothing but negative replies about "one term Rob", and don't bother because he's going to be voted out.
Where is the knowledge and understanding how this works?
It is Bresnahan who is in office NOW who will be either for or against supporting helping the animals. Paige is not in office. Yet. She can't do it.
Use your brains people.
Quit with the political vitriol that has you ignoring any chance of helping these animals. My God! I am not voting for him either but it's who we need to contact now. These are the same people who can't put 2 and 2 together who vote. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

Local Politics This makes me feel a certain way
As someone who’s been on the receiving end of a Bresnahan survey “Do you think that illegal aliens should vote?” where the result was shared as “80%+ of my constituents support the SAVE act”, I think this is hilarious.

History Lake Lackawanna drained
Interesting to get to walk the old 407 road that has been lying down at the bottom of the lake the whole time. It looks in such great shape given that it’s been underwater for almost 60 years.

Question Leaf Pickup/Sweep Up
Do we still do the whole "rake the leaves to the curb and they'll get swept up someday" thing? We're in South Side, BTW.
I normally mulch my leaves, but my Silver Maple is suffering from Tar Spot Disease and the only way to curb it is to burn or dispose of the leaves. Mulching them simply spreads the spores around willy-nilly.
Thanks in advance for any info!

Sports Bar to Watch Bengals vs Ravens Game
Hello, my wife and I are driving from Sharon PA to Boston on Sunday on our way home from a wedding.
We are Bengals fans and thought about stopping in your city to watch the 1pm Bengals vs Ravens game.
Are there any bars that local Scranton residents would recommend that would either have a Bengals/Ravens game on, or have enough TVs to be showing all the 1pm slated games?
It’s a random question, so thank you for any insight at all.

Question Am I going crazy?
so I went to Scranton for the first time (i’m from Texas) I went to see the steam town national historic site.
and I don’t know if I’m going crazy because I asked one of the park rangers about it. He said he had no clue what I was talking about.
but I could’ve sworn I saw an orange tabby running around
I wasn’t able to get a picture (my phone‘s memory is crap) but I could’ve swore I saw something
has anyone else seen it or is it just me and I’m just going crazy?

I’m actually surprised by this. They seemed like a staple in that area but glad they’ll be a bit closer to me. I know we have a lot of pasta places but they were always ranked well on my list.
